If the Corsair is the "Batman" of the team, then the Brigand should be its "Robin" on the field. If you get my drift.

Yeah, but I personally think we should have gotten the Brigand instead of the Corsair.

I know they want a Mech that is suitable for MW:5, but still it hurts that an actual pirate Mech has been ignored - especially one that really adds something to the game. This is one of the rare Mechs which present some novelty.

But who knows, maybe the Corsair works as a trailblazer for future pirate Mechs.

Thinking about where to draw inspiration for the pilot of the Brigand hero and FLG had a good idea.

"The only confirmed Birgand-Pilot is Polemarch Lysandr Anabasis in 3076. It is however quite possible that his father (whom he probably killed), also piloted a Brigand. Polemarch Naxamander Anabasis was most likely a deserter at the end of the FCCW, as his name is an alias and he displayed considerable skill in the field, commanding the Tortugan Phalanx.
The unit is rather interesting as it heavily draws inspiration from classical antiquity and combines those inspiration with pirate imagery. The unit insignia is a Greek hoplite shield with the Jolly Roger on it, there are sub-units named after Hoplites, Peltasts, Sarissas...

The paint scheme is also quite nice, grey with blood-red dripping from the weapons' ports. I think Naxamander Anabasis would be a good hero."

It's a pirate's mech for everyone! The Brigand is a 25 tonner that was originally built by pirates and what makes it better is it offers good HPs, speed, Jump jets, ecm and solid geometry all while being just as fast as the Commando. What seperates it from the Commando are it's JJs and more energy focused loadouts but of course it has decent variant variety as well.

A big thank you to the artists that helped us visulaize the Brigand!

Thanks for getting this far in the thread and an even bigger thank you to the artists for sharing their talents.

For a hero mech I like the idea of an MG boat that maybe has MASC so it could be like a heavier Flea. What do you guys think?

Thanks go to Fupdup for this breakdown of the MWO tech variants. There's also the XPR2 with 5 MLs and Angel ECM but the Angel would need to be changed to Guardian for MWO tech.

As far as MW5 goes, it's true that the Brigand would not be in it's timeline but introducing the Brigand and others from later eras is a good way to get ready for post-clan invasion era DLC.

If you like this mech make sure you support it here on the forums, Reddit, tweeting Russ, etc. Thanks for your time.

I like the work of the last two artists here. Good grasp in mechanical design.

Haha you're spoiling us! I also actually like the sort of close up that shows some of the things not immediately apparent on the farther out view.

Also updated it into the OP.

Yeah, few people would combine classical antiquity and pirates, even though pirates were a problem back then, too.

I would just suggest to add more blood, so that the blood from the torso laser mounts also 'spills' onto the legs for example.

Ovion made this great list of all mechs by faction & weight.

As you can see, the 25 ton slot could use more love and the Brigand is an excellent candidate to fill out that weight bracket.

PGI generally seems to be reluctant when it comes to Lights because people don't want to pay as much for lighter Mechs as for heavier, although PGI's effort is basically the same. That means it is more economic to release mediums, heavies and assaults. And it seems worse for 20t and 25t Mechs.
Also, few players are actually dedicated light pilots; many rarely if ever use one. So the target customer group is smaller, too.

Yeah it seems mechs on the lighter end need something extra to get people willing to buy. Being a pirate mech that comes with plenty of pirate themed extras would be fun but I'm not sure what else would make the Brigand stand out more aside from it being a ecm & energy based 25 tonner.

Why they should roll an unlocked (S) skin into the $20 standard pack IMO.

A lot of us have been playing long enough that more cockpit items, colours and c-bills is the last thing we need more of and the only other value in the $15/$20 packs is being "in before nerf".

They could also consider unlocked skill nodes. You know, so the mech actually functions when you get it.

Well I was thinking more specifically in terms of the Brigand but I do agree that it'd be cool to get each mech's unique camo for all variants and skill nodes would be better more the packs in general.

If the Brigand were announced, where in the rankings of strong or weak would it fall?

Max engine would likely be similar to if not the same as the COM (same tonnage and same stock engine), so it's in the LCT-COM-FLE top speed range, but with better hardpoints than the COM, and jets. It would be a solid little PITA.

Yeah with good hitboxes I could see it competing with the Wolfhound for best IS light tbh.

I would love this mech. Sadly since lights are the least played class I doubt PGI would invest into this one.

Is anything even coming out after the "Dervish" ? I am unsure..I remember seeing some YouTube vid which I hope is wrong. But is PGI done with bringing out new mechs? I hope it isn't the end anyway.

They announced that mech packs are not making money and that they would no longer be releasing them with the frequency they had previously. They didn't rule out but did specify that they wouldn't bother unless they felt it offered something significant to the game or really interesting.

I am sure for a ton of us a jump capable 25 ton IS mech fits that, but as I stated earlier my fear is that light mech sales are just not high enough for PGI to risk its development.

However if this is something I am completely mistaken about I would be thrilled to this mech which appears to have a few things that would be going for it and it's variants. JJ's, six energy hard points would be at the top of my list for something I'd be certain to consider fun and if they announced this mech I'd pre-order it right away.
