great event PGI. I have a son on the spectrum, and really appreciate the attention this is getting. I already felt at home in the game, but now even more.
Next time I leg a piranha I'll have an even warmer fuzzy feeling ������

For comments about being so close to April Fool's Day: world Autism Awareness Day is April 2, which is when the event starts.

I'd also like to thank everyone for their kind words and support. This is obviously a cause close to my heart and it is wonderful to see so many people not only showing their support but also speaking about their personal experiences.

As a MechDad, I'd open up the wallet to purchase a specially designed mech (i.e. Sarah's Mech) to support the cause.

I should have known the brown sea wouldn't pick up on my hard-line balance between keeping it real, and being considerate to people. The title is ironic.

When this event popped up with the subheading I was initially offended, and lol'd a bit, but then I was touched, then I posted something, and it floated out into the brown sea.

Welp, thar she blows, and all that.

I've got friends with kids who are dealing with the subject(because this is apparently the new ADHD), and relatives, and one friend who has demonstrable cognitive issues related to Autism. As for making fun of the event, it made fun of itself, and I'm not going to be faulted for taking life in stride all the time. I'd rather do that than be a sensitive-sally, or an apathetic individual who wouldn't have took the time to post on the forum.

Where do we acquire more of the cockpit item?

Just be very very careful choosing a charity. Many of he better known barely send any of that money to actually benefit those they claim. Some, liek Autism Speaks, are actively acting against the interest of the autistic community.

Yes, I've never had a proper skill in drawing. Of course, if you want, I could draw something by myself (and probably others as well).

And about the Autism Charity 'Mech... I felt that this actual moment will come, just around half of the year ago. At that time, I was thinking to convince PGI to introduce this particular mech as a Hero one

named "Cyberpunk", with polygon "black-gold" top and middle, but with legs covered in blue (mostly)graffiti on legs, because these mechs were used practically solitary among other forces on Russia, Terra, and it's a symbol of affinity with technology (VDNI in this case, or man-machine Vehicular Direct Neural Interface), seen in some Aspies at least.


But Urbie IIC seems to be good as well, would buy it if possible, although I know that now I want to upgrade my MW5 pack to Ultimate after getting paid, but let's just say that my salary is very low.

I wouldn't consider this a joke at all. I do not see one hint of malice in this thread. Though I will admit that it would have been better to announce this event after the day of April Fools as it gives off the wrong impression.

The only thing I'm watching out for are the scumbags both in the forums and in-game who want to make fun of this event. And I've seen A-holes low enough to crack jokes at Sarah's Jenner and berate PGI for donating to charity instead of fixing the game. I remember back in 2013, when a dude literally said that he would rather put his faith in Jesus Christ rather than a cancer program (thankfully it had been removed). It's fine if you want to criticize/hate PGI for whatever reason (balance, nerfs, content, etc), but don't be a *ick while doing it. Those are the kind of people I hate in this community, the ones who want to get into a personal vendetta by insulting or turning threads like these into jokes as a way to settle their own petty agendas. So if you really want to piss me off, be that low-down person who does that crap. I will be glad to rip you a new one for being a scumbag.

I apologize for the rant, but those are the kind of people I hate and I had to get that out of my chest.

TL;DR Version - It's okay to be angry at PGI for some things, but don't take your aggression out on charities just to settle a petty grudge or agenda.

Thanks for this event. My son looked happy when he read the event page. He said "I have autism" after reading it and I told him "Yep and MWO is doing an event for autism awareness". Very cool.

I put the cockpit items in his favorite mechs, his two Atlases. I put the decals on them as well.

My eldest step son has autism. He has made me proud with all his successes. This is a worthy event for folks that suffer with what we take as ordinary. All my sons have grown up watching me play MW4 to MWO. Its a great idea to bring these two together

Has there been any in-house discussion on doing a mech sale for autism in the same way as happened with Sarah's jenner six years ago ?

Great they are doing charity again!

I remember Sarah's story... broke my heart all those years ago. Now I am a parent too and I still cannot imagine...

Well, this event is fortunately lighter in tone. I will pick up my Sarah's Jenner in the next few days, for old time's sake.


P.S. I just won a hero mech from the charity event stream :-) For whatever reason, I chose a Mean Baby. Will treasure it always.

My son is high spectrum autistic, its been an interesting ride with him, highly intelligent, although social skills as with most autistic people do not apply, brutally honest and any comment can come out of his mouth. I never taught him that he could not do this or that because he had autism, so he is an avid gamer, has a full time job, drives, and an associates degree in general education. At 26 he is doing well. He will probably never leave home just because he feels this is his place to be.
