Needed a "Burned by bad mechs too many times" button.

This makes sense but it also kind of puts PGI in the cross fire of the "It's OP until it's released for cbills" and "I want a strong mech".

TBH, without over buffing/quirking idk how PGI could offer a for sure strong mech because frankly geometry determines destiny and sometimes the player base asks for bad mechs or and sometimes PGI's implementation hurts it.

I want to buy finished products but get punished for it by missing out on content such as decals, camo-patterns and colors.
Cause when ever a pack is close to release and we get to see the stats and models and all that stuff that would make us want to buy it then, well, by that time there is no point anymore cause all the good stuff is gone so might as well wait another few months for the C-Bill release.

I still don't get why those bonuses aren't there when the hype is at the highest. =S

A discussion thread for this question. Russ believes players have so many mechs that interest just isn't what it used to be.

However I have seen some say that the number of mechs isn't what stopped them from buying mechs so why did you stop buying mechs or why do do you think fewer people buy mech?

A couple things came together.

about 3 years ago, I found myself unemployed, and had both computers get fried within 2 weeks of each other. Just as I was getting back on my feet, got a new job, my mom passed away, and I had to drop everything (including my new job) to fly north and settle her estate, and set things up to take care of my disabled brother. The next 2 years after that were largely devoted to taking care of his needs, until he too, passed, last summer.

During that time, I did finally get a new laptop, but the clan I was a part of underwent some huge shifts in membership and personality, lack of functional hardware and a shifting of some of the more whining toxic players kind of taking over the forums more, I just found it harder and harder to get back into playing the game when I was finally able to again. Also, around this time, the new Tech was released, and a lo of Quirks got majorly shifted, having a lot of my preferred rides on to the scrap heap.

So, it's been a perfect storm of event that has strongly reduced the purchases I make. I simply have not had the hardware to play, the group to play regularly with to keep it fun, or the liquid income to buy for the sake of.

Still, I have fund ways to get specific machines when they crop up, if I especially have pushed for them, the latest one being the Dervish, the last one before that, I think was the Vulcan? Before that, I have almost every IS mech aside from the Javelin, Osiris and Flea, which I picked up later for Cbills, because I simply did not have interest in those designs.

I came to realize that I suck at Light and Assaults, so unless it's something like the Urbanmech that I really love, there is no reason to buy designs I am not going to use.

So now, I am just very very particular on which machines I will buy.

1) Lack of new content
2) Lack of improvements
3) Promises that never done

Last pack i bought was after heatsinks dissipation buff. I'm not buying anything before smth positive done for this game. I've invested here much more than in any game in my life, with believes that PGI would make this game better and better. Instead we have game stuck at it's launch status just adding pixels for sale (and thx designers for you great work, its the only light in shadows). More of that continous nerfs and balance changes force lots of my friends to drop playing and brings frustration into a gameplay. I love what the team done in the beginning. I believe that is what keeping us here for years. I dont like money making style which was applyed to this game after. I'm still ready to support PGI byuing packs but only if that comes with some positive changes:

1) Reworking Tiers/matchmaker
2) Reworking/adding gamemodes
3) Mobility buff
4) Reworking FW so it wont be such a meaningless wreck
5) Same for Solaris (that tonns of divisions lul)
6) Same for Comp Play (community thoughts been sent to PGI)
7) Separate GQ and QP leaderboards, GQ variable players count for a match to make MM faster, allow solo players to joing GQ

I think that this game doesnt need more maps/mechs right now. It needs current gamplay to be refined much more.

That is so much that could be done here with minimal efforts. But developer says that creating mechpaks is not returning investments anymore, lul. Looks like there are little to no developers left, all whats left working on a singleplayer indie MW5 which would be interesting for couple of months. I believe thats max time for shooting AI. Mechwarrior for me always was shooting at mechwarriors not computer dummy.

We told it PGI for years: mechpacks are no content.

Three reasons:

1. The new mechs bring virtually nothing new to the table (no unique abilities)

2. There are no new weapon systems or anything which makes you feel that there is anything invested anymore into keeping MWO alive

3. It is Lock-On Warrior Online and less fun than ever (for me) because firepower and armour is trumping speed in nearly all cases and lights have to break off or get lurmed or ATMed to death..and if they are unlucky to run into a streak boat it is game over

That aside it was sooo predictable that Solaris would suck donkey balls and it was implemented anyway.

On my first account (which was burnin2nd no g) i bought what ever i had to buy to be a founder, not the legendary founder though the 2nd or 3rd one they offered

I pretty much ran that account in to the ground.. sold a mech that i couldn't buy again and then started a new 2nd account

* all before you could change name.. I remember those support ticket days..

anyway.. I didnt buy much except mc when it would go on sale.. then i bought the IIc jr7 because i was and still am and always will be a light pilot... that was a light that i would have not have had the chance to buy again ...

on that note...

i learned real fast.. that spending money on a free to play game will be worthless when it comes to people who want to (*exploit) use the math of the game... there are mechs that will always be bad.. because of the math that this game uses to calculate its hits and registry

it was one of the first major patches that they did... and the several that followed just phased certain things out

so i guess the answer to why did i stop buying mech packs.. Is because i never started...
you can grind a billion Cbill (and lately they are giving away thousands of Mc, which they didnt do 2 years ago )

I stopped buying 'Mech Packs purely because they aren't releasing 'Mechs I want to play.

I don't want a Dervish. I don't want a Rifleman IIC, a Warhammer IIC, a Charger, or a Hatamoto Chi.

I do want a Raptor. A Men Shen. A Black Hawk-KU. A Blackjack Omni. A Toyama. A Lynx. Even a damn Dragonfire, I'd probably buy.

Two reasons:

Matchmaker makes playing anything other than Deathstrike/MCII-B/Sleipnir and perhaps a couple more mechs a torture because it makes no distinction between top 0.5% players and my sorry аss.

This leads to reason number two - I have a ton of unskilled mechs as it is.

They once said that they cannot make 4 legged mechs because the programmer who was able to use the Frankenstein Cryengine had left.

It can be done now. But.....oh well. Guess it takes a genius to figure out how to program (animate) 4 legged stuff.

New maps, new game modes, re-sizing of the 35t Lights that were kicked in the cans like the Firestarter, Assaults like the Victor getting their mobility back, Assault JJs reverting from hover mode back to proper JJs. Faction Play getting proper updates that the Community suggested time and again instead of the ramshackle drib that it became in the last patch.

This would have got me buying more mech packs, even ones I didn’t care about, and I’ve picked up a lot of mech packs in the past. Now? Not likely, not unless something drastically changes in the direction of this game outside of keeping the lights on.

I stopped when patches kept making gameplay worse and worse. Engine desync, spl nerfs, ermed nerf, ppc/uac/mpl nerfs, lrm buffs, plus the lack of content besides more mechpacks and the declining enthusiasm for the game. It certainly wasn't the number of mechs, in fact I'd love to have double or more if the gameplay was enjoyable.

There's no "I stopped buying Mechs because the game turned into a dumpster fire" button.

1. It is sort of silly to spend thousands on a game.
2. All the mechs I have ever wanted are in the game, except 1.
