- Hide behind cover
- Wait for teammate to spot an enemy
- Put reticule over target
- Step out of cover
- Fire
- Step back into cover and wait to cool

Here, I fixed it for you. Despite LOS lock and spread buffs, this is still how "aggressive" forum lurmers still play. This is what we're actually talking about and why ellron has no room to criticize anyone for having a toxic attitude towards teamplay. He is easily the worst offender in the category.
What you're attempting to describe is the best practice fine art of trading; which doesn't require a lock but does require exposure.
As usual; you're wrong on many levels. Trading isn't why FAIT are considered toxic, and altho they are a bunch of dickheads I'd rather have them than the guy who never exposes and lobs auto aim into buildings 4 waves every game.

Anyone trading who knows what they're doing isn't just waiting for a target to be spotted. If one is spotted sure, it helps limit exposure and increase accuracy because you can pre-aim.
Generally though, basic situational awareness is all you need, and if a trader is firing as often as their cool down or heat allows it's all good.
Nobody benefits from just standing in the open and eating damage, so if you're trying to call that noble or ideal gameplay I'd have to disagree.
There are certainly people who trade who do so in ways that throw the game, but that often comes down to truly bad builds, or poor positioning.

Somebody has to spot for the lurm. Not many people are willing to sacrifice their own mech for another's enjoyment. If that's not noble I don't know what is.

I thought that's who this was thread was aimed at. Whenever I see an X type of player is bad thread, I always assume it's aimed at the players who can't do it properly. My post is an example of how a bad player camps/snipes/pokes, just like how Protos example is how a bad player lurms. The entertainment always comes from the people who take offense; bad players take offense because they got called out on their simplicity, "good" players take offense because they like to imagine themselves as more complex/superior in how they play.

What would be “noble” would be not getting nuked by a teammate lrm-ing (usually without LOS) when I am in a short range brawl with another mech. That’s what would be noble..... I am not spotting, nor sacrificing my mech for you (although I have been team killed by lrms like most of us have).....I am in a fight with your target. Check your fire unless you are sure you have a clear lane....if you do, lob away.....if not....refrain.
If I just had a nickel for every point of lrm team damage I have taken over the years...smh

If you're still confused there are several good streamers worth watching.

I know the feeling, although I tend to find it happens with strikes more.
When you're brawling and the enemy has a lurm boat you should be position yourself so this happens to them. Nothing makes an enemy saltier than face mashing your opponent and letting their lurm boat score the kill...

1. Lrmers can spot for themselves
2. I guess my issue is just that many teams in QP literally don't shoot at the enemy and intentionally take horrendous positions (like low ground with no visibility that can be attacked from all sides) and then try to justify their behavior. Why launch just to be a punching bag?

-you- freshen it up;
btw: nobody here hates lurms (I guess); just your poor usage of them, to ruin each match you somehow sneak into.
see.. I don't blame anybody for starting out bad. it its THAT mentality however, why you stay bad.
playing bad on purpose is nothing short of trolling, and should be handled by a ban.
same trash, different name. only they don't need the rest to hold locks for them.
topic finished.
Oh.. I guess you weren't done.. Are you done now? Topic finished?
Ok..

Why do you even allow them to dish out that much dmg? Isolated snipers are weak vs mobile skirmishers. And if theres multiple bigger mechs you just push their weakened front line or harass the snipers. Juicy targets.
