Maybe something with a lot of pulse lasers, like say a penetrator, or a GUillotine. GLT might be fun

the beermech...
http://www.solaris7....nfo.asp?ID=1291
1 er large laser, 2 er med lasers, 2 mg's, and most importantly 22 tons of beer and food. Whoever came up with the beer mechs on solaris7 should have been in the FRR with that sort of forward thinking.

also if there are zombie mechs, this bad boy will killem deader then dead.
also, if my nova cat should go down, ill be useing my backup mech, an atlas with 5 flamers in each arm, 16 machine guns in the torso with a special equipment that makes machine gun ammo out of dead zombies, and the armor is painted in holy water based colors that burn evil zombies if they try to climb up it.

As it is in the 3049 timeframe, I can safely say... Daishi (aka: Dire Wolf).
Pack it with 20 Double Heatsinks, as much ferro-fibrous armor as the frame can handle, and a full set of Medium Pulse Lasers, backed with a quartet of Flamers for the ever-classic "mass-incineration" approach.
And load M.A.S.C. for a little extra speed.
Finalize this with a few engine upgrades, and it's all set.
Keep away from other MechWarriors, turn all shamblers into roadkill, and find some way off-planet ASAP... preferably with my 'Mech.
Bear in mind, ladies n' germs, there is always "overloading" your 'Mech.
In this case, I refer to going over the Standard Acceptable Weight Limit (SAWL for short).
Bigger frames, like the Daishi, are designed to take the strain of moving 100 tons of war machine at 30-40kph, and with the larger engine I fully intend to have along, I can fit a couple tons of food n' basic supplies onboard... using a hermetically attached cargo container on the shoulder opposite the repurposed missile rack.
There's also the fact that your 'Mech is, what? A fully mobile nuclear reactor! So you don't need to worry overmuch about carting along a cheap generator, you're piloting one!
Trust me, if a 'Mech frame is designed for warfare, it can handle being a couple tons overweight. Just keep away from those who would otherwise demolish you.

and as already mentioned:
they´re zombies, what could they do against cold, hard Steel: NOTHING. shooting Zombies with Mech weapons would be waste of Ammo/ Energy. I´d Simply ROFLSTOMP over hordes and hordes of them all Day.
wanna make it more interesting? make it a Tyranid Apocalypse instead!
I´d take a Dire Wolf in both cases, for i just love that thing.
(or maybe, if i was drunk enough, I´d fight off the Zombies in an Urbz, shouting "beware of the Trashcan of DOOM, zombie scum!")
