OK but where does it say that SOPA & PIPA have been quashed?
It's been all over the news, or was a few days ago when it happened.
Basically, they've been put on hold, indefinitely.

They're not coming back, either. You wont' find a
source that says that, but few politicians are crazy enough to support it anymore. Democrats largely don't like it, Republicans largely don't like it, and even if some in either party do, there's less and less willingness to admit it. In the GOP debates, just a bit back, every single candidate was not only denouncing it, but it was almost like they were trying to outdo each other (except for Santorum, who's statement sounded like a BS way of saying "I actually like this bill, but if I say so, my election chances are going bye-bye").
What's going to happen is other bills are going to come about, and this is where we really
do have to be vigilant, not just about shooting down the bad ones with all the fury that hit SOPA/PIPA, but also perhaps in getting behind a
good bill, if one is proposed, because that'll stop the threat of bad bills.
One example of the bills coming in the wake of hte SOPA/PIPA disaster is OPEN (
http://www.pcworld.c...e_open_act.html), which I'm skeptical of, for obvious reasons, but which tentatively sounds like it might be a more sane law, if passed. The fact that it has the support of a lot of the companies who opposed SOPA/PIPA isn't nothing, and even more significantly, the MPAA hates it apparently, which is
always a good sign (the reason they hate it is they know if something like it passes, their chances of a SOPA-type bill become nill).
Interesting times, no?
