If you think I am being overly sensitive and you live in North America, maybe just google Grand Dragon and see what pops up. I'm on a VPN and a Private Browsing Session and the first five results are about the KKK. Then a few hotels in Asia. Then more KKK results.

If you aren't from North America, then I understand you may not know about the KKK or the fact that high ranking officers from the Klan were called Grand Dragons. Now you know.

(Oh, and the BT 'mech is nowhere on the front page.)

I think the OP has a valid point. I mean, if it wasn't intended originally to be offensive, but is now considered offense due to the adoption of the name by a bunch of racist jerks, I don't have a problem changing the Mech name.

I think we could still keep things mythical in nature, too, to keep in mind the original intent of the name. Something that would fit in with Japanese lore, like the mythical creature of dragons did. It didn't really exist, if not for tall tales.

If the combination of words is the problem, then let's just change the name of the Mech itself, as I like the idea of the word 'Grand'. It conveys the largest or most important item of its kind, according to the dictionary. Given that the Grand Dragon, in the novels, was a one-off design armed with a PPC instead of an AC/5, I think we should stick with Grand. The leader of the whole Draconis Combine piloted it.

So, with the above considerations in place, I propose we rename the Mech the Grand Wizard.

This is your own extrapolation of the words. It's just a name that ties into the in-game culture of the faction that birthed that mech. If you see something racist in it, that's back on you. So maybe look at yourself and think hard about why you are only seeing racist things, you might learn something about yourself.

My vote is to change it, if only to give the middle finger to anything KKK related. I don't believe the name originally had anything to do with white supremacy.

My vote is for: Gurando Dragon which is just the Japanese pronunciation of Grand or Gurando Doragon, either of which pays homage to the origins of this mech.
