Greetings MechWarriors!

This month's Update includes the 7th Quirk Pass, which includes 'Mechs like the Assassin, Dervish, Grasshopper, Mad Cat Mk2 and more (see below), some adjustments to previous Quirk passes, Weapon adjustments, new Trial/Champion 'Mechs, new lighting on Forest Colony Classic, and a couple bug fixes.

We know you have lots of questions about the future of MechWarrior Online, which we will begin answering this Friday, February 25th when we post the MWO Road Map! We will follow that up with a Dev Vlog in early March where we can get into more detail, and hopefully answer some of your questions.

We're excited about 2022 and MechWarrior Online, we hope you will be too!

As with everything, these updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, especially as more variables are brought into the equation with future updates and changes.

'mech adjustments
As a result of a fix with the BAS-E & BAS-E(S) Jump Jets, players may have an Invalid Loadout Error which can be fixed by stripping off all equipment in the MechLab, we are sorry for this inconvenience.


weapon ADJUSTMENTS
As a continuation of our assessment of weapon performance, the following change has been made:

ENERGY WEAPONS
Clan ER Small Laser:
  • Cooldown decreased to 3.2 s (from 3.5)
  • Duration decreased to 0.9 s (from 1.0)
Clan ER Large Laser:
  • Increased heat penalty multiplier to 5.0 (from 4.0)

BALLISTIC WEAPONS
Autocannon 5:
  • Cooldown decreased to 1.4 s (from 1.66)
Clan Autocannon 5:
  • Cooldown decreased to 1.4 s (from 1.66)
LBX-5-AC:
  • Cooldown decreased to 1.4 s (from 1.66)
Clan LBX-5-AC:
  • Cooldown decreased to 1.4 s (from 1.66)
Ultra Autocannon 5:
  • Cooldown decreased to 1.45 s (from 1.66)
  • Jam chance reduced to 0.14 (from 0.15)
  • Jam duration reduced to 5.25 (from 6)
Clan Ultra Autocannon 5:
  • Cooldown decreased to 1.45 s (from 1.66)
  • Jam chance reduced to 0.16 (from 0.17)

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch.
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

I can understand no hand actuators on that trial Kit Fox, but why no lowers? All the weapons in the arms, and gimped weapon mobility... of course, it's an ammo starved SRM Kit Fox ignoring the set-of-8 ammo bonus for a couple JJ on a slow, paper-armor-light, so..., anyway, nothing to see here I suppose.

Appreciate the new trial mechs and quirk pass, but seriously still no quirk passes for the Zeus? Please give this chum some more armour I beg.

I see some good changes for the quirks, although the lights seem to be getting a bit too much love these days. I will look forward to using orions and warhawks more though, thanks. The lighting change for forest colony will definitely be an improvement, gives people without advanced zoom a bit better clarity at range.

I was really hoping to see a new map or a converted map by now though....no one is looking for 'perfection' really... just 'better' and more content.

The ammo quirks are on the side torsos.

RIP Ice Ferret, losing 20% ballistic cooldown has killed you again. On the flip side, the Cougar buff makes it even better than the ice ferret was pre-nerf so at least there's a replacement. Still sad to see a traditionally garbage chassis for public play go from garbage, to amazing, back to garbage in the span of 2 months. The fridge goes back into the Ice box.

It's nice to see the 5-line of ACs get love, but why did the AC/5 and LB/5 get weaker buffs* than the UAC/5? The latter was already a much better gun. I think the cooldown gap should be at least 0.1-0.15 (for reference, the AC/10 and LB/10 get 0.25 faster CD than the UAC/10).

*0.05 faster CD isn't as valuable as reduced jam chance and duration

In terms of percentages, the AC/10 and LB/10 get a 10% CD advantage. The new AC/5 and LB/5 only get around 3.4% faster CD. A 10% faster CD would be 1.305, so my spitball suggestions above got pretty close.
