But this is someone claiming that a whole pile of mechs in the game are cheating because he can't play them effectively.
No, it isn't because he can't play them effectively (though I kinda' suspect that he's never used one at all), it's because he can't play
against them effectively.
That and he mistakes his own personal inability to be evidence of innate imbalance. And you know what? As I said before, I get it. When your computer is outdated, your eyes are old, your reflexes aren't what they once were, your settings aren't optimized, and you don't use interfaces designed for competitive gaming, yeah, nailing light mechs is less than easy. I'm in the same damned boat on this one. I'm trash against lights. However, I've also played a lot of light mechs, and I recognize that they are the hardest weight class to play effectively, the most fragile mechs on the field, and that they generally pack less firepower than heavier chassis.
I've seen top tier players put down lights with less effort than I put into scratching my ***. What doesn't help is that a lot of folks ignorantly proclaim Streaks to be unstoppable anti-light weapons, which they most certainly are not. (The only thing Streaks have going for them is that the lock-on mechanics are forgiving of imprecise aim. I've seen a Locust facetank a full spread of 36 Streaks from a Mad Dog and run away on at least 2 occasions. A Locust facetanking a BoomJager isn't likely to be going anywhere. Last time I got silly and pulled out my StreakDog I plowed multiple volleys into a Panther, and he tanked it like a boss.)
You wanna kill lights? Optimize your settings, work on your aim, use beam or ballistic weapons.
