MECHWARRIOR ONLINE

June 2022 Patch Notes

Patch Date and Time - June 21st 2022 @ 10AM – 1PM PDT
Version Number: 1.4.263.0
Size: 575 MB
Please note that due to compression differences the Steam patch size may be larger than the standalone client patch size.

Greetings MechWarriors!

Last month brought some BIG updates to MechWarrior Online, including the NEW Event Queue (more Event Queue coming this month!), the streamlining of the Skill Tree, and the updated and color-coded Quirk lists in the MechLab.

This month we're very excited and proud to release the first new BattleMech chassis in exactly 3 years, the Crusader, which also happens to be the most-requested 'Mech of all time in MWO! Don't forget, the Early Adopter Rewards are available all the way until July 19th 11:59:59 (PDT) (July 20th 6:59:59 UTC), so you have an entire month to check it out in person and STILL get the the Early Adopter Rewards if you want! Also this month, a BRAND NEW Quick Play map from Level Designer Francois, Vitric Station, which was based off of the Faction Play map Vitric Forge. Screenshots of the Crusader and Vitric Station are below, check them out! Also this month, more Quirk updates, Weapon adjustments, Map updates, and more!

As with everything, these updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, especially as more variables are brought into the equation with future updates and changes.

So get out there and do the science, and get us your feedback for future iterations.

And now, we really hope you enjoy the patch!

-The MechWarrior Online Team

NEW 'mECH: CRUSADER

The Crusader heavy BattleMech is the first new 'Mech chassis to be added to MechWarrior Online in 3 years (the Dervish was added in June 2019)! It's also the most requested 'Mech ever. We love it, and hope you do too!

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Patch File(s): - http://patcher.mwomercs.com/patch/Production/frontend/FrontendPatch_403.zip

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch.
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

Does the 6T crusader have no quirks outside of armor? I mean all the energy hardpoints makes it dangerous as is, I'm just asking if you didn't forget to include it in the patch notes

WHY??

The fog was totally fine in it's last iteration and at least it created a little more atmosphere.

This was based on a lot of player feedback. Many players complained about the fog. If more players complain about the removal of the fog (which I doubt but am open to), then we can revisit the issue. I personally also like atmosphere and non-ideal conditions on maps, but again this was based on player feedback, not my own personal preferences.

That is correct, the Crusader 6T currently only has the survival quirks that all variants have.

New mech looks good looks a bit large for 65 tons though and...lots of arm hardpoints, lol. I'm glad vitric station is more or less mirrored...better for balance, hopefully the spawns will follow that pattern. Currently with HPG, depending on the gametype...it is way too easy for snipers/pop tarts/etc. to take pot shots as you come in to the main area.

The players that turn fog off would get too big an advantage if kept is my guess.

Can't wait to get my hands on a few Crusaders ! :D

Also, interesting to match LMGs to ERMeds effective range, eager to explore that, even with the reduced modifiers,

1. Question: Snub-Nose-PPC: Snub-Nose PPC Ghost Limit has been increased to firing 3x at once without ghost heat penalty for a year now. So what does the patch note say, that has not been done already?
https://mwomercs.com...400-20april2021

Snub Nose PPC...
Reduced minimum heat penalty limit to 3 (from 4)

2. Yay, Crusader, 1st new mech chassis in a long while, and new maps!

Thanks for confirming that Snub Nose PPC reduced back down to fire 2x without Ghost Heat Penalty!

1. To MWO: would greatly appreciate if MWO be more clear, and rever back to April 2021 wording format.
ie:
Reduced minimum heat penalty limit to 3 (from 4) -- Fire 2 with no penalty

and not :
Reduced minimum heat penalty limit to 3 (from 4)

Yes I'm sure not being able to see anything and having to use Heat Vision for 80% of the map definitely created that atmosphere of

So, seriously, what's the problem with fog? Having actual reasons to use the various vision modes seems like a good thing to me - were folks having performance issues with it, or what? I miss the fog.

Wait, you could turn fog off?! Fricking Cryengine... That answers my question above...

Liking the changes to the Snub PPCs, and I already have some build ideas for my Crusaders... which I have to tweak to take advantage of the quirks. Posted Image

I thought it was a good idea when the non 1:2 optimum range to max range ratios were removed from the clan pulse lasers, so why are we now reintroducing them to the light machine guns?

Because 720m max range would be the ultimate distraction tool...

Nice looking new map, removal of fog & added central cover should help make caustic playable, solid initial quirking for the Crusader variants, great weapon changes, and some sensible nerfs to overperformers.

Great patch notes.

The new map looks interesting.

Players loving their Viper-F and Mist Lynx-G had better get their licks in while they still can, they are definitely taking a hit. Something did have to be done about that Viper though...the other mechs getting nerfed besides the Viper and maybe the Mist Lynx though...I would have left the others alone.

Improving visibility on Caustic is totally the way to go. Bad visibility = Bad, period.

Thanks!
