Fire Moth D is an obvious choice, so fast its untouchable by most IS Regulars (Pulse Lasers aside) and can down IS assaults with ease.

I want to second this 'mech, though I am torn since the question was about sheer firepower, which this chassis lacks in comparison to others mentioned.  The reason I like it is its survivability/usefulness in combat is based on sheer pilot shhkilz, and being a gambler doesn't hurt, since some luck is also required.  I mean if a Daishi/Dire Wolf so much as snorts in your general direction your toast!

Hands down it's the Nova Prime. 12 ERML's!

Despite some complaints of its obvious design drawbacks, this would be my choice. The complaints against the poor heatsink to laser ratio can be addressed with some skill, and the as above stated 12 Extended Range Medium LAZORS(!) fully deal with the Dasher's want of firepower.

Nova FTW!

Makes me sad that, unless I missed it, it took until the third page to see this one.

Stormcrow B is a solid choice--55 tons, max armor for its weight, moves at nearly 100 KPH, and has a 82 pt alpha strike. Also, it has a narrower profile than many mechs, making the opposing forces miss more deflection shots and messing with target leading, etc.

Not to try and contradict one of the moderators here...but Heat has to be a factor too in such a
decision, right?

If you can't fire most of your weapons (75%+) without possibly shutting down then that fire-power
doesn't count for much IMHO. One shot wonder.

The Nova Prime can barely fire more than half its weapons without overheating in a major
way...and don't even THINK about jumping at the same time.

It IS a good mech however, the normal load-outs just don't thrill me.
Several of the mech's mentioned by others also have the same problem (Warhawk Prime anybody?)

Weapons load counts for diddily if you can't fire it.
But that's just my opinion.

:D

Stormcrow doesnt have that problem. Yes another one for the Stormcrow!

I don't know much about power to weight ratios, but as far as to what Clan Mechs scare me the most:
The Arctic Wolf
Posted Image
-Fast, takes alot of punishment for an Inner Sphere mech to take down, and has 8 SRMs. (6 SRM-6s, 2 SRM-4s and a Narc Missile Beacon) It also can carry a considerable amount of ammo for these SRMs, and a speed 119 km/h. It gets up in your grill real fast, and when it does it pounds you with insane barrages of missiles, then runs off before you can do much to its armour.

Then, theres the Mad Cat 2. The timber wolf is bad enough without being turned into an assault mech.

I'll admit to not being a big clan fan, that opinion was cemented when a single Rifleman IIc ripped though my entire lance of IS mechs. With 4 Clan Large Pulse lasers and 19 double heat sinks, this thing wrecks stuff at any range.

... I also like the Timber Wolf best because of its combination of speed and weapon power (even a Dire Wolf/Daishi is not save in the presence of a Mad Cat) ... and with regard to a mech with jumping capabilities the Night Gyr is a powerful choice ...

Light: Adder Prime
Medium: Conjurer
Heavy: Close one between Summoner, and Hellbringer, but I have to choose Summoner
Assualt: Kodiak, Mechwarrior 2 Ghost Bear's Legacy intro still gives me the chills *shivers*

Stormcrow Prime. Fast at 6/9, tough with early full armor, a 25 hex max range, and the ability to alpha strike til the cows come home.

Firemoth for light tonnage scouting work...
Ursus 3 for cruising in a medium battlemech...

Kodiak KDK-V1....
Ton for ton is the best mech to scared the pants of your enemy... in my humblest of opinion :)
