3 days before founders program ends they announce that founders will have the option to start their time whenever they want.

hach comeon... they said a´many many times that they were looking into it and work on a solution... you really could have expected that they will find a solution... that´s btw why i didn´t think about a refund for a second... PGI always proved that they listen (i follow this game since announcement) and handle concerns of players quite well... sometimes it takes a while, but they do...

big respect to them btw... i guess it´s not easy with all the rampaging going on lately

27K Legendary Founders. That will be a loooooong Credits-Trailer to watch, to finally find one's name

OK, that's not really my cause for going legendary. I wanted to support this venture, as I'll support Chris Roberts new game. But in prolonging the founders program they made one of the "things" distinguishing Legendary from Elite a mood point. Noone will watch 27k names

Awesome news! Go go PGI , well done guys!

There was a brief article about this on Yahoo Finance http://ca.finance.ya...-170000368.html

Compare our 5.2M -founders program to Kickstart campaigns, we just concluded the most successful video game kickstart to ever.

Russ Bullock@russ_bullock
Why: Amazing MechWarrior fans first and foremost. Just as importantly a campaign that began when there was a real beta product to play.

Cheers.

About a month ago I got a refund for my founders package, clearly stating in the emails back and forth with support that it was because they were forcing founders members to spend their premium time during open beta.

3 days before founders program ends they announce that founders will have the option to start their time whenever they want.

Of course, now it's too late for me to re-buy the founders package. Had they said something even 5 days earlier I could have re-bought. Although I'm overall glad with their decision to push back open beta and allow founders the option to choose when their time starts, I still feel that PGI is SEVERELY disconnected from their customers even now.

I'll be playing this game for free, but for PGI to receive any of my money again I'm going to need to see some significant changes in how they communicate with their customers.

Yeah; stay with that position it makes about as much sense as your first one. :P

When is 'from the beginning'? Because back when I got my refund they had not even hinted they were looking into some way to allow founders to choose their time. In fact, that didn't even come up until the Reddit interview last Friday, and even then it was 'we are looking into the possibility', which is a far distance from a solid answer to the issue.

As for the comment that I'm disconnected from PGI, not the other way around. I almost never see PGI respond to any concerns in the forums or on their website. What I do see is festering complaints continue to get worse and worse and gain momentum like a steam-roller, until the forums nearly implode on themselves. Then, when people start getting so upset that they begin asking for refunds in large numbers, only then does PGI decide to respond. That's what I said PGI is disconnected from their customers. There's little to no transparency with PGI when it comes to concerns brought up by their beta testers.

We give them mountains of feedback and they don't seem to give us much back.

Regardless of how much you try to justify your decision, bottom line is that you flinched and "folded a winning hand".

generally while in a beta, i find the communities always have a lot, and i mean capital LOT of garbage and flame, but the amount of positivism and general good measure goes up as responses are more frequent and frank, even if it's just the teams intern or janitor posting what the watercooler talk was..

only real exception is if someone flat out lies, which can generally be avoided by simply prefacing anything not hard and fast already with the appropriate disclaimers( which also serve to make any rage over a potential or looking into feature or change not materializing look stone stupid to anyone who actually reads the referrent original responses).

gotta accept the rage and flame as background radiation, ignore it and look to increasing the signal ratio.

yeah, in my mind, founders was like investing in a company, non refundable.
I invested because I hoped that this game would be awesome, not for the stuff (though it helped :P )
I would never dream of demanding a refund for my investment

Yup.

I never paid for the "stuff" either I paid to support a team based game. Since they took that from me and my team I asked for a refund. When you are investing in something they say will happen then they back out you should not be shunned for asking for a refund.

I really hope that this game will be all that it can be and will continue to thrive, with 5 Million already I am not sure why they are pushing for more funds by pushing open beta and conforming to the PUG's out there that want to treat this game like its a lone wolf BF3 game.

They did NOT take that from you...let's not be overly dramatic. They are taking a step backwards to take a larger step forwards. And if you love this game and want it to succeed, you'd understand why.

wow... if those are the final founders numbers, id really like to see at least half that many people on when the game goes live. I would love to see what the servers do with that kind of stress lol

Unfortunately it does not work like that. Take WoW, SW:TOR, etc...the number of accounts is many multiples of the population on at any one time.

Most of the "feedback" on the forums is garbage anyway. You need a shovel to sift through the bullcrap. You actually had time to re-buy your founders package last week if you had paid attention. One of the people I play with was able to do that. That email they sent out was fairly transparent.. Overall for a game company they're doing pretty well vs. some of the games I've played.

Yup.

why would anyone want a refund???? are they nuts?? this has been the best money i've spent in a long time and even with the hiccups of beta it's been pretty damn fun. Long live MWO!!!!!!

Yup.

I kind of wonder what would have happened if those of us who asked for refunds never asked in the first place?
Would we be seeing a rushed Open Beta tomorrow?
I think the lesson here is that PGI listened because we spoke with our $$$. Of course, those of us who actually did the talking (got out $$$ refunded) are constantly being told "You jumped the gun" or "you don't care about MWO, go back to COD".
I had the balls enough to ask for a refund because I expect quality and smart decisions from the companies I invest it. They weren't making good decision, so I pulled my investment out. Now, they changed their minds and made some better decisions. I say it was an overall success from the standpoint of those who got refunds.
Note: Investment is not the best word to use, so don't take it literally.

I planned on a snarky comment here, but a few others took the time to rebut your argument and were even nice about it and it still went in one ear and out the other, so I'll pass.

Darn I have the worst luck. I finally get enough money to buy into the Founder's Program and it just ended.

Buy MC in the amount of the package you wanted. You don't get a few of the perks, but it is still a good value. They may run other "packages" as promotions in the future too. GL/HF

Wow, I'm simultaneously surprised and not that the Legendaries beat out the other packages. That should give them a decent amount of capital to keep the ball rolling.

I am glad I spent the money. I want to see this game do well and I never considered asking for a refund. My time spent in the Closed Beta has been a pleasure.

Now let's start to see some fleshing out of the campaign good sirs.

From the beginning, as in when they opened up the Founder's Package for purchase. It was in a Q&A thread that they answered.

Those are some good numbers, I if they keep that ball rolling we should all be playing a great game by the end of next year. I have to agree with so many of you all, I came here to invest in a game I loved and lost touch with after MW4. Now seeing the money they have made I hope they get lots of good talent to help them boost production of mechs for the game. I feel bad for those who refunded for a somewhat logical reason but at the same time every time they did something they said "things may change" Hence the later changing of premium starts. And then later with teams cutting from 8 to 4. This will later be back as teams of 8 but it will set you up vs other teams of 8 for those who didnt look for the info. Hell later its going to be 12 mech teams. Oh and speaking of MONEY, Should we invest in MWO now? When can we buy stock in PGI?

was waiting for the confirmation about what they are doing with the 1/2/3 month subscription time before purchasing, then it closed. I'd just assumed they would extend it again since thats what they did each other time they pushed back open beta.

No great loss though so not particularly worried about it, roll on open beta!

Any idea where we can find the initial numbers?

I hardly think a handful of refunds (I'd think we'd have to see about 9,000 legendary refunds before they feel the dent looking at the current numbers) would've had a significant hand in the recent decision for OB, or other such directions of the game.

Everything thus far has been the results of good developers having good communication with a good community. A combination you rarely see in other existing MMO's. And I'd like to consider myself having done the rounds and "invested more" in those other MMO's.

Hell, I've worked (and still do) with several MMO developers & publishers and I have to say I'm liking how PGI has been handling things so far.

If you got a refund and are happy with it, then good for you. No need to trouble yourself with how people think you "jumped the gun". It was your call... unless of course you're bitter.

I hardly check the news and forums (about twice a month) and I still got the message that the devs are and will always be working on "it". So dunno where all this "I wasn't informed" is coming from.
