RS makes a good point.

Honestly, would it not take years to catch up to someone who has spent most of their life training for combat? It would suggest that the clans are really some **** poor pilots or soldiers if it takes some young adults less than a month to surpass them.

I mean realistically, if we take a civilian with no flight training, it would be some time before they could even perform as an average fighter pilot.

I have no problem with Draco-Sue being the top of his class, I just have trouble believing a canborn Dragoon deliberately kept them out of a sibko their entire life. Nevermind suddenly deciding 'Nah, they'll be fine, I'll just enroll them now. Whatevs'.

Note: I know that wasn't quite the reaction, but I'm summarizing.

EDIT: I'm going to have to go back over the logs, but something just hit me - what kind of lunatic puts a 16 year old into a military aircraft to go joyriding, and how does he not immediately crash and die with no training? I can only hope I'm remembering this wrong...

Just did my Sparks inpersonation and looked it up on Sarna.net, it takes 5.18 days to reach the jumppoint.

Keep at mind that is at one Gee... could push for 2 gees but that would be puting a strain on the dropship and everything on it...

To answer that Phiro had been logging hours in the sim as had Draco, one for fighter one for mech currently posting from phone will have better explanation later tonight.

Damn typo, ANYHOW, HERE IS THE OFFICIAL EXPLANATION. When Dylan had recovered the twins, he placed them separate of each, one with ASF pilots, one with Battlemech pilots. The two boys since then have not only learned the ins and outs of their said specialties, but have also heard of different tricks, jargon, and are through hear say, learning about said tactics, and which weapons to use. Phiro (while under supervision) actually put together his ASF, a rebuilt Centurion, with the cutting edge in engine, and maneuvering capabilities. They also have in their downtime, logged hours on sim pods, and other ways of learning, such as actually getting into the cockpits and learning the layouts of various control sets, and other things. So that on top of a "natural talent", which is kinda a fact that they are young and this is really the only thing they talk about or hear about. That and the fact that these kids were originally born, and kind of raised in Outer Rim, and onboard a Dragoon Jumpship, it breeds a kind of ferocity, and discipline that normal kids do not have.
Also, Thom with your permission I will redo the post where Dylan comes to you and warns you of the assassin, to have the assassin try to kill us both.

Alright homie, don't worry about it Thom...errr D is natrally paranoid (comes with knowing too much, and being basicly a renegade Capellan at this timeline... Plus I'm pretty drunk, so I'm pretty much down for whatever at the moment...) That being said, there is a certain 'natral talent' when it comes to trueborns.. that combined with sim time can manifast abilites that would make IS pilots envious. I can't believe that I just typed that. But remember that nothing compares to real experience. Even the Widow would agree with that..

Oh and GW I have an idea of what to do with your so called ISF (what the Hell does that even stand for?) assassin. If you write it, have her come at me with a knife-punch/katar... I have an idea. Of course that's if you haven't posted yet. I'm gonna do my best to post soon. that's if all the Morgan I've been drinking doesn't get in the way. LOL.

Oh and @ GW how do you know that the assassin is going after D, considering that you've never even met the guy. Unless there's post I haven't read....? Now if you worked into you post that you saw D yaking on holovid talking about the 'accident' out on the proving grounds...

He's been keeping track of everything in the background, so he knows about DeMarkus, but I am not sure if that works both ways. He figures that since Jack is a pirate, and lugging a Claymore as a crutch, she will not **** with him, until she can, i.e. later.

Also Draco, I understand they've been hanging around the Dragoon pilots/mechwarriors, but why were they never entered into a sibko or receive formal training? You have to remember that the discipline that the Dragoons instill in their recruits is because they are a strictly regimented unit. They don't really allow people to just run around and do whatever they want - and if they did, that person wouldn't be highly disciplined. They train in the clan specialization. One man, one specialization. Pilots aren't taught to be techs - techs are looked down on by true warriors, it's menial work, deemed to be beneath them. In 3031, the Dragoons are still reverential of the trueborn style (I believe) so they would have shoved these kids into a sibko and would not have crosstrained them to know how to maintain their own machines - if Phiro helped rebuild a fighter, he isn't being trained as a pilot, he's being trained as a tech. Draco would probably receive some form of minor infantry training, how to use a rifle, but mainly it would be martial arts to hone his body and make it easier for him to pilot a mech.
I'm not trying to mess with your characters or wreck your storyline, but you're handwaving how awesome Phiro and Draco are as 'They were trained by the Dragoons in the clan style and were top of their class' which, while a bit Mary-Sue makes perfect sense, but now that you're examining their training, they haven't been trained in the clan style at all. Hanging around pilots and mechwarriors and learning in your own time normally would train you to a lower than average standard by a fair margin á la Rick, but hanging around clanners could maybe raise them to an average level of training. Which doesn't line up with where you want Draco and Phiro to be later. Perhaps they train with their sibko and in their own time learn to maintain their own machines, sparking a bit of controversy but Dylan backs them up? Draco could try and learn the more advanced infantry training in his own time, which would be why later he gets noticed by the Kommando? Just spitballing ideas here, and genuinely not trying to give out or anything, just trying to help your narrative.
Much as I tend to give out to Draco IC, I do like the guy xD
He's got that underdog feel to him - mainly because every time he gets friendly with Spear, Spear gets p*ssy with him again!

EDIT: Uh Sage, where'd that Cataphract come from o.O I thought the official line was the Rainbow Stables didn't have anything heavier than a medium, barring the two heavies Jack just showed up with.

The reason that they were doing that, was to help deal with the time stuck in transit. I did not say that the first stop they had was at Solaris, but the reason that they made a stop there was because that was the place another Jumpship would be able to arrive from Outreach. Draco and Phiro were also raised as the company as a whole. In the last post I gave a hint to the beginnings of Draco's team, as I had made a reference to Coporal Johnson's beginnings.
