The cockpit shake BS from a small AC2 is what makes it the most stupid.
Without resorting to the L2P crowd, your targeting reticule does not move during all that shaking. It's the 'perception' of imminent danger that you're seeing. Learn to control your panick, act accordingly to remove yourself from there direct line of fire, flank them, and enjoy success. Get use to it now, while they're not doing scary damage, because the JaggerMech will double-up the damage potential you're presently seeing.

Every Mech 'head' has 18 armor, and 15 internal...making a headshot take 33 damage. Divisible by the 2dmg an AC/2 round produces, this would mean 17 consecutive shots (barring criticals). To be fair, two AC/2's chain fired, would take just over 4 seconds (~3secs for 3x, and 2secs for the quad Jagger). Headshotting is not the forte' of the AC/2 builds...psychological warfare is....and it obviously works.
This is why a dual gauss (30dmg) cannot one-shot you without a crit, but a 1x gauss + 2x PPC (35dmg) can.

You can't have a quad AC2 cicada. The weight of the four AC2's alone eats up the tonnage and you barely have 1 ton of ammo left to use. At the rate and very low damage the Ac2 does you hardly have enough ammo to engage a 1-legged hopping jenner and kill it.

Basically what I'm saying is that it usually punishes people who are lazy players who don't realize they are actually taking a pretty serious amount of damage by standing there.

I'm more worried about the Jagermech and the Cataphract that will have 4 gauss at 60 damage. 1 shot just about anything short of an atlas without the need to aim for the cockpit.

Not gonna happen.
1. There's a lot more mechs than just the atlas that have a combined total of more than 60 armor+internals.
2. I don't think Quad guass will even be feasible due to tonnage, ammo, mobility, and survivability concerns.
3. One shot kill builds are already in game..you can only be so dead ya know

This is the first time in this game's development that AC2 has been even remotely worth any tonnage.

quad gauss=60 tons
it also takes up 7 slots per. idk about the cataphract, but i think the jagermech will have all of its ballistic hardpoints on the arms, and no single section can hold 2 gauss rifles. I could be wrong on the placement for either or both of these mechs, but think about this: you would need enough ammo to be viable for a full, long match, let's say at least 10 tons. guns and ammo alone is 70 tons at that point, and then you have to factor in armor, structure, engine, heatsinks...4 gauss is not viable unless you literally hit everything exactly where you want and don't get hit too much. and that's assuming you have the hardpoints/slots for it

...ITT, the op made a statement about the AC2 (The autocannon 2, just in case AC2 was somehow a typo), a 5 ton weapon that deals 2 damage... is too good? So somehow, even an array of them has enraged the op enough to not only create a rage thread about it, but also demand that it be nerfed?
Did I get that correct? Now, bare in mind I have played myself quite a bit of MechWarrior in my day. Now, this I can honestly say that this is the first time someone has claimed the AC2 as being too good, or "OP".
Ladies and gentlemen, I am both skeptical and a bit confused. Someone please clear this up so that I am not horribly misinformed.

AC/2s arnt balanced well at all. Im not saying the AC/2 is overpowered, just that its not balanced well with the other autocannons. An AC/2 should not do more dps than an AC/5 or the same dps as an AC/10, with more range, half the weight, and 6 less crits. All that does is make the AC/5 and AC/10 completely pointless. Higher caliber ACs should do more dps and have more knock than lower caliber ACs. Thats common sense.
