Not really, Ghost Recon Online is 3rd person view, unless your aiming down your sites. And it causes all kinds of problems for anyone trying to be stealthy. This game needs a rear view camera PIP thing, like I think MW3 had, or one of the games. Where you could turn it on and see what was behind like in the cockpit.

Ohhh no. The camel already had it back broken by another straw, got put on a stretcher, brought to the ER, became a victim of malpractice, filed a law suit, lost the legal battle and is still complaining about all of the past unfortunate events.
This could either be the death of said camel or maybe an ice cream truck that hit him....

Wait, wut? First off, VOIP is an intended feature (see c3) that the general community as a whole wants because it increases immersion, fun, and camaraderie... none of which is the case for 3rd person. The general playerbase doesn't want 3rd person, it decreases immersion, it will lower the fun factor for said community, and will splinter us into those who play in 3rd person matches and those who don't. Comparing it to 3rd person is like saying if you use medium lasers then you're a hypocrite if you don't want 3rd person.

The same "They" said that Coolant Flush would never be added because it breaks the heat management mechanic. See how "they said" works?

3rd Person view will completely ruin the feel of this game for the reasons people have mentioned. Less immersion, unrealistic awareness, and the slow creep towards the shoot'em-up fast passed game that we were promised would never be (see: coolshot implementation), etc, etc...
Me and my friends promise NEVER PLAY AGAIN if they implement this!
P.S. "Don't like it don't use it crowd" is missing the point, its not about if "I" use it, its the impact on the actual game for those that do vs. those that don't and it would be one more example of the DEVs abandoning the vision of the game for reasons that no-one actually understands.

This isn't Mechs and Tiaras Online...
It isn't? Then what's with all of the pointless paintjobs and distracting wastes of money they call cockpit customization? I'd buy more MC if there was anything really worth buying. Better yet, I'd pay a 1-time $50 for the ability to convert Cbills to MC. But not now. Now every time they add stuff, it breaks other stuff. LRM downpour, anyone? I love the initial plan for this game but I'm getting bored with deathmatches. Don't say Conquest. It's still almost always a deathmatch. Also, 3rd person = me finding something else to spend my time and money on.
Above being said, if we're gonna stick with the decoration garbage, I want my Atlas to look like a big, brown teddy bear with ears and a light brown belly.

Sir, not only have you hit the nail on the head, but you have also made my day. Cycle watch over you.

The moment that PGI signed up with IGP, they were forced to stop talking to and working with the community, something that was working well and because of them working with us the game was a lot smoother and balanced then it is NOW. They still got flack, but not nearly as much as they are getting NOW.
More to the point. They started going back on stuff that they said would never be in here, and said that they would always AIM for F2P not P2W. While they have held up to the latter, they have nearly broke that one several times.
This is all about money for IGP, I get the absolute feeling that they care nothing for this community or the genre of games.
I have happily supported PGI and would do so time and again, but its soul been sold to the devil pretty much.
Ill stop here and let this sink in before I get anymore frustrated and end up like so many more before me. Banned.

Worse case scenario, assuming you can't peek around and see someone you shouldn't, someone will be able to see a building that you probably have seen 1000 times by now and you should have an idea that something's there anyways. I think after a few rounds, most of us should be able to find our ways around these maps. Just saying...

The issue is more than a few people who want 3rd person want it for more than just looking at their mech. They WANT to be able to look around corners and over hills without leaveing cover. A few people have even said that is want they wanted. I have posted many time on this thread so I have ACTUALLY read all 101 (sry 102 GJ every1) pages. But I not going to go through them to find the post of people who want the cheat factor 3rd person provides. Just know that it does exist.

- Yes we are currently working on a 3rd person option for MWO.
- There is no ETA for when 3rd person will be available.
- Players will never be forced to use or play against other players using 3rd person.
- Reduces friction for non-MechWarrior players, non-core players, and expands the MWO market to a broader audience. It helps to make the game more accessible and less intimidating.
- Offers up a different style of gameplay and tactics.
- Play against 1st and 3rd person players.
- Play against 3rd person players only.
- Play against 1st person players only.
- Players can set their preference in the options menu, or during the launch phase before matchmaking.
- We have not decided on the final implementation of what third person will look like yet.
- We are very aware of the design and balancing challenges faced by adding a 3rd person option and will address these through exhaustive private and public testing before pushing any 3rd person features live.
- It is possible 3rd person will be made available in other regions first. Typically 3rd person is more widely used outside of North America.
- We understand players may be concerned about matchmaking and further segmenting the player base. So are we. Before going live with a 3rd person option, we plan to investigate and solve any potential issues further fragmentation may cause.
- Standard forum rules apply, please be kind, courteous, and clearly communicated your ideas or opinions.
- This is not the place to say you dislike 3rd person.
