Weapon heat generation does not differ between 'Mechs, as far as I know, and I was extensively using 4 MedLas on a JR7-K before recently switching to a Centurion and I had no problem with just 3 extra DHS, plus using an SRM4 every once in a while.
This was the loadout I ran with.
For what it's worth, the Medium Lasers are not even the weapon that would make it dangerous - ECM and Streaks are. How many 3Ls do you see relying on their ML? They only use them as backup weapons and to add to their low-heat missile barrages. With the Cicada it would not be different - just that it is capable of dealing +5 damage if the pilot really wants to. That, and the heavier armor of course.
See the build I posted in #74?
And you don't even need a 340 to reach the same speed, thanks to the hard cap.
I did look at it. If you both have speed tweak, then you have to run a 340 to compete, I don't see where the hard cap comes in.
As a Raven pilot, I rely heavily on the ML's (or SL's) for damage. They are about 40% of the damage done vs anything larger than a light, and more importantly, it is targeted to specific locations, making it much more effective.
In your Jenner, you had jump jets, which provides a completely different engagement dynamic, and would cause you to have shorter duration engagements and allow you to disengage successfully. This thing as is, however, isn't as good as your Jenner due to the lack of jump jets. It can't even have the same loadout, armor, and speed (assuming you didn't have jumpjets). Again, this thing has no niche other than the 30% cbill boost: the Jenner is better if you want speed, and the 3C is better if you want firepower/armor.

As if its pilots would have gone only after 3Ls ...
I think ohto may have meant that the DDC might have Streaks? Otherwise it should be a rather easy win indeed - but an Atlas that can hurl SSRMs should be a challenge, no?
Well, yeah...I mean...equipping 2 SSRM2's in a DDC is a no-brainer IMO. It takes away the one thing that regularly hunts them down other than the A1.
