Eh, that vivid color feel doesn't match the bleak universe of Battletech. It's like adding lolipop fields to Warhammer 40k.

Warhammer 40k has wide ranges of colors though?

And you think battletech is bleak, how cute!

The fact is "realistic" does not equal "brown", nor does "brown" look good.

If you think the defualt color pallet looks good, fine, but don't tell me how it should or should not look or if I'm wrong to want real colors instead of blurry, ugly sepia tones.

Wut? 40k is all about the garish red and blues.

Just like battletech. And macross.

The space marines of 40k are so colorful, they put BT uniform mechs with killmarkings and american flags to shame. THAT is what the settings are about.

If I want concrete and grey, I can go look at the old leadworks in town.

This is 40k.
You have literal black men, with red eyes, in bright green armor, blinged out with lightning bolts, that are fighting pink and black men, with white and gold trim.

The posterboys of 40k are gold and blue. At one point, they were yellow and blue, and in 6th edition, they're leaning more towards the traditional 'blood red space marines allied with the silver space marines that carry more gold bling and paper bits than there are ants in an anthill.'

40k is grimdark in name only. If it didn't have color, no one would bother.

We need a poll or something. The right images are what we need to see. Is there anyway to make my own game look like that? Or would PGI have to reprogram it?

You can add filters to their filters, to filter their filters and grain out. I guess.

I don't know. That seems to be what people are doing. It's funny, because crysis 2 is very heavy on colors. Things like yellow trim on your knuckles, the white camo pattern on your scar rifle, BLUE soldiers with neon green visors, the way your HUD will go from bright ghost in the shell neons to totally RED, the shining energy pellets from the riotgun, red shotgun shells.... Little things like that.

I did on the page before :)...it was on page 9 I believe...

Here is my sweetFX settings cfg that results in this look (subtle improvements)
http://uploaded.net/file/ncpv4qzp

And here is my config http://uploaded.net/file/16hj9hsg for more saturation /vibrance which should result in a look like this

Here is the link to download SweetFX:
http://www.guru3d.co...e_download.html

Glad it helped :D

Hi Blowfeld, I tried installing SweetFX as per the readme file but everytime MWO starts it crashes and goes back to the launcher. Any ideas?

Well, it's funny...that question has been answered before and still people pm me about this again and again... It's all in this topic, how about reading it? :)

Anyways, one last time:

1. download sweetfx 1.3.7z here (you only need that file) http://dropcanvas.com/l46x9

2. extract using winrar or 7zip

3. Locate your MWO game folder, for example c://piranha games/mechwarrior online
copy the dll files and injector.ini into the Bin32 folder of MechWarrior Online. The rest needs to be placed in the MechWarrior Online folder. It will auto run when the game starts and you can turn it on/off during gameplay by pressing Scroll Lock.

4. download one of the two settings files that I posted (the first has less colour, the second is very vibrant) and copy/overwrite the existing one with it.

5 To see the difference, hit Scroll Lock while in your mech and enjoy a better MWO :D

BTW: you can simply config your graphic settings by editing the settings text after downloading it, it is quite self explanatory. Or just use one of the two I have posted, they are already pre edited ...

Yeah this, mostly because at the time the website decided to not download the file but it thought I did so it told me to wait 3 hours to try again after it failed.

Anyway I got the settings and oh god it's so amazing PGI your dull brown art vision is terrible, these colors should be the default.

I'd forgotten what colors look like.

He was asking for you to upload it to somewhere else (like mediafire). Uploaded.net caps you to one download every 180 minutes.

Thanks a tonne for the settings, I'm using your preferred version at the moment and it makes the game look a world better.

Ok,

here is the less vibrant one: http://rapidshare.co...FX_settings.txt
and here the one that shovels colour in your mouth: http://rapidshare.co...FX_settings.txt

But glad to hear that you guys liked it!

My bad, I read the first 9 pages and then came back to check out the last (thought I read it all). I also followed the official SweetFX insturctions but I must have missed the part of putting the SweetFX and non-DLL files elsewhere (I put them all in the same dir).

Anyway it looks pretty cool but I will have to play with the config files a bit more. On this though I notice a FPS drop when using it, not much but for those without high FPS, might not be a good idea to use.

+1 for the cause, you don't realize what you are missing until you see the side by side. Great work!

Well, one can't simply have nice things without paying for them somehow

But just deactivate faux HDR, bloom and SMAA (if any of them are activated) in the settings and the drop should be barely noticable, even on old machines.

BTW: Wow, there had been a lot of downloads of my files in the last 2 days. Hope you guys enjoy the new optics

this game looks great but my biggest problem with it is that all the maps are colorcoded. and the mechs just turn into black or dark grey blobs the farther away they get. at times it just seems pointless to paint your mech because no one is going to see it anyway, because everything turns black or grey once they are more than 100 meters away from you. i'm not saying the mechs should be super bright and shiny and be spotable from miles away. I just want the maps to stop be color coded, and have a bit more color variaty

They need some color filtering to create distance on the maps. Just the same it is a bit overdone and the Mechs need to emerge from the filtering at close range so they sort of Loom into view.
