Q&A Ask The Devs 30 will represent a change to our formula. Now, you’ll ask question as always - however, we will take the five best questions and answer them, in large, essay-like format. This will take place every two weeks, instead of weekly.
We think this new method will provide more in-depth answers, and give us more time to provide great answers.
So please, ask away!
1.) Which variants of the Flea, Highlander, Blackjack, and Orion are planned for implementation in MWO?
2.) With regard to a new format for the Ask the Dev sessions, will you consider reinstating the original short-answer format as an addition to the essay format, so that some questions (like (1), above) that do not necessarily need or warrant an essay-like response might still be answered - and if not, why not?

Why would you want to keep a useless weapon in your game?
You had the perfect opportunity here to make the MG a viable light ballistics weapon, on par with the Small Laser. Instead, you choose to keep it useless until the enemy is almost dead already.
Why did you decide on this course of action, and how do you expect anyone to actually equip the MG even after the buff?

What is the number of accounts that have not logged in for 7 days or more during the last 60 days.
TL:DR - What is the size of the active playerbase - What is the retention % of that active base.
I suspect that hard questions will be ignored, much like the ECM one...or at best glossed over as "fine"
Question Number 2 - And just as likely to go unanswered.
Why are your matchmaker updates designed to kill off competitive 8v8 matches, Given the support for the initial RHOD and PGI's keenness to take credit from it with the publishment at the end, why has every matchmaker update been piecemeal, and designed in such a way to make such tournaments more difficult, culminating with MM P3 which will all but eradicate the ability to pre match given the differences likely in the ELO range.
Why have simple systems (hello pre lobby) not been implemented at the same time?
Why are you trying to kill off the community based competitive scene when your in no shape to implement your own.

a) Currently how many designers, programmers and analysts are working on the game?

Also:
Do you refuse to answer loaded questions about ECM because you are evil or lazy?
Thanks

Could we get the ability to permanently buy colors and camo schemes for mechs? Even if it could only be done via MC instead of cbills and even if you need to buy that color for each variant? The reason I would like that is so that I can switch between the colors of the team I play for, and then switch back to the colors I like to run when I am playing by myself without penalty.
In League of Legends, once you buy a skin for a character, it was yours to keep permanently, and you could freely switch between skins. I, personally, will not be buying any more colors or camo schemes until there is a permanent option. It just isn't worth it to pay every time you want to switch.

The most important: how can you possibly think ECM is okay?

i) Counters Artemis
ii) Counters BAP
iii) Counters TAG bonuses and the whole system inside of 180m
iv) Counters NARC - a system which weighs more and requires real skill and teamwork to use
v) Counters other ECMs
vi) Destroys LRM locks (absent holding a TAG laser on a potentially lag shielded mech)
vii) Destroys SSRM locks (absent holding a TAG laser on a potentially lag shielded mech)
viii) Ruins information sharing via minimap
ix) Scrambles HUD display of enemies
x) is a better AMS than AMS itself
xi) Requires no exploding ammo
xii) Generates no heat
xiii) Costs less than a much less useful module by a factor of 15
xiv) Doesn't use up a weapon hardpoint

If so how will the Clans be introduced?
Any netcode updates?
If netcode issues are resolved when can we expect 12v12?
Will ECM be tuned to be more how it was in previous games?
When can we expect more depth with information warfare?
Bonus (Not important and would not need a full answer but would be nice to get some acknowledgement)
Any chance of a MWO community day in Vancouver, BC?

I do get that there's still a lot of in-game issues of higher precedence than CW. It is a good thing that the developers are focusing on resolving those, so please don't take this as complaining about the lack of CW updates/features. I'd rather have the 'Mech aspect of the game working before introducing an overarching metagame that could potentially be influenced by game imbalances and bugs.
Also, it would be great if the developers could address, in-depth, Tolkien's question about ECM.

What is the status of Community Warfare? Not asking for ETA's/timelines, but is it progressing at all? Have the goals remained as posted in the forums? Such things tend to evolve a lot over their development, and the latest information we have in regards to CW (a critically important aspect of gameplay) is years out of date. Basically, is it being actively developed at all, or are you focussing on the current gameplay first?
I ask, because in addition to the obvious curiousity and Wanting To Play With New Toys, if CW has been shelved for the near future, are there actively developed alternatives such as a lobby system or some such so we, as players, can set up our own games, allowing us to design campaign play on our own and play out the battles here?
Really, what I'd very much like to see is some updates to the various Command Chair posts. There's a lot of awesome stuff in there, but most of it has been sitting collecting dust for a very, very long time.

When do you think the Command Console will start doing these things?

In MWO ECM prevents ANY missle lock, Streak missle lock (with no dummy fire option), target identies (not a tabletop issue, but necessary for team communication - like Identifying what the blue blob is in thermal vision on the night maps).
Right now it's acting as an informational cloaking device, rather than just simply a counter to BAP/Artemis/NARC.
My (essay) questions: Why does ECM do SO MUCH MORE than it does in tabletop? -and- Why can't it simply be a counter to Artemis/BAP/NARC/(C3) and everyone could have it? - and- If not every mech can have ECM, then why not just give it to scout-type mechs?
