That wasn't my quistion, BladeXXL, but thanks anyways.

In fact: I'd done a few tests on my l'ill HTPC, and suspect any dual-core must set an sys_MaxFPS to ether 45 or half their monitors' refresh; Convetional Wisdom about First Person Shooters (the descent of Simulations) goes "you want a minimum of 45;" I would add you want any framerate of 45 or less to be steady. Steadiness becomes much less important as framereate goes up …

At any rate: If your cores, or card for that matter, is redlined in the Training Grounds, set a framerate limit …

I just read the dmp file and the Omicron file and I got this:

Initializing AI System
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_joystick_gain
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_joystick_sensitivity
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_joystick_throttle_range
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_joystick_invert_throttle
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_joystick_invert_pitch
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_joystick_invert_yaw
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_joystick_invert_turn
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_joystick_deadzone
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_fov

So did they disable the .cfg again?

Folks, just because it says "unknown command" doesnt actually mean its not working.

cl_fov = generates "unknown command", but it still works.

the only way i can tell really is making adjustments and then checking visuals in match or training grounds.

Same error here on latest download...Going to try the shared spoiler few pages back. Thanks for efforts.

Really felt PGI was going to get a film grain toggle option in the UI 2.0. Bummer. 3050 high dev bunny ear saga continues. Just look at the quality of that static!

I'm looking into this now.

Those of you with ATI cards may want to try the new 14.1 BETA drivers

The user cfg package is again working you can download the package from here.

Nothing is gaurenteed to work right now. Nothing in this package afaik violates the TOS. You use this at your own risk, as always.

Did anyone manage to figure out which commands are working and which are not? Want to filter out useless lines off my user.cfg.

However, with certain other commands that don't work, the cl_fov stops working. It's actually IMHO a good way to test commands. If your FOV reverts to normal, the other command isn't working. I'm not sure if MWO just ignores the user.cfg entirely if there's a command that's not allowed or if it just stops using the cl_fov, but there's that anyways.

Huh. I had a that same patch (at least I think it's the same) from some time ago, but it was disabled a few patches back. Will give this a go - Getting rid of that hideous film grain if nothing else will make me happier.

Now, if I can just get post processing to actually turn off, so I don't have that enraging softness to everything and blur... *sighs*

Hey guys. Quick question about the user.cfg file.

I can't seem to get mine to work. I'm using the Col Pada cfg files and while FOV changes do work, graphic changes don't seem to do anything.

I wasn't sure if it was doing anything at first so I set the graphics in game normally to low, got a high fps, quit the game, installed the highest grade Pada cfg file but when I load it up again I still get low graphics setting and a high fps, when my computer shouldn't be able to handle high settings very well at all really.

Would love a bit of help as I really like fine tuning things until they're exactly where I want them, which isn't possible with the normal in game graphics controls.

Cheers!

run the repair tool. delete the cache folder under user/shaders. try again.

your naming the file with your config user.cfg i hope.

make sure ingame video is set to ultra high, all options to ultra high, post-processing to low.

post here again if it's still not working.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately it didn't seem to do any good.

I set in game video to Ultra high except for post-processing as you said. Then I ran the repair tool, deleted the cache, and tried the high cfg file you gave (renamed to user.cfg). Went into the game, got about 27fps on canyon network training ground. Seemed ok but to make sure it was working I ran the repair tool again, deleted the cache and tried the low cfg file. No difference when I loaded it back up, still getting 27fps on canyon network and it looks mostly the same, although my powers of perception are weak as hell.

I'm guessing this isn't normal behaviour? Surely I should have a very noticeable difference in FPS between both extremes of config files? I think I'm aiming for around medium anyway but using the extremes seems like a good way to troubleshoot this.

The user.cfg file in general must be working as fov changes do work.

Thanks for being so helpful!

Hey Colonel, anything we should do "IF" the DX11 patch hits tonight? Changes to the User.cfg file? Do you have anything juicy we can add perhaps? ;)

Yes. Find this line:
q_ShaderPostProcess = 4
and either remove it, or put a ; infront (comment out to disable it).
This one makes DX11 eat itself alive.
you need to use the slider for PostProcessing ingame for any change of that instead.
