Using the config from post #97 with your suggested DoF 1 makes it look like I've been playing MWO for the longest time without my prescription eyeglasses! The difference is just shocking. The game looks so much better without that cloudy haze covering the entire screen.
Thank you for continuing to tweak this since the CB, it's very much appreciated.

Would be great if your link didn't try to give me a virus. Luckly my virus protections caught it. Not saying you did it on purpose but just a warning for everyone to beware.

Would be great if you don't spread misinformation on a false positive, or, if in fact there is some "virus" actually pm me and link me the "supposed" virus the site is trying to "give" you
you need to create the user.cfg file and edit attributes.xml for the config to work.

What exactly should include a virus in this package?
Its only text files and one engine graphics thingy...

Intel® Core i5-3350P CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
8136MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 620
And the finishing blow: Windows 8
altough, i don't think this is a horrible setup, for my first real gaming computer which costs less than 800 euros.

Honestly, there isn't much wrong with your rig. That GT 620 is a massive bottleneck for you. Your cpu is more than adequate, so is your ram, and windows 8 isn't a negative factor when it comes to this game. Your gpu is seriously holding you back though.

XML edit is needed for those user.cfg to work and assets have to be copied.
http://mwomercs.com/...wo-game-client/ tells me it's forbidden since march.
But it's not a clear statement, will just support be lost if one uses the cfg + xml edit + assets or could a ban be the result?

If this was a problem, PGI would delete this thread.

Haha i actually laughed outloud.
620 and windows 8, your life is miserable, You paid for windows 8, but you should be using the more stable, reliable and of course... compatible (with all things) Windows 7. Do yourself a favor and get Windows 7. I'd rather play games in linux through wine (terrible performance usually, if the game will even run) than have that abomination of an operating system installed on any of my computers.
Otherwise, apart from the graphics card which is essentially not a gaming card at all, your rig is really solid. You bought mostly the parts i would have myself if buying computer with that budget.
In my opinion though, you need at least a GTX 460, 550-Ti, 650 or 750 or better to be able to call it a gaming computer. So if you want to upgrade your performance, the best thing you can do for your gaming rig is buying a GTX 660-Ti card if it's still on the market. (great card for a good price) if the 600 series are out of the market, just get the latest (right now 700) series of x60 or better if you can afford it, don't go lower than x50.

Get a better graphics card, if that is not an option and you already have your game at lowest settings, please note this (applies to any game).
The most graphically intense tasks are usually
1. AntiAliasing
2. Shadows
I recommend you make sure Motion Blur is enabled, Post Processing is at it's lowest, Damage Glow is off, AntiAliasing is off, Shadows are set to low and Effects is set to low, and Particles is set to low. After that try turning down environments.
If none of that is working out for you, then you'll need a custom config.

to lower depth of field to 1 you'll have to set post processing to low.
smoke is particles I believe. shadows set them to low for now.

I noticed you have some wrong values in the PGI/Default settings.
For example
r_EyeAdaptationFactor is default set to 0.5 (took me a while to figure this out to get that dark color back)
cl_fov is default set to 60 (super low!! might think this game was designed for 800x600 displays) not 75. but 75 is a great FoV, after testing 60-90, 75 was the sweet spot for me. It also just so conveniently happens to match exactly for some mechs (like jagermechs) because their arms block the view on the sides exactly where the edge of 75 FoV ends.
Then patch happened, and this
Some settings work, but many don't. My shader and texture settings for example do seem to be working. Sunshafts too. I looked for an alternate method to get rid of DoF but without success. I don't have a list over what doesn't work, but even before the patch HDR and ColorGrading settings didn't seem to do a thing for me. My game looks gorgeous as it is however, if it only werent for the DoF.

those settings are intentional like fov = 85, this is a personal preference. same with eyeadaptation.
the only way to get rid of depth of field for now is to set post processing to low right now.
