Fixed by reinstall. Now i have a new and entirely different freeze/crash that happens during player loading after map load.

No, screen freezes, cannot alt-tab

During team creation after map has loaded. so far always before full teams are showing

map has loaded, environment loaded, team filling UI comes up showing names and types of mechs. some players enter, then game freezes.

similar freeze can also more rarely happen during gameplay, seemingly random.

not always

no video settings changes. full reinstall as of today.

I have the game freeze randomly during a match.


Was any error message provided with the crash, if so, which?

No, game just freezes, last second or so of sound loops over and over again. System does not go out of this condition by itself, has to be alt-F4ed or quit via task manager

Where in the game or menus did the crash occur?

During a match

What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?

Not reproducable, random. However it seems like it happens just in the moment when a lot of missiles hit their target

Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps?

Very rarely since I deactivated multi GPU in my NVidia control panel, but some 6-10 times per evening (approx. out of 50-70 games)

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?

Ultra high, 1920x1080, full screen. Tried changing them down to high or even medium for a while, problem persists

What are your System specs?

it just happened, that my mouse cursor appeared during matches. Was a bit irritating. Was going to restart the client, but it wont't close without use of task manager. And even the task manager takes ages.

Well I guess i'll be adding the "more of the same" feedback :

After the latest patch, the in-game Screen freezed shortly after "system nomnomnom..." (any map) and the sound repeating itself over n over. Other software & system seems to be normal.

Its Alt - f4 or the Ctrl - Alt - Del...and then i have to wait for my mech because it's still stuck inside ;)

I've tried the windowed mode (Not working) & reducing the Particles to Low (Not Working)

My system is kinda old but it can play smoothly before this last patch :

Where in the game or menus did the crash occur?
Game crashed while fighting another mech. The error happens frequently and without warning.

What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?
I was running Heat Vision and shooting at another mech. Issue seems to happen when running head vision and LRM missiles are on screen. However, this is not always the case. The issue seems to be intermittant and is not always replicable.
Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps?
No, I'm not always able to replicate the issue. Some times I'll be able to play 10-15 games with no issue. Other times it'll happen every match.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
System is running the latest full release nVidia drivers.
Game settings are set to "very high"
nVidia image settings are set to "Let the 3d application decide"
No video settings have changed

Every 2nd the game freezes up. Not a good advertising for MWO.

ok im getting this freeze clients lots and lots of times after the last patch. i was playing a game and my client frooze and that happened to 2 of my lance mates at the same time. this is getting really annoying. never had 4fps bug or DC's..... but now its pretty much unplayable.

i repeat. it happend to 3 ppl at the same time in my lance.

all running nvidia cards.

Jesus, i can build a more stable and better working Mech-Game in Second Life in less than 1 month! All i need is 500 bucks a months - or an own server. What's wrong with the devs? The sales bug, we got an hotfix immediatly - but a REAL bug? No reaction since 6 days now.

The issue with the game seems to be LRM based. Every time i hear LRMs hitting a target the game will crash. This issue is incredibly frustrating. A simple "we're looking in to this issue" would alleviate a lot of frustration in the community.

Again, on the sales bug, we got an hot fix very fast, but on that stability bug? Nothing, not ONE word from the Devs. since 6six days now we want to know, what the devs will do on this. We want to know, how long we have to wait. Aren't six(!) days enough?

Guys, all you had to do was an rollback on the engine itself - and the issue would have been solved.

It can't be, that sales issue brought us an hot fix very fast, but a real issue is ignored for 6 (!) days!

What the fu** are you doing? It's not new, and we need a reaction of the devs. An OFFICIAL reaction. We waited long enogh, we tried our best to help.... but we did not even get an official STATEMENT?

As i wrote, on the sales issue, we got an immediate patch.... but not on the real issue. What should we users think? "As long as some can play all is ok?"
DO someting. A lot of users left.

Good evening,

I'm writing to report that I'm having issues with freezes, about one battle in ten. There seem to be two different freezes.

The first type happens most often. The video freezes and audio loops the last second or so. I have to start the task manager to end the client. This only started happening since 5 patches ago. Before that I had no issues. I downloaded the first four of those patches very close together, so I can't narrow it down as to which version first had the issue. I was having the issue before the last patch however. I haven't seen this type of issue with any other game I play. I haven't found any particular action that triggers the freeze. It just happens. The second freeze seems to be video only. I have control of my mech, and hear weapons fire when I press a trigger. Alt+tab to the desktop and back to the game fixes the issue, so this is just inconvenient. I have seen this in DDO, so there's a chance it's a (video) driver issue.

I'm running a Core i5-3470 and nVidia GTX 660. The video options are set to Medium, full screen, 1920x1080. OS is 64bit Win7, SP1.

No error message.
  • Where in the game or menus did the crash occur?
Occurs whenever I'm in IR vision mode and LRMs are flying. It doesn't matter whether I launched them or a teammate launches them.
  • What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring?
Launch LRMs or observe LRMs flying over while in IR vision mode.
  • Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps?
It doesn't re-occur all the time, but it seems to happen 33% of the time I play.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Everything is set to "High". Textures are set to "Very High" and Post AA is enabled.

Black screen in the middle of action with no forewarning and then I'm back in the MechLab with no error message, still grouped up.

Never had any significant crashes or freezing until the Feb. 5th patch. Seeing a lot of freezes now. The game itself would just lock up. I had to Ctrl-Alt-Del to launch Task Manager and quit the game.
