So I just read the blurb about this "Equestria girls" crud.......

ALL OF MY NO. Assuming this isn't a complete load, or just something the Hasbro exec's are kicking around.

There are a couple of things that keep Me watching this goofy, girly cartoon.

One of those things are how out there it is. It's a sorcery/fantasy story in a completely different world with completely different rules, played out by talking horses, with their own terminology, customs, etc. It's twenty two minutes of "Okay, what the hell am I in for today".
It was funny, weird, just a bit serious, weird (I said that one, right?), and was very creative.

Every freaking cartoon out there is already about a bunch of "Special" kids with super powers, or some sort of gimmick that sets them apart from the rest, as they try to fit in in school, learn important lessons, bla bla blablabla..... In MLP, the lead cast were, as far as I can tell, young adults, with jobs, hobbies, freedom, and were completely normal within their surroundings. I liked this. The lead characters, as strange as they were, actually fit in with their peers. Their problems weren't the usual crap about their parents not understanding them, or not fitting in with the cool kids at school, or cramming for the math test (Well except Twilight....), or how their super power/personal gimmick made them feel different, all the rest of that juvenile crap.

If this is true, you all know how it's going to play out:
A bunch of super powered little girls in high school out to defeat some evil baddie all the while maintaining their grades, and learning how to fit in. I mean, it'll sell well to it's primary demographic, little girls, but it's been done the death. There will be absolutely nothing to set it apart from everything else out there. I also don't see Myself watching it. It sounds to much like all that weeaboo crap out there like sailor moon or lucky star.

Now, if you'll excuse Me, I just realized I typed an angry post about a children's cartoon on the internet. I need to go make sure I didn't just sprout a neckbeard, or subconsciously buy a crapton of Pokemon cards or something............

Don't think I really cared for the "weeaboo" remarks but I think you made a pretty good point with the other stuff Major.

I'll give the new show a chance, even though I don't like the art-style of the girls. Two thirds of the character for legs and one for the rest is just to unproportinal when combined with such wide skirts just looks... well, meh!

The out of proportion ponies looked cute. Even more so when they duplicated more human like gesture. The girls just look weird at the moment.

I'm willing to wait, how the stories work out and if they put the same amount of love for little details and quality of voice acting (that's where I have the least concerns if they keep the current ones) into it, before I make my final judgement.

Yep, we barely, just barely get to see Derpy. For like, half a second. Oh well, it's better then nothing, and at least she's alive and well in the comic series (Which I just got, and is very funny).
Also worth noting that DJ pon3 / Vinyl Scratch made a cameo as well, at about 2:25.
