A beautiful solution to the JJ - shake was posted:

An expanding reticule is the way to go to resolve this issue. Same result without the motion sickness.

as for those of you commenting about staring to hard at the screen or focusing on the retiucle, that is what any quality well trained FPS player will do, and there is no reason not to use an expanding reticule instead of the shaking one we have now. Same result, better gameplay experience.

Wow, this is such an elegant solution.

Remove the shake.

Expand the reticle so that convergence is decreased.

It will take extra skill to aim, especially at longer ranges and when zoomed-in, without affecting light play and without affecting people watching streams.

Interesting!

Mech Bay MC Cost Increase!!!!!

Are you saying that they will increase the Mech Bay costs soon?!
Can you please give a source for this statement as I am not able to find any official statement regarding Mech Bay costs.

Just interested, because I will surely stack up on Mech Bays now, if they increase the costs.

After last night, I would say any assault ppc boat! So Stalker, Stalker, Highlander or Awesome (if you want to be different)

I love "competitive" MWO smartasses.

All your suggestions are only to make sure you win easier by having better twitch skills. *slow clap*

Especially love how you seem to think you have more insight into how the game should be. No, all you have insight into is how you want the game to be to suit *your* playstyle, not what's actually better. Stop trying to make this a slowed down Q3A, it is not and never should be.

Oh btw even Q3A, the twitchiest of twitch skill games, had some weapons with spread.

But I was really really good-looking in Q3A....

Doesn't that count for something?

Issues for PGI to fix:

1. Seismic Sensor - get rid of it

This is a useless point. They won't get rid of something they've added, asking them to get rid of it is pointless. Accept that it's a part of the game now, and propose changes to fix it. (Shorter range, kthxbai. It IS really too much right now and by far the best module.)

Quote

2. PPC - increase heat by 2.5%, Make it 7 dmg center, 3 dmg splash

Why do people keep asking for weapons to have splash? You, being very experienced, should understand how splash damage is still bugged and impacts different mechs differently. This is why missiles have been such an unholy mess for so long. Why in the world would you want to add PPC's to that mess?

Quote

3. JJ - get rid of the shake - WTF!?!?!? JJ's need to accelerate faster.

The visual shake. Give weapons while jumping an expanding cone of fire, sure... nobody misses the Poptart Days. But the current visual shake is a mess and hard on the eyes.

Quote

4. SRM - increase damage

Yes please.

Quote

5. Get rid of any RNG factor

What RNG factors? Inaccuracy while jumping is the only one I can think of now, and quite frankly it's welcome.

Quote

6. Fix the netcode for low ping people

As a low ping player (never past 80ms)... what's wrong with it?

Quote

7. LRM spread

In what way? More? Less? They centerpunch large mechs quite quickly right now - this problem with LRM's having reduced splash radius. But with a larger splash radius the splash damage vs. different mech geometry leads to wildly inconsistent overall damage. Thus we have LRM's doing absurd damage vs. some mech types, or grossly nerfed LRM damage overall, as has been seen historically.

Quote

8. SRM2 has the worst spread variation ...

I can't see anyone using SRM2 with any spread or lack thereof.

Quote

9. Host state rewind -- screwing over low ping players who get hit 5 secs later...

You're not being screwed over, but it DOES suck to be hit after you move into cover. But the reality is, the player who shot you had a valid, well aimed shot. You weren't screwed, you just register the hit late.

Quote

10. terrain clipping - lights get stuck on the side of mountains, assaults trip on anything and everything!

Gah. I never really appreciated how much of a pain in the *** this was until I started tooling around in Stalkers. Good lord, they get hung up on every little bump, which was never a problem with my Heavies and Mediums. And of course, because you're in a huge lumbering monstrousity, even if you can manage to get free you're motionless for far, far too long

i also never understood why people want splash on ppcs, but i do feel there is something wrong for low ping players (i have usually 40ish ping) i often have to aim BEHIND lights to hit them

it does make it harder to react to something properly when it hits you 5 seconds after it hits you

and yeah terrain clipping is horrible in some mechs, just plain annoying

What bugs me is that you move into cover, get hit... and think there's someone who've got a line of fire on you, so you start frantically looking for the guy who just shot you, not realising that you're safe now. This can lead to continuing to move from cover into someone else's line of sight, which definitely sucks.

But I can't see a solution to that problem.

fixing it would probably consist of finding whats causing the awkwardly high amount of lag, no ones internet is that slow

It's useful opinion from someone knowledgeable about the game. No need to bash someone for adding some constructive opinions to the community.

5 seconds is an exaggeration. Keep in mind, this is going to be the sum of your ping and your opponents ping, plus a bit of processing time server side.

Say Auzzie Mike at 300ms fires at me, while I'm moving into cover - a shot that for him is a valid shot that would hit just before I reach cover. There's a 300ms delay, plus say 50ms while the server plays HSR to determine he hits, then another 80ms for it to tell my client I've been hit. That's a 430ms delay from the moment he fired, nearly a full half a second. It's a lot worse if I've got a higher ping too, of course.

With a half a second delay, I'd register that hit while I was well into cover.

Now, consider random network hiccups. Your internet may be blazing fast (note the difference between latency and bandwidth here) - which is just from you to your ISP. What's beyond that is the same for everyone and essentially random. So as your packets get routed about, what happens when some random hiccup somewhere delays your packets for an extra tiny fraction of a second? Momentary higher latency, which won't show on your average ping speed in game but can really mess with things. This is called "Jitter" and can be a real pain in the *** and hard to diagnose.

yeah i know all of this but it does still often seem like more then just the pings combined i have had it take as long as 4 seconds to register on me before

SDR-5K Is garbage????? HAHAHAHA~!! Brah like what is stated above its not about mech its about pilot skills. I can dance with Assaults, Heavies and Mediums all day in my little 4MG 1ERLL Spider and slaughter them.... Other lights can be a challenge at times.

That variant compared to any other light variant, yes. We aren't talking about player skill, we're talking about the variants.

If you aren't talking about player skill, this whole thread is therefor irrelevant and should be deleted or moved to a different forum other than newbie help.
