Optimize, heat is no excuse to ever stop firing.
SHD-2H
Guaranteed to satisfy.

(History: been running the above with a 200 std and 5 tons ammo on a HBK-4G last week, this build is almost entirely superior [faster, more ammo, no big hunch]. Loses about 40 degrees of lateral torso twist, but gains 5 degrees of vertical movement, so it helps to lessen the sting ;3)

SHD-2D2

strange sniper build with no armor on hands. The point would be to avoid being fired at completely with 97 kph(speed tweak), and deal ~ 30 damage on alpha.

That was a one sided match. Show me consistency and maybe I'll think otherwise. Anyone can do that much damage with a decent set up if they're allowed. Also: UAC5 for starters.

From the games I have seen so far the Shadowhawk definitly looks like a very strong mech. Its narrow silhouette and capable loadouts and combined with very high mobility make this quite btter than one would think from paper.

I bought the phonix package because of this one single, mech and I have not at all been disappointed so far. The Shadowhawk is a beast of a 55 tonner, with decent firepower capabilites and variable loadouts on it's chassis' as well. Extremely fun mech to pilot.

Just a suggestion, drop 2 of the JJ's and add a med laser to the right arm. Once you run out of ammo is you still have at least one weapon you can still fire, also move your ammo to the legs/head, harder to be destroyed that way. Artemist is also somewhat a waste using streaks, since they lock on anyway.

artemis decreases SSRM lockon time by 50%. so it p. much *is* a must. :)

Are you sure about the lock-on time decrease with Artemis for streaks? It doesn't change the tonnage or slot requirements of the streaks like it does with LRMs or SRMs so I figured that it had no effect on the weapon.

Edit:
http://mwo.gamepedia.com/Artemis

If the info on the wiki is correct Artemis has no effect on streaks. Oh well.

Artemis isn't SUPPOSED to affect streaks, but it does signficantly. It's a bug that's been around for well over a year. If you have streaks, load up artemis and reap the benefits without paying the tonnage and slots.

Well in that case it looks like I'm keeping artemis.

Check here: http://mwomercs.com/...0089-breakdown/

"ArtemisIV decreases weapon lock time by 50%"

like someone above said, it's a bug that's been around so long it's become a feature.

Just have to say: I loved how there were truck-load of people complaining about the Shadowhawk's high, yet "lean" profile(dimensions of it, before they even got their hands on it, from the images that No Guts No Galaxy showed). Yet on the field I'm having the harder time hitting on a Shadowhawk from afar with a Gauss than most other mediums. In my opinion it excels what its good at, and PGI nailed it:
- "The Ultimate scout mech", able to take on, if properly used, almost anything(thanks to its JJs).

But as almost with every Phoenix mech, I've been impressed, and I love what folks are doing with the Shadowhawk.

And everything else kills it, because of the XL, that it needs most of the time... I keep it "slow" with an 240 STD engine and play as a brawler and sniper, which works quite good... and lights that don't run, die pretty fast.

I would not try to make the Shadowhawk as fast as possible... a STD250 (with speedtweak) should be enought for most builds to be as fast as anything down to the Cicade. Maybe a STD275 if you can fit in all the weapons you want.
--> with such an engine you will be able to mount more (5t )weapons compared to a 50t mech and you won't be much slower than anyone except for 2 variants with XLs.

The triple AC2 build for example could be a really useful choice instead of a quad AC2 Jager, that takes up a heavy-slot of your team :)
If you want to use missiles on it, remember one fact: missile-tubes! (there are only 2 in the Head and nobody knows, how many will be max on the torso... so 3x Streaks seem to be a good choice )

I think I will try to make it work as a pinpoint-damage build:
ERPPC and an AC20 or 2x AC5 should be fun
On the other hand 3x Streaks with a medium sized ballistic weapon and a LL or LPL would be great to hunt lights and mediums.

Bah, the fast Streak Hawk is a mech to be feared by lights but all are vunerable.
