People are TKing anyone in 3rd person view in protest. That's pretty extreme but I can see why they would. They are chanting "death to the 3rd persons".

Then they won't mind when the people they are teamkilling report them, and they get banned as a result. I would encourage anyone teamkilled for such a stupid reason to do so.

Well apparently Paul Inouye is reading this. I'm wondering if we'll just get the usual "It's beautiful" statement.

I really wonder what they put in the maple syrup up there. They need to pass that around!

I'm pretty sure the threads in question will be cleansed. I suggest you keep track for posterity.

I'm actually curious about that.

Of course, that is PGI's normal response, but if a few people did actually complain to the Canadian AG and they start an investigation things may not be so straightforward. I would laugh my butt off if PGI got pulled into court and had to reproduce the stuff they've "reorganized".

3PV is game breaking and will completely change how MWO will be played.

Actually took the time to watch this video and it pretty much sums up what I liked about playing Mechwarrior. 1st person is more immersive and exciting. 3rd person takes away the risk of taking a look and the reward of I see him/them.

My constructive criticism is to allow 3rd person in Training Grounds and/or perhaps for something like the first 24 hours of gameplay for an account. If 3rd person is meant to be a "training tool" for those who need time to figure out how to pilot a mech then only allow it for beginners or in the training mode (Training Grounds).

On a side note I haven't even played yet since the patch and don't look forward to the new game mechanic. particularly ridge humping. Pretty sure I will see more of 2-4 mechs lined up behind cover and when they spot a target, move up, BLAM!.

I imagine my playtime for MWO is going to reduce significantly, rest assured I will find something else, until at least the 3PV situation changes.

.02 from a Founder who actually spent real money.

For a start, I'd prefer it if they stopped lying.

People invested $ based on PGI's plans and promises. Since those are broken, they should give us back our money because it's a "bait and switch" which is illegal under canadian law.

I don't get what the fuss is all about. I think it provides several negatives to using it. Arm lock forced? No mini-map, uav camera shouting "i'm here i'm here"...........i welcome fools using this mode.

I did like looking at my paintjob though.

The major fuss is that PGI lied and that they don't give a flying rats a$$ about the community at all. Russ has posted this on his personal twitter account.

I always laugh at those responses. It's like walking into a room and saying, "I don't know what you all are talking about and making so much noise, but you are wrong".

But why should they remove 3PV? According to this thread so has almost everyone against it already uninstalled the game and wont be back anyway.

just imagin their faces when they check the accounts and see how much money every one of these people put into the game, and got now a shiny new TECHsupport ticket with big fat "REFUND" on it ...

I am willing to live with the implementation of 3rd person view if the following happened: Since this is a Mech simulator, make these 3rd person drones vulnerable to enemy fire, much like the UAV drone is. If your drone is destroyed in combat, then you can't go 3rd person anymore. Make sure the tooltips and tips shown on the loading screens reflect this, and new players won't get confused by it.

3pv should have been incorporated into some form of info warfare.... make the drone a target-able cool down with mc improved versions. if PGI did this one thing it could have saved you a big issue just before launch but turning a hot button issue into an valued feature .

A hidden danger with 3pv is that with out a tutorial new players dont know about alt f4 and think this is the only view of the game, but with a tutorial the need for 3pv deminishes. catch 22.. no one wins.

also its way to close to altf5 for my comfort.

OK, so I re-read B. Ekman's post. And I note the following:

Scientific method is being employed not just random development choices to rage the player base. Note that the current choice to not seperate the ques is the result of an evaluation of the design, development and testing. New information caused a change in direction. Is this not a driving principle in our very society? Yet we fault for applying standard scientific methodology.

The ques are postponed. That could be indefinately, but at least not off the table.

Based on their new information they want to rethink the solution for a way that prevents the segregation of the player base, which constantly comes up as a concern on the forums. So hey, this is a good thing right, trying to not segregate the player base with implemention of this feature.

They want a solution that also addresses other community wish list items. A wholistic approach. Again, a good thing right? It is an approach often called for in weapon balance.

So, I really think folks need to feed the good fire here instead of the flame war.

You must be new here.

There is no scientific method employed by PGI. This is another outright lie from them for the fifteenth time in the last six months. They've repeatedly lied about what they are doing to their community, made totally false promises that were never lived up to, and constantly made the game worse in almost every way.

At this point, it's not even the Titanic. The Titanic sank slowly and had survivors. This is Hindenburg: Online.

Cant we all play the same game? I think many core gamers agree that First Person Shooters and 3rd person shooters are different games. Furthermore, the kind of people that funded this closed beta wanted a sim like MechWarrior not a middle school friendly World of Mechs. The way I see it PGI must be planning on porting the game to console so 3rd person makes MWO console friendly.

I have to say no (for now) as there has yet to be an apology and removal of 3pv.

I've been with this thread since it first kicked off and am not surprised in the least to the reactions.

I wonder how that meeting went where they decided to skip the 1pv only queues.
I bet that discussion went well over Tim Hortons coffee and donuts.
Just imagine the look on the poor interns face when they gave him flame proof underwear and told him to post the announcements from the devs. Then finally told him to try to find a ray of sunshine in the firestorm to follow.
