Blood Asp is one of the best, and its ECM variants (BAS-A & BAS-B available for CBills, and not a hero mech!
These two variants are so good that I wish there's a BAS-A(S) & BAS-B(S) for the +30% CBills bonus!
(I am willing to pay for this feature!!)
(I have both BAS-Rancor hero mech & BAS-Prime(S), but would much prefer BAS-A & BAS-B for its ECM).

Also, the new BAS-E available in Jan'2022 would also add very high shoulder mounted lasers to the mix as well!
You can stand behind many mechs and shoot over them at the enemy!

And I'm personally looking forward to the likely quirk pass for Blood Asp on/about Jan 18th 2022 as well!

I am afraid that the majority of PUGs will keep firing through the friendly 'Mechs standing in front of them, as they usually do. Posted Image

Did just that to my Team mate ystd... terrible convergence of the arm weapons on the Night Gyr Posted Image

I personally think that most friendly fire hit-from-behind thingy is from accidental hitting someone with your arm weapons; very few players would purposely aim at the back of your CT ! Posted Image

You have to watch your reticule.

Normal reticule:

Reticule when your air strike damages enemy 'Mechs:

Do not worry, this was not tested on animals. It was tested on human players. Posted Image

And the players are able to have one of two types of crosshairs. To change their crosshairs to show more lines when a target is hit/damage instead of the default flashing red circle, go into settings and check mark Color Blind Friendly Reticule. For me that flashing red circle temporarily makes it difficult to see things next to the target.

And the players can make one change to their crosshairs.

I do not understand why PGI has never implemented HUD colour change. I think that many players would love such optional feature.

I did purchase a 'B' Variant but mixed in some different omnipods :) .. yes quite the capable mech (even with a soso pilot like me :) )

But please tell me what a PUG is .. I have come across that expression ... but I have no clue what it means .. sigh

Pug:

1. The pug is a breed of dog originally from China, with physically distinctive features of a wrinkly, short-muzzled face and curled tail. The breed has a fine, glossy coat that comes in a variety of colors, most often light brown (fawn) or black, and a compact, square body with well-developed muscles.

2. In the world of online gaming, PUG can be broken down like this: PU is for public or pick-up, and G is for gamer, game or group.

In MechWarrior Online, the typical PUG looks like this:

It was part of the 2021 Tournament Supporter Pack. I believe you can’t buy it any longer.

Why do you think that things should reset? No such thing will happen.

No, no such reset has been announced and none have occurred since the game switched from closed to open beta years ago. What gave you the idea?

So I bought the founder level on the kickstarter for MWO. I barely played in the beta test. Now I am thinking about playing since I am getting back into the lore and it has that effect.

Any general advice for a newbie? If you were starting fresh what would you focus on?

(I will appreciate recommendations on the current best video guides.)

Hey, a warm back to MWO Posted Image

1. What class of mech do you prefer to play? This greatly affects the choice of advice for you... Assault? Light? Heavy? And try not to start with a Medium mech...
And all Founder mechs are still usable, with +30% CBills bonus!

If you don't have a preference, strongly advise to start with a Heavy mech, and explore from there!

2. For videos, I would suggest these circa 2018 and onwards (after Skill Tree revamp):

2a. Baradul Youtube videos from 2018 to 2020 (Baradul used much more cookie cutter Skill Trees in 2021 and onwards, so for you it's much less helpful).

2b . TTB Youtube videos circa 2018 and onwards.

2c. [Disclaimer: I'm just a fellow avid MWO player; not related to Baradul or TTB in any way!]

3. I'm in the same boat as you, a fellow Founder barely played beta... just came back to MWO summer'2020!
Having a great time!

What exactly do you need to know?

What 'Mechs do you own?

I got the legendary pack of all four founder mechs. 20,000 mc to spend but have not bought anything yet. 2160 hours of banked premium time. I guess I should wait to use premium until I know what I'm doing.

in world of tanks I ended up playing for years in the tank they gave new players (tetarch) because I found it funny when people assumed I was a newb while I was playing a skilled up tank. I may do something like that with one of the founder mechs. It all depends on if they are special in any way or if power creep has made them all pointless.

Good idea.

They provide C-Bills bonus, so in this way they are special.

And now, if you want a honest answer: Due to the power creep in MWO they are nothing special, but they are still quite usable, if you know what you are doing. The good news is that in the lower Tiers - such as your Tier 5 - are almost all 'Mechs still viable, including your Founder's 'Mechs. So for the time being, use them.

If you have some spare C-Bills, switch to Double Heats Sinks, Endo-Steel skeleton and boost armor protection.
