Not really a new player question, but a short one: Has anything been said recently in the town halls about PVE? Dates, scope, anything at all?

They are working on AI to allow PVE, from what Russ said in the last town hall sounds like they think PVE should be in game mid to late 2016.

I would expect PvE to take a long time. Programming an AI for this game can't be a simple task with so many moving parts. Plus, I sure hope they aren't turret-laser accurate with every shot.

Could the Gauss have been fired from past max range?

Not remotely. It was close enough for my LPLs to apply scratch damage. Probably some kind of lag/hitreg issue, though I wasn't lagging and I don't think he was either.

Check standing/hanging/whateverthe3rdoptionis

There are 3 types of items and you have to click on each tab to see those.

I've managed to pile up 21,000 GXP.
What are the generally accepted "best" pilot modules to go for first?

While all can be good depending on the situation the generally accepted best are Radar Deprivation which makes you immediately disappear from sensors as soon as the enemy loose line of sight unless the enemy has advanced target decay and Seismic Sensor (both levels) which shows enemy movement on your radar within I think about 200m providing you are standing still.

What will be most useful for you depends on what your role is, you could well be better off with weapon modules or different Mech modules

It's very common, They have missed but on your screen you've walked into it. So where to you it seems like it hit, the the enemy who fired missed and due to the shots being client side, it did not damage you. Take it as a warning that if you remain where you are your probably going to receive one that does damage.

It's the same sketch where if someone on your team fires lasers past you, you walk into them but they are able to pull away and put the rest of their burn in another direction but on your screen it feels like you walked into it. Lots of crispy laser burning sound but 0 or very minimal damage.

These days, strategy is mostly brawling and short range trades. Usually do a bit of distance pops with AC until the line closes and we're engaged. Then it's bounding up and down the line wherever I can tangle and get stuck in but I do make good use of cover where possible setting up my next pounce. Might be a bit abnormal for an assault strategy, but it nets me consistent dam in the 250 - 500 range, a kill, several assists, and often survive to the end (albeit missing lots of parts ;) ) each match so can't be all bad.

So given that... maybe the Radar Dep to break lock when I duck back into cover? How about 360 target? Does that help with fending off little buggers trying to jump me? Just don't want to blow hard earned GXP on a module that really is "meh". (I can break this off into an actual thread if there's an broader Module topic to be had...)

360 target retention allows you to maintain target lock (not missile lock) on a Mech which is behind you, it does not allow you to lock targets which are behind you, it would allow you to keep a light Mech locked if it runs behind you, I use it on fast Mechs to allow me to keep a lock while moving at high speed and performing random turns ect to make me hard to hit, while maintaining target info.

I would think as a brawlers radar Deprivation and weapon modules for your preferred guns would be your best bet unless you use a lot of consumables, the upgraded consumables are functional identical to the MC consumables

Easy question - at what point does a "new player" become a nuisance in this particular forum area? Said differently, when are we "graduated" from new player and should take our day-to-day questions to other parts of the forum... or is it generally okay for folks to post here as desired? I have been grateful for all the help and support in here, and by no means consider myself anything more than a rookie still, but I don't want to wear out my welcome with too many questions! :)

Simple answer: They never do.

You will eventually find yourself being the one answering most of the questions though.

I agree with SethAbercromby
Provided you ask questions politely and do not start insulting people we will never view you as a nuisance

Despite the name, this forum is the place for anyone to ask questions mainly about game mechanics. It's also the least toxic area. For more in depth discussions with any kind of perspective, the general forum is your place.

I've seen veterans of the game post here. There is no such thing as being a nuisance, unless you're picking fights left, right, and center.

Hi it is me again asking questions :) :

I see a summary which weapons hit me, and what caused the death (like CT gone), but is there a way to get a more detailed information what was the deciding hit?
Like: medium laser thru rear center torso

Hey PGI, ever thought of a kill cam? That could be a gain for atmosphere and maybe for me to learn sth...

the last hit listed is what killed you, unfortunately at current there is no way to get a more detailed overview.

it has been about 6 months since I last saw a post from PGI in new player help so I do not think feature suggestions are likely to be noticed here,
if you are after suggesting something the feature suggestions forum would be a better place to do so.
