There was a guy poptarting last night in a PUG match... he jumped once and missed a shot... then a second time and hit somebody... and on the third, everyone shot him at the same time and cored him mid-air.

As fun as that anecdote was, when there are 3-6 'tarts, it doesn't work that way. You need a coordinated push, and be willing to "take casualties from your own artillery" so to speak.

Exactly, this is just like saying that Jagermech need to be nerfed because majority of mechs out there have their arms lowly mounted and because of this, alot of users favor jagermech, and just because the stats show that many players favor this mech, it deserves a nerf?

it really isn't much different to the topic now:

" The high elo's game consist of purely 12 mans poptart now , the JJs provide significant advantage that other mechs don't get it....."

See a pattern there?

Oh I see the pattern. I've mentioned it before. Someone gets owned by a weapon, much, tactic, etc. and then jumps on here to talk about how "unfair" it was and it needs to be removed

This instead of finding a way to beat it with the equipment at hand. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome. served me well since before I got into MW:O.

No, it's just that it's the universes rule of thumb. Only around 5 Pilots in the universe have fired weapons while Jumping. Why? Cause it is the physics of the universe we are playing in. So unless you are one of the top 10 players in the game, Pop Tarting should not be available to us! Its that simple. We are sitting in a Comfy chair, not experiencing the G-forces of trowing a multi ton robot into the air then going to Zero Gee in a free fall. Sure its a breeze firing in a comfy chair, but change that o actually trying to perform it strapped to Death Drop carnival ride. Then tell me its easy.

See my previous post about the fiction not dictating the rules or mechanics. The reason that only those 5 pilots were mentioned as being able to jump-snipe in fiction is because they were the only ones the authors wrote about.

I found a new game.

On topic - you can do that with a premade. in a pug your running with a bunch of people who basically dont care and want lots of pew pew action. hence they charge, stand in the open and trade damage. your just FUBAR

Dont label all pugs like that. I have had some awesome pug matches where everyone was plugged in. Super rare but it does happen and when it does it makes my pug day. Feels like everyone was sharing the same instincitve inputs.

Hint for you,... those were "evil premades" on your side... :)

I poptart in my mediums because I don't need to aim with my LBX. If I have to deal with unrealistic shakey cam, you get to deal with unrealistic shakey cockpit when I spray your face.

And? Seriously, its a simple thing for the DEVs to say, " The G forces created during Jump is to much for a Pilot to overcome, No pop tarts for you!"

You see this all the time with the competitive 12 man company's running around. One lance of lights, lance of HGN-733C's, lance of CTF-3D's. There is almost no use for medium mechs in 12 mans right now due to the unlimited tonnage. Makes the game horribly repetitive in 12 man's.

Some non-abusive poptarting.

But honestly in the video where the example is provided by the original poster, it was used as a method by a mech out in the open, to take care of a someone hiding behind a wall and corner shooting. Thus it was used as a method to remove a pest from cover, from out in the open. I'd hardly consider that a poptart. With forward motion, the act of poptarting really doesn't apply much. But if that forward motion was a bit stronger, it wouldn't exist in that sense at all.

About 8 weeks ago the pop tart meta was at its height. Back then it really was a case of pop tarting or being at a disadvantage.

I see far fewer pop tarts now than there were back then. Far fewer. With the JJ shake as it is, a pilot who'se sufficiently skillful to land a hit on a moving target taking in to account the relative movement of the two mechs, the shake etc. deserves the hit. The JJ shake has removed probably 75% of pop tarts from the game which is a very good thing because it really was getting out of hand.

I'm simply not seeing the pop tart meta taking place at that level any more.

As a general comment, movement and cover all serve to complicate the enemy firing solution...

The peak of the pop tart meta was more than 8 weeks ago.

I don't understand why pop tarting is allowed in this game, its as stupid as bunny hopping in other shooters.

If you want to fire while in the air don't pilot a "WALKING" robot, get to the chappa.

Honestly just make it so you can not shoot while in the air, problem solved.

No, because that has negative ramifications beyond those you call "pop-tarts".

Firstly, XL jagers are ********. Fix plx. Secondly, if you want to beat poptarts, learn how to ridgepop in a stalker (properly). If they hit you anywhere except the arms chances are youve made a mistake.

Or, you could just take faster brawlers, and flank them while they're engaged poking at the rest of your team. Then as you're engaging them, the remainder of your team runs in and crushes them.

Sorry, talking about pugs i.e. self reliant. Can't rely on pugs to even build mechs decently how can you expect them to shoot straight, push at the right time and stop themselves from being ct cored.

You do realize that "pugs" are just players who happen to be dropping solo, at that moment, right? Joseph solo's a lot, I solo a lot, lots of good folks solo a bunch.
