The good news is that the tube count seems to be 10 on all relevant hardpoints.

Looks like the Golden Boy will have company as the least used hero mech in the game.

After playing several matches, this is the go to build for the Oxide http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b5004fc752860cf and its a light killer.

Drop to a xl295 and get some shoulder armor out of your way to cram another ton of ammo in, it's worth it.

I think that's knee jerk. This thing is great regardless. 4 Streaks was one of the very best light hunter configs and having that ON a light is insane.

Yeeeeep.

I don't know how anyone could look at the Oxide and not go "4 Streaks to rule them all." It's really, really, really good.

It's pretty terrible, no jumpjets, no energy hardpoint for pinpoint (SSRM builds without something to pinpoint with to finish off stripped armor are flat out bad, you rack up higher damage numbers but can't reliably kill anything other than other lights), and the COM-2D exists which does the job of a SSRM focused light way better and also has ECM, and also has a smaller profile (with its own problems concerning losing your 16 armor arms all of the time, but it's still a harder target than a Jenner).

The only 'unique' build you can do with it is maybe SRM20, but even then you're going to have less damage output than both the JR7-D and JR7-F running standard builds.

That pretty much sums up my own state of mind on this one. Think I need to go meet a few.

Just guessing here.....

The more 'experienced' players are seeing this as a DOA platform that's basically going to be carrying Short Range Missiles of one flavor or another.

I'm betting that the 'new players' *cough*noobs*cough* will see it as yet another opportunity to turn something into an ineffective LRM boat. Now, THAT will be worth seeing. No AMS, no ECM, very little armor...and it's just standing there, tossing LRMs into the sky.

Tried it at first for a few games, did minimum 250 damage, best few hitting 400 with x4 lrm 5s just for giggles.
Then refitted with x2 srm4s and x2 ssrms+bap. Had insane fun every game. Had one game at around 140, averaged around 350-450.
Its also still effective vs other lights, had a few tonight where the srms did their work and streaks finished the job nicely.
DOA I think not, in a pug at least. It does however print C-bills.

Hands down, my favourite hero mech I have bought to date.

I'm thinking about trying this out: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...cd7a49c060af993

srm6 gives punch against heavies, while the 3 ssrm preserves the light hunter role. Does this seem like an improvement or step back from the ssrm2 x4 for this mech?

Personally, I think that is a sensible compromise. I run x2 srm4s and x2 ssrms on mine and do just fine. Streaks are ok, but there are times when you need that lock to happen faster than it is and those are the times you'll be thankful for the regular srms onboard.
Provided you can lead well, even the srms are brutal vs lights.

I cracked. 3 games, 450 damage average... This thing is fun. Best mech ever? Dunno. But fun. And that makes 12 changes of heart in one day. :/

This mech, like the locusts, really does need a diversified pack to run with. You really can't be the only light and expect to be effective in this thing.

I haven't tried this mech yet. However, I am sort of confused at all the initial hate this mech got. There was a topic here that had suggested putting an LRM 5 in a Jenner so that you would have something to do while capping in Conquest. THIS mech comes stock with 2 LRM5s and 2 SRM4s, so why not just stick to Conquest and being a capping fool.

Actually I might just buy this to see what I can do with it. I managed to do pretty good with a stock Jenner K and most people have deemed that the worst Jenner. And yes, for the sake of honestly, I DO die a lot in my K, but I have pulled off a couple of surprises in it, too.

EDIT: added second paragraph.

I'm running this with 4x SRM4s and 4 tonnes of ammo. It's dangerous. Would be lethal with jump jets. Delivers a punch on target but you have to be a good shot and nimble. Have an XL295 so pretty quick. Have to add that it eats ammo at quite the pace...

I will stick to my JR7-F 6xML Boat, but the OXIDE - Running Shotgun seems to be fun. Get the back of a Heavy or go for the most damaged enemys... you will have to be very careful without any JJs, but it should be a valid mech for good players. (I can't stop thinking of it as anything but a Shotgun with legs^^)

4 Streaks are nice for sure, but I'm Playing a 4x Streak 2x LRM15 Catapult, so why should I go for a second mech like that without any range weapons...

Maybe I would buy it on sale someday, but right now it does not seem to be needed on the battlefield...

xl280, 4x ssrm, BAP, 5t ammo.
Averaging 400-500 even got 1080 in one match.
This is one fun mech and dangerous to other lights.
