Like several people here I have been in awe of the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe for about 20+ years and still love it.
Firstly concerning the future of PGI/IGP and the MWO franchise. Do any of you work for PGI/IGP? Do any of you sit at any of their meetings where they decide what's going on for the next year/2years/5years? Do any of you work for a company that has developed and run a F2P game that is still going after its' first year? If the answer to the above questions is no then I suggest you stop trying to tell everyone what they are up to as, as customers, WE have no idea beyond what we are told in posts here on the forums. The developers are doing something that only a very few have done in the past, they have made a game that we all come back to week after week because we enjoy it. We come back to fight the new opponents and see what new developments are on the battlefield. We come back because we are Mechwarriors in our living room! I personally LOVE that feeling!
I also was a little shocked at the 'Khan' package price, however I was one of those that did a quick calculation and thought 'no, not YET'. Christmas is just around the corner and our car needs repairs. That is priority one. Next year however I will look at saving some cash and probably buying the top package of Clan Mechs first, then I'll start dreaming of buying the Khan package and having a game where it is 12 Khans vs the Universe! That is one Youtube vid I would like to see!
Yes like many people I am eagerly awaiting CW, UI 2.0 etc. but having played a few MMO's now I'm seeing a pattern where on release not everything is ready to go right out of the box. Some developments are buggy/not working and in one instance they have taken 3 months to NOT fix something that is breaking the game for me and not making a part of it playable for me. The MWO development team is still working on a few things and the patches come, and they fix the things that are broken! This from a company that doesn't have a few billion to throw around and a team that isn't in their hundreds. IMO they are doing just fine! Take a look at other MMO's out there and you'll notice the big ones are the ones that have been around for longer and now have more than 1 team working on everything. Thing is though, these to started small and now they are world leaders. MWO is competing with them! Think about that!
Back to the original question and my thoughts on the 'Clan Package'.
I like the fact that the Clan Mechs are coming! I'm looking forward to having that moral dilemma of staying as an Inner Sphere Merc or going full Clan. Personally, I think that what they should have considered doing was having 2 parts to each account, 1 Clan and 1 IS. Each with their own pilot skills and mech bays. I would like my pilot to be a character that if he/she doesn't make it to the end of the battle, has injuries etc that need time out to heal. I would like to have several pilots on my roster that I have the option of taking out on the field. This way I could configure each pilot as much as I configure my mechs. Clan pilots would of course take less time to heal
