Thanks for the update. Will this be a dialogue thread between you and us?

I think only Karl is the one who sees the issues PGI is having with talking to us and will remain the one to keep talking to us,

As the numbers indicated in the previous post showed, group launches, no matter what size, were always going to be a smaller subset of the overall game population.

Well no $hit Sherlock, when you dont give us an option to actually make a group of any size to play with our friends WTF did you think the numbers were going to show?

How is it, we are 10 years later on our next MW game and we have actually taken the game backwards. Does PGI not realize its the competitive crowd that is going to keep this game afloat, not the random soloing n00bs?

I'm willing to bet I can show Paul a dozen or so page thread with no duplicates that says the exact same thing and that's just from one guy quoting a few players from various threads with no resources and no easy way to just pull that data in unlike PGI.

Paul has seen one thread.
*insert pic*
He's seen them all.

It's a great meme. ;)

A minor issue, like so many others, but how hard can it be? Flaming entails the risk of continuous, close-range exposure. It can be further balanced by weight/fuel/recharge time/number limit, etc. If they're destined to be useless, then fine, but not in the stupidest way possible by making them overheat the player using them!
I don't know about your assumption of the risk, keep in mind the 'boat-ability' of Flamers. They weigh only one ton, and take only one critical slot, so there's plenty of light 'mechs that can boat a significant number.

Considering the inability of larger 'mechs to even turn around fast enough, and bend low enough to target these nimble hemorrhoids, and the fact that currently they can just smash into your leg without nearly zero damage, all the while spamming flamers on you, it sets up yet another VERY exploitable disproportionate advantage for small, nimble energy boats in this game.

Just remember the hazards of MG boats before the last MG damage reduction...

when you have tons of players... who state the exact opposite and stand in direct contradiction of devs saying this like what Paul stated.

Yeah, from what I see constantly on the forums, players want a SOLO ONLY (no groups) queue and a GROUPS (2-12) + SOLO queue.

Not quite sure what the problem is, when the players are practically building huge burning S.O.S signs on the beach of this Island. ;)

Sure, the best games I can have when I'm solo is when both teams have two skilled premade 4-mans. I didn't expect this to be breaking news. And if I join a 11-man premade I'd probably ask for Teamspeak info and join them, and maybe make some new friends in the process...

Not according to Paul....

Considering there have been three Command Chair updates in the last four days, one on a weekend, and both of the other two from Paul, that might be a misjudgment.

And sigh...the only thing worse than Deathlike digging through the forums to find and like EVERY PGI-critical post in existence, is Roadbeer joining him in the OCD-hood. ;)

The problem is PGI is seemingly oblivious to this. They refuse to accept that their customers might actually be grown-ups that are perfectly capable of making an educated decision to click a checkbox for entering a group queue. I was hopeful until I actually read Paul's post. Now it's painful obvious that never did, do not, and will not have any intentions of giving anything to those who wanted 5-11mans. At least it reaffirmed my decision not to spend any more money on them or this game. I MIGHT buy just a couple of hundred MC this weekend for a bay and the misery when it goes on sale but that's just to spend out the rest of my founder's MC.

I think he was referring to the interaction. There's a huge difference in updating some information in a CC post (while much apprecaited usually) and Karl holding an open dialogue with players

So, is UI 2.0 gonna get less clicky or more UI 1.5-like anytime soon or even get that complete smurfy UI build interface that everyone has asked for soon™?

Those UI 2.0 threads don't spawn out of "love" for the UI.

I'm fine thanks. I bet CW will make an "appearance" someday in 2014, but it will be woefully incomplete and probably just phase 1. Heck, I've set my expectations so far back that realistically the entire thing will be "complete" by 2015-2016. "Complete" is "just enough to call it CW" and not much more.

I agree that CW will be flawed but they are going for a release then fix method. That is why they asked the community what we wanted in regards to how they would release it.

Fixed. You really should read it deeper, the whole thing is an excuse for not making a group queue... period.

Umm... the whole thing *is* a group queue. They made the 2-10 group queue, exactly as everyone was asking for. 2-10 man sized teams. You can probably try to make an argument about that 11 man team demographic and how they are being left out in the cold I guess...

But you wanted a group queue; you're getting a group queue. Enjoy!

Yeah I'm still in disbelief they released UI 2.0 without a mechlab that was actually usable. Its not like building your mech has anything to do with the difference of winning or losing a match or anything. ;)

how about when you sign up as a solo player in the group queue, you pick 1 mech of your own from every weight class and put them on your 'dropship', and then you get dropped in a group game as a solo player you are put in a mech of the right weight class to balance out the game

Solo Queue - Solo Drops.

Group Queue - 2-10 or just make it fully unrestricted. No tonnage matching, no ELO matching, just straight up carnage.

Done.

Easy.

A little late here, but so much this

they did?
we got it?

ok show me where it is
show me the roadmap for it
show me the release date
show me the estimated release date
show me where Paul said anywhere in his post that they're going to do that as opposed to we MIGHT look into doing it like this IF we decide to do it some time further down the road. No, we did NOT get what we wanted. We got NOTHING except "maybe in the future, we might look into it" period

But I'm not getting a solo-only queue. ;)

They should just do the logical thing and make a SOLO ONLY and GROUPS (2-12) + SOLO queues.

I understand their concern that goes along the lines of, "But solo players won;t want to drop in the group queue."

Simple. Give them a "Hazard Pay" bonus for dropping in a more dangerous environment...just like many other games that offer risk/reward incentives.

Really, show me where he says we're getting it? All I see is, we're not saying no, but we're telling you why we're saying no.

When? Paul did not even hint a release date it is something they are going to "look" into, not even a promise to do it, no date no time-frame no nothing. Hell not even a trademarked soon on this one. With thier track record that could be 6 month or 2 years before we see it.

I don't know if you got the same information from Paul's post as I did, but what he said was:

Quote

Now that you see what is planned and the edge cases surrounding implementation of a group only queue, we’re still deciding when this important feature would fit into our development schedule.

They haven't made anything. We aren't getting anything (yet). And for the most part, it looks like they are busy enough doing the other things we want that it isn't even yet scheduled for development.
