The image meme responses are the real gold in this thread. I and my popcorn are enjoying them immensely. ;)

I don't remember the exact numbers, but I think that somebody actually did a calculation that a BT Tabletop miniature made from REAL gold would cost less than one of these Khan mechs.

Given the actually volume of an ouch of gold and the fact that gold is currently selling for US$1,300 per ounce... I seriously doubt you could make a miniature out of the stuff for cheaper. That said, it would still be a better deal because you sell the damn mini.

It's legs look like they are a better fit now, than in the original Timber Wolf pics at least!

The blocky ones we originally saw were probably the C-Bill purchasable variants. These look like the Prime variants of the Clan Collection, minus the orange/black/green skin, of course.

Probably depends on the Karat of the gold and whether or not you wanted the miniature to be solid. 1 ounce of 14 Karat gold would run about 600 bucks right now and might be enough to make a hollow light mech.

The fact that the two things are comparable is shocking enough.

My memory is hazy...I think the comparison might have been made using gold paint rather than actual gold itself. That would explain things.

The pricing is still pretty hilarious in the end either way.

MechWarrior has been one of my four favorite games since 1998, and I've played a lot of games.
I bought a Gold Khan Mech (Summoner) simply because I want to assist PGI by providing some more funding for them to work with in improving MWO.
I listen to the podcasts, I view the YouTube interviews with the Devs, and I read quite a bit in these forums and though there are a million complaints and the game isn't perfect, I'm patient.

I had some extra money saved up and all my bills were paid so though I know it's extremely overpriced I decided to get one.
Again, this is because I love the MechWarrior games.

I always have. I always will.

Just curious, what are your other 3 favourite games?

Limited quantity on a digital product that is being charged for an extortionate price? Nope!

When PGI goes under for lack of funding they may regret putting a 'limit' on the digital product. Or the extreme pricing..... ><

Hell I almost shelld out on the clan package this week - but seeing this marketing insanity made me realize why I don't want to hand over that amount of money to a mickey mouse outfit.

DEVS, I think it's odd that on the Clan package page... no where does it mention that these are limited to a certain number of orders before being unavailable to the rest of the community... it does state that they are "rare" and "limited edition" but not "while supplies last" type of deal. I know the gold Mech thing is new and "special" but why limit your profit margin? Maybe it should be stated, and regularly updated as to how many "Gold Mechs" are still remaining... you know... incentive for the Community to buy ;)

The others are Quake (1996), Deus Ex (2000), and Fallout (the whole series really but Fallout (1997) and Fallout 3 (2008) are my personal favorites) ;)

Oh on a side not I've started rereading the Battletech novels that I bought about 15 or so years ago.
I've got 48! Currently reading Mercenary's Star which is about the merc company known as the Grey Death Legion.

Wait... you bought these novels "15 or so years ago" and never read them once?!?!?! That's a big FAIL (and blasphemous) on your part buddy LOL! I still have my 70ish novels from BT on a shelf... all were read within a week at most of purchasing them.

soooooo we're revealing numbers here but not on the clan page to assert the ergency cause all you need is $xxxx from 50 gold packs to reach the target goal.

well played.... just need a game worth that amount and people will buy.

And I love Jeep as a car manufacturer. Even if I was a millionaire im not going to buy a gold plated jeep under the guise of "supporting the company for more great products"

Do you know why? They probably get enough revenue off standard puchases and other bundles. Reason #2 is: its ******* stupid.
Its your money and you have every right to spend it how you wish, doesnt change the fact its extremely questionable.

Oh..

Looks like a used teeth filling if you ask me.
If I would have paid 500$ for this, I would be disappointed.

Please note I'm a Legendary Founder and I stopped playing this since around UI 2.0. Check my stats, I have played zero games since they reset the stats, ZERO. I check back periodically to see if the game is still around and to see what Mechwarrior Online is up to. This whole gold mech thing really left a bad taste in my mouth. No more Mech packages for this guy. Welp, back to WoT.
