Ok, why are people saying they will target a gold mech any more then any other mech on the floor? Because someone else choose to donate 500.00 to your hobby? Do you not like your hobby? There are people that make good money in this world. Personally, I wouldn't buy the mechs in gold because I dislike the look of every single Omni mech. But, that is because overall I don't like the look of those class of clan mechs.

Now, a mech like the Kodiak I may spend extra on.

Yes, the pricing on them is kind of high. This goes with the supply and demand theory. They also created an exclusive item by simply pricing it high. You don't need that item, you can purchase it or not purchase it if you want.

LOL! That is precious. No game yet but they are doing better... omg. PGI made a game, it is totally playable, and all they get is reamed for everything they ADD... Unbelievable really.

Gamers, the new breed indeed. :P

The hate machine here is nauseating so I dont post much anymore.. pearls before swine. I miss the days of closed beta when the posts were 95% supportive and patient with or at least civil. I'm hoping that someday when an official chat lobby is added (maybe this year since its the Year of the Community) that all the haters will go rant there rather than pollute every thread with their posts.

I just think that people are being all bark, trying to start flame wars in the threads. A few may end up actually pulling through with targeting Gold mechs on either team.

I might just MIGHT pay 50 bucks for being allowed to have a CUSTOM PAINTED MECH. Sorta like bomber nose art.

But gold mechs? Not my cup of tea. If however it is yours then please enjoy. I will still blow holes in your shiny mech if you are on the other side :P

People are still going on in this? Wow...... any who.....

So, people have been wanting to know what certain items do, such are the Targeting Computer, and the War Horn. WHile honestly I have no clue, you ready for it, I have a theory/idea.

Targeting Computer:

This I see them working one of two ways. First, they use it like an auto-aim system, which would anger more people than anything, but could help new players. Second, they work it so that it locks energy weapons onto targets, much like LRMs SSRM. Now, run with me for a moment here, energy weapons are direct fire, and would require the arms to move (if the weapons are mounted there, as they would be in the picture of the Golden Targets they are showing), since missiles can change direction in flight. Now, if you are still with me, good. So, back on the arm moving thing. Since energy weapons are direct fire, this would help if you wanted to track two targets. So while you turned to look at one target, the arms (if that's what the targeting computers use) could follow another target, of course for a set time. I suspect it would lose a lock after you lose sight, much like a LRM or SSRM.

Just to keep on topic in the thread, that could explain why the Timber Wolf's arms are pointing in two directions.
....
....

Either you have a very wild imagination or you are smoking some serious stuff.

That arm misalignment could be the result of a special pose (solely for this pic) or even an extremely wide FOV. (most probably the latter).

btw... if i remember correctly, targeting computer allows you to do two things. One, is to provide a lead indicator for moving targets for PPCs and ACs/Gauss depending on each weapon's travel time and target speed (you still have to aim yourself)... and two, it allows you to target specific body parts on the target.
Also, it weight and space requirements goes higher depending on the amount of those specific weapons being equipped.

Hell I'd buy one as I'm a big fan of the packages. But I'm not dropping anymore $ till I get a more definitive answer to the status and release of community warfare. Whos to say that after I buy it they decide to say screw it and we players have what we have...enjoy *does look sweet though*

What did you expect from a mech called "MadCat"?

But it is not called the Mad Cat, it is the Timberwolf...

Not sure if you're serious or not, but the names are interchangeable.

Madcat is the Inner Sphere names for it (PGI uses the IS names on the ala carte menu).

Timberwolf is the clan moniker.

Wait...they're telling us that they actually sold some??? Who, in their right mind, would spend $500 on that???

Shoot, I could buy a small pick-up truck to run around the farm with for that amount...or a good rifle, or a john boat, or a whooooole lotta groceries!

Seriously, if people want to waste their money on those, then they are welcome to do so - they can subsidize my *mostly* F2P style for this game.

I just find it astonishing that there are people who will do that...

Neg, the Timberwolf is the name of the 'Mech, Mad Cat is the incorrect designation applied by the ignorant.

One and the Same. IS targeting computers got all confuzzled when it first saw it. Ears and cockpit of the Catapult but Arms of the Marauder, got it all in a tizzy bouncing between the two. So Pilots just took the first part of both names and called it the Mad Cat. Just like how Kurita called the Dire Wolf the Daishi, which means Death, and its rightly named too.

You missed it dude. 101011 was speaking like a Clanner, i.e. - "Neg." That's Clanner talk.

He's role-playing. :P

They are the same? Timberwolf sounds like Mad Cat now, quineg? (To any that may be confused, I am aware how the IS named our 'Mechs, I am simply stating that it is not 'correct' to call them that)
