That would be pretty cool and add a little fun to the competition. What do you guys think?
Heck if we turned it into a cool little tournament thing I'd be willing to break out photoshop and do some custom unit and/or player signature banners as "prizes" I'd say a free mech or something but that's not possible.
Could even do weight brackets. 4v4 in each weight class or 3v3 I guess but 4v4 just sounds more fun

One design per player rule... meh =/
Are you for real on the armor values here? Am I missing something or did you mess up the CT armor?

Whoops, linked the wrong one. I was making two variants of it in separate tabs and got the wrong one. The JJs were also in the wrong spot.
Here's the correct version.

I just want to keep the "that mech isn't "viable" type arguments

Even if they aren't intentionally "throwing" the match there is a good chance there will at least be some sand bagging going on.
What makes you think the person running the clan mech will indeed play their hardest?

by posting the builds in public like this it's easy to see if someone is "tanking" a build. We don't even know fi anyone will play out the matches and builds for sure. Remember, this is more for fun than anything else but it's a chance to see some "real" comparisons between the mechs and such and get some ideas on where exactly clans are "op" or IS mechs are "up"
This isn't definitive by any means but it could be fun and we might actually discover a few things that could help us give some ideas and suggestions to balance the game better overall
Even if you buy into clans being op, that doesn't really prove or solve anything. It just means they're op in an individual's opinion. If there's something that pops up as op constantly in the build comparisons then we can at least narrow it down a bit and maybe come up with some constructive ideas.

Stop with the it ain't fair stuff. It's not like this is an official tourney or anything. Some of you need to remember it's a game. It's for entertainment. I think some of the results will surprise a few on both sides though.
Take it for what it is. A community challenge for some fun and quasi research. Yeesh guys

I'm going to post 2 mechs in rebuttal. I'm going to post a "general" mech build that I think would flow well for most players and possibly into the "meta" but I'm also going to post a "personal" build as well that I know, either through actual play or because of overall experience and in my truly honest opinion, would hold its own against the clan mechs. That sound good? I'm still trying ot figure out how to get the best builds all the way around from everyone who wants to participate.

2 - I thought the point of this was it is "1v1" as it is basically a build off to see if you can build a suitable IS counter to another players clan build, or have I missed something?

yes and no, that's the problem I'm having really. It's a team based game so I don't care how uber you think your build is, if you run off on your own rambo style, you're going to die
quickly
but we can't test the team dynamic very well because there are so many factors involved. I'm just trying to come up with ways to show IS comparisons that are going to do just as well in a real match as anything teh clans can field. I'd be really interested in seeing light and medium designs because I personally believe this is where the clans will come up short against IS counterparts. The assaults and heavies are more of a mixed bag and I think they are evenly matched. That's why I'm open to ideas on how to limit the number of builds while at the same time giving a good variety of builds.

I would go for either
a. "This should eat that for breakfast"
and /or
b. "The same player should do even better in THIS"
Or whatever you want to do, it`s your thread

(this would be more of a "general" build to me)
personally I'd go with something along the lines of...
ON1-M
oh here's the first counter-build I've had time to post. I promise I'll get to them all but feel free to chime in MWO community!

not really, I just want to get some builds out there and have everyone chime in. That's the whole point really. Just get some builds out there while it helps me think outside the box with new builds as well I'ts not purely altruistic lol

I think either one of these is a good counter. They'd get chewed up if any of your teammates flanked or a good squirrel got in their faces but they've got more armor, are just as effective with heat, and combine pinpoint with dps at range.

TBR-C
6 ERML
1 ERPPC
2 SRM6
22 HS
2 JJ
1 TCMK1
Max Armor
Not a meta mech, but useful as a solo player when you never know what your teammates bring. Can snipe, can brawl, is never the best in it, but is never totally useless. Very cool running, when you stop using the ERPPC and still outdamaging most IS mechs.
