make airstrikes/Artillerie a autorefil mod that refils every 1 minute and is only raining down something like 10 missiles in a closer area dealing 1 dmg per missile/bullet.

So make the King of Battle a shot gun?

TL;DR: Nerf arty and air strikes to 15-20 damage per shot and significantly increase cost per module. these are designed to soften up targets, not kill them.

so. arty and air strikes are obviously quite overpowered. they can kill a fully armored mech, and, when your team drops 2 consecutively, can kill your whole team. this consumable shouldnt have that kind of power. i was in a match where there was 11 of us left and 3 enemies left. they dropped 3 artys consecutively while we were grouped up and killed all 11 of us. these consumables need to be nerfed to either 15 points, 20 MAX per round and tripled in price. people shouldnt have the ability to kill a whole team with 3 of these modules nor should they need to rely on them to win. its a support item. its supposed to soften up mechs, not kill them. now i can understand if a mech is stripped of armor and gets destroyed by one, but when im in a fully armored atlas and get hit in the head by 2 of the shots and i get killed, that is unnacceptable.

Theyve already been nerfed multiple times. Learn not to party in the fancy red disco smoke then whine about it on the forums.

Arty and air strike LRM should not be in the game. They should not exist. It is ridiculous that there is a 0 ton no Fire from cover with no drawback item that is so incredibly powerful. If you are in an IS assault average speed mech 95% of the time you cant get away from the arty LRM no matter what you do!

Aren't we forgetting here that not only is the use of Air Support a realistic and viable option, but also that said 'support' in real life actually would blast the cr*p out of a big metal robot? I mean, that's warfare. Also, 'they dropped 3 artys consecutively while we were grouped up and killed all 11 of us' - Erm.. you let them drop 3 Art strikes on you consecutively whilst being grouped up? I don't think Art strikes are the problem, no matter how much you or anyone else moans about them. (I don't actually mean to sound rude there but, it's just how it is..) In this case you've described, what you really needed was for you guys to be smarter, move, adapt etc. Too many idiots out there thinking there's only one way to win. If it were me you were playing against while you were all stuck together for 3 consecutive art strikes, I'd've got behind you and rained missiles on your heads and you'd be posting about that instead (many others have beaten you to it).

Look inward. What did your team do wrong? What did you do wrong?
Then you can get better and have more fun.

That said they still need to do less damage per shot, being able to destroy the cockpit in 1 2 shot on any mech is stupid as hell;

I don't really have any issues with the damage, I just think it is a lame mechanic.

It is less lame now, as they rarely headcap you compared to yesteryear, but still a boring mechanic.

Working as intended. Airstrikes and Arty are to to force static blobs to NOT be static blobs and they totally should kill you. I did not like them originally but now I have really come to enjoy the effect they have on match play and keeping the teams split up and mobile.

It makes holding a defensive position much more challenging.

My friend I feel your pain. It seems as though you just had a bad run. In my Fatlass and Dire Whale I have survived up to five air strikes before. In fact, I don't think I have ever been killed by an Arty. I'm sure positioning and movement had something to do with it. I hardly ever stand still. But then again, I don't play anything but skirmish for that very reason. It takes to long to Cap, and we are all just juicy targets waiting for the enemy team to put us in their cross hairs.

Sorry to hear of your defeat my friend.

As for the rest of you utilizing asinine comments to troll this player. Please try to be a little more compassionate with a persons frustration. I must admit, I did find a few of them hilarious, but some of you were down right nasty. Remember we all started somewhere.

Cheers!

While I do hate lrms, and I know they are objectively anti-fun, at least lrms don't trash your mech in 3 seconds!

Arty is just ridiculous lately, and the fact that it has no drawbacks and all positives, unlike every other piece of equipment in the game (even ecm weighs 1.5 tons) is not good game design.

Yes I agree PGI should get rid of Arties and Airstrikes and replace them with a mini nuke.We already have paper armored mechs that any twitch FPS crowd would love with 1 shot kills and instant gratification. Why not make MWO more Twitch friendly with mini nukes?

Yeah I'm not feeling that post either. It IS annoying but I've taken a helluva blast from them from full and ended up with armor damaged like legs are when you jump off a cliff in a light.

To prevent head shots from arty/air; if you see smoke start moving and stare at ground for 5 seconds.

You might want to know what you're talking about before commenting, 18 armor + 15 structure=33 total HP for the cockpit, and the cockpit has those values on every mech.

Artillery strike shells do 35 damage, so it has the potential to RNG instagib any mech in the game in 1 shot.

If that actually works that's interesting, shouldn't really need to do that to not get cockpit gibbed though, especially considering how counter-intuitive that is.

I'm talking about tiny 1 point clusters of damage sir. Arty is dangerous. It should be.

Also if I point it skyward it would in fact rain pellets from the sky. And would be about as effective as you want Arty to be. ;)

I think some of you have forgotten the FIRST lesson you learn when starting this game:

Lesson 1: Movement.

It is important to remember this simple rule in regards to moving your mech. Never stop moving. Never. Never stop. Don't stop. keep Moving. Just to ensure you get the importance of this: NEVER STOP MOVING.

This. My main issue with them is their ability to kill you in one hit by landing on your head. More shells with less damage should reduce the incidence of arty headshots.

Then they will not be feared. We had that and they were almost always ignored.

It is precisely the threat of being instantly killed -- like real artillery -- that causes people to greatly fear them -- like real artillery.

Heck, in MWO, that probability is small.

I think it's now time to again include this obligatory video:

Watch what happens 17 seconds in.
