I'm posting here a list of suggestions/predictions for the next packs. (this is already discussed in the Ultimate Mech Discussion Thread, but I think it deserves its own dedicated topic)

Complete analysis of variants and builds here: Tarogato's Mechs not yet in MWO [builds].

EDIT: It looks like PGI abandoned for a while the 4-pack model, adopting the standalone mech pack. Still, this list might help to understand the next choices.

Clan Wave IV (Timeline: 3052): [this poll might hint what comes next]

- Light: Fire Falcon, or a MASC-less Fire Moth
- Medium: Black Lanner
- Heavy: Lupus? (std. engine, but compensated with ECM and unique looks)
- Assault: Turkina, or Kingfisher

Project Phoenix II:

- Light: Wasp
- Medium: Raijin or Chameleon
- Heavy: Crusader
- Assault: Longbow (not considering the Marauder II because it doesn't add anything different from the 75 tons Marauder)
Reinforcement pack: Stinger and Valkyrie

Clan Second Line Legacy Pack (early Clan non-omni mechs - most need extra variants):

- Light: Piranha (or Horned Owl/Peregrin, or Incubus/Vixen)
- Medium: Conjurer/Hellhound* (or Vapor Eagle/Goshawk)
- Heavy: Black Python/Viper (or Glass Spider/Galahad, or Grizzly)
- Assault: Stone Rhino/Behemoth (or Bane/Kraken)

* The Conjurer should look somewhat similar to the MWO's Wolverine (it is in all but in name the Wolverine IIC - something MW4 ignored when they made a completely new design. Or MWO could pacify the issue by making a cross between the real Conjurer and the MW4's Hellhound).

Resistance Pack III: (those are my preference... unfortunately, I think the community pressure will be too great for the Flea and the Bushwacker; and for anything other than the Charger - actually a good chassis - as assault mech)

- Light: Javelin (or Mongoose, or Flea)
- Medium: Assassin (or Vulcan, or Sentinel, or Clint)
- Heavy: Excalibur (or Ostroc,or Lancelot)
- Assault: Charger (or Crockett, or Thug, or Hatamoto, or Devastator, or Annihilator, or Nightstar)

Origins IIC Package II:

- Light: UrbanMech IIC (or Locust IIC)
- Medium: Shadow Hawk IIC (or Griffin IIC)
- Heavy: Rifleman IIC
- Assault: Warhammer IIC
- Reinforcement/Reward/Standalone: Phoenix Hawk IIC

Melee Pack (only possible after adding melee weapons. Timeline: ~3060):

- Light: Scarabus (needs extra variants)
- Medium: Hatchetman
- Heavy: Axman
- Assault: Berserker
Reinforcement/Reward: No-Dachi.

Clan Wave V (later omnimechs. Timeline: 3060):

- Light: Hellion (or Cougar)
- Medium: Mongrel/Grendel (or Pouncer, or Coyotl)
- Heavy: Nova Cat
- Assault: Blood Asp (much better than the alternative, the Savage Coyote)
Reinforcement/Reward: [any listed medium omnimech not yet included]

Vengeance Revenge Pack (with IS mechs from the Mechwarrior 4 series. Timeline: ~3064):

- Light: Osiris
- Medium: Uziel
- Heavy: Argus (or Thanatos)
- Assault: Fafnir
Reinforcements/Reward: Hellspawn, Chimera

IS Omni Counter Strike Pack (Timeline: ~3064):

- Light: Owens (or Raptor, or Actic Fox) - Owens has Single Heat Sinks
- Medium: Strider (or Men-Shen) - Strider has Single Heat Sinks
- Heavy: Avatar
- Assault: Sunder
Reinforcements/Reward: Templar, Hauptmann

"Ultimate" Clan Battlemech Pack (Timeline: 3066+):

- Light: Solitaire
- Medium: Rabid Coyote
- Heavy: Bowman
- Assault: Mad Cat MK. II

Celestial Pack (Word of Blake Celestial series omnimechs. Timeline: 3069+):

- Light: Malak
- Medium: Preta
- Heavy: Grigori or Deva
- Assault: Serath or Archangel

Other possible packs: Lostech Pack (with very old or almost extinct designs, like the Hammerhands and the Mackie), Gladiator Pack (with Solaris mechs from the Technical Readout 3055 Upgrade, preferably after adding melee to the game), one last Clan omni Pack (with Crimson Langur and Tomahawk), and maybe even Faction-specific packs, like the proposed "Sword and Sunburst" Pack...

What do you think?

PS: these are the many possible packs/mechs that will be in MWO. My realistic predictions are those.

definitely the raptor and men-shen

- Light: Owens <<< single heatsinks?
- Medium: Strider <<< single heatsinks?

Interesting... you are right, if IS omnis can't have the HS upgraded, those with SHS are really bad...

Russ said they will stick with the mech pack release system, so I'm post here a list of suggestions/predictions for the next packs.

...

Clan Refits (least exciting pack, and would need extra new variants):
- Light: Commando IIC
- Medium: Hunchback IIC
- Heavy: Orion IIC
- Assault: Highlander IIC

No need for extra variants, just have the Commando IIC count as a Comando as far as skills are concerned, the Hunch IIC as a Hunchback and so on.

ETA:
I would actually rather see a "IIC" pack more than most of the others.

WTB Clan Garrison thing, because Supernova, Kodiak, Stone Rhino? Do want.

WTB Fafnir/Kraken/Behemoth/Annihilator pack, because 100ton ballistic boats. If you buy all four, and have the King Crab, you automatically get a free Omega.

It is unlikely PGI will pick Clan Mechs that don't fulfill the tonnage gaps that exist.

There's still room for a 20 tonner (Light, probably Firemoth), 40 tonner (Medium, I'm sure someone can figure something out there), 90 or 95 tonner (Assault, probably Supernova).

Once those tonnage fillers are completed, then you'll probably have more of the popular ones in their respective weight classes.

I got about 1 more Clan pack left in me but they are going to have to be really good Clan mechs to get me to drop another $120.

Light - Arctic Cheetah
Medium - Shadow Cat or maybe Viper
Heavy - Caludron Born or Night Gyr
Assault -Executioner, Turkina or maybe Kingfisher.

Those and only those. Try to toss in a Firemoth in place of the Arctic Cheetah and I probably won't buy for example because I want to be sure all 4 mechs I buy are something good that I will play often.

Honestly what I would like to see is them release 8 more Clan mechs then let us create our own packs i.e chose our own mechs for each tier. Basically pick any one for $30, pick 2 for $60 so on and so forth then maybe see discounts on the 5th through 8th mech something like Mech 5 and 6 cost $25 each and mechs 7 and 8 cost $20 each.

Wonder if ppl are getting mech pack exhaust. It would be ridiculous to think the same people willing to spend 100s of dollars on a mech pack will do so continuously with these now 5 packs and continue to buy packs 6 or 7. The pool of people willing to spend money on packs will inevitably go down. Its nonsustainable.

As for the question of whether there will be or how frequently there will be packs.
Depends on how well the current ones go.. I dont think it went as well as founders/Clanwave I but.. if they are going to be making these mechs anyways might as well make more cash with packs right?

Question is if they wil make money more with back to back packs, or will they make more by spacing these packs out.

You have the Firefly listed twice Odanan. The first time erroneously. The IS name for the Viper is Dragonfly.

Fire Moth: the game engine might not be able to deal with a mech that runs at 216 km/h (without sped tweak)
40 tonner: that's easy, the Viper/Dragonfly - next Clan pack
90 tonner: Kingfisher - next Clan pack

Supernova is not omni: it will probably get into a pack of only no-omnimechs.

Both the FS9-O Firestarter and BJ2-O Blackjack are mediums and boast DHS. You do not have to wait for the Men Shen to be available for an IS Omnmech pack. Some might be leery of the FS9-O because of its two extra fixed double heat sinks (on of which is inexplicably mounted outside the 270 XL) and two fixed flamers (but hey ECM variant ftw right?). The BJ2-O is slow as it keeps pace with stock Catapults, but it boasts some serious hitting power for its weight.

Add the reject and the Blackhawk Ku to the reinforcement and pack makes it in time for Operations: Birddog/Bulldog/Serpent.
