- Release the IS omnimechs, preferably in a pack (Raptor, Men-Shen, Avatar, Templar) - that's the easiest bet, and Russ already suggested the IS omnis would be announced in 2018.
- Release melee battlemechs, preferably in a pack (Scarabus, Hatchetman, Axman, Beserker) - in a way of promoting or "funding" the Solaris mode.

PGI would have to actually make melee mechanics work in this game though, otherwise those mechs are kinda pointless.

Light mechs, well we got plenty to choose here for I
Wasp, Valkyrie, stinger
Mongoose to have another 25tonner
Owens to go back to MW4 nostalgia
Or the Spector, since we now have stealth armor

1- Wasp
2- Raptor
3- Flea
4- Solitaire
5- Jackrabbit/Nexus
Solaitaire is Clan
Wasp is caught up in the current lawsuit so a non starter until at least that is settled (or I would be pushing for the Stinger which is cooler than the wasp

Raptor is an IS Omni.. which they still seem leery to touch, but I wouldn't be against.
Flea I only wan't with original style art, not that homage to MW4 Alex has done. To be blunt I freaking hate that design.
Jackrabbit/Nexus is so bloody obscure that while I wouldn't be against it, I don't see it being much of a seller.
Razorback, Anubis and Stiletto all fall into the current TRO 3067 stuff they seem to be hitting, with the Anubis and Razorback also getting some MC2 recognition. Stiletto would be funny to see introduced before the Clans got the Fire Falcon.

All the Lights from TRO 3060 are pretty derpy and unmemorable. Most of the Lights in TRO 3058 basically can be built already with the Firestarter or Wolfhound... boring laservomit boats for the most part.. and we don't have Null Sig, or CLPS.
Now pull out TRO 3055, and we get some fun options... Fireball, Venom, Jackal, Hollander, Hitman. TRO 2750 gives us the Mongoose and the Hussar.

Lights
Brigand (Pirate mech and it'd be pretty good in game plus JJ 25t
Nexus I like it's looks and it also offers a JJ/ecm 25t
Raptor, best light omni and generally solid plus looks like an ATST
Mongoose, it's fun to say, looks cool and different along with being a good 25 tonner
Assaults
Fafnir, killing it in polls and would be quite good in game, I could see them saving it for later if needed
Sunder, quality IS omni, maybe a touch fragile but it has plenty of speed and firepower
Templar, if not the Sunder then this would be the IS omni assault to add
Longbow, it actually has a ballistic boat variant that sports ecm plus more energy focused variants as well as JJ variants

I'm expecting plenty of filler mechs until mid to late 2018, until we start to see the IS Omni's make it to MW:O. PGI should be extra careful on how to implement them properly to the game so that they aren't absolute garbage.

The only crippling thing for MWO melee is animations- most FPS with melee attacks simply treat them as very-short-range guns. As nothing in MWO is designed to actually have those melee animations, it makes it very, very difficult to implement unless they kludge some kind of melee SFX or possibly crib it from Harebrained's work.

First, the Fire Falcon:

25 tons omnimech (like the Mist Lynx)
129.6 km/h (same as the Arctic Cheetah)
FF and ES
No jumpjets
~9.5 free tons
Omnipods:
Is it viable? Well, it has a decent speed and free tonnage for weapons (1.5 more than the heavier Arctic Cheetah), but no jumpjets or ECM. It can have at least 10 energy hardpoints (1 in the head, 2 in CT, 3 in one arm and 4 in the other), plus 2 missiles in one torso, which is quite good. The hitboxes would be fine, taking the Locust as reference.
I think we've found the next Clan light.
Other candidates:
- Solitaire (25 tons battlemech - is in MW:LL but has few variants and there is already a monster energy boat in the Piranha)
- Hellion (30 tons omnimech - has MASC and jumpjets but is generally inferior to the excellent Arctic Cheetah)
- UrbanMech IIC (30 tons battlemech - just 1 variant. Too much like the IS counterpart to be interesting)
- Locust IIC (25 tons battlemech - another mech that suffers when compared with the Piranha)
- Fire Moth (20 tons omnimech - essential Clan mech, but left out of the game so far because of the speed problem)

The E, B, and A can be safely skipped because of their crappiness. Especially the E, dear god...
