Uhm... no it really doesn't look like a Stinger, sorry to disappoint. It looks largely made up, though it does have elements that resemble this guy

Let's not have a repeat of the Crusader conspiracy (or the mkII one...*sigh*) plz?

Wow, it really looks like the Sentry!

No, Alex is not a concept artist. I'm saying that piece was done by a concept artist (and I was right Posted Image http://ddkart.blogspot.sk/).

One could leave comments on the pic there and ask...

a bit, one could also make some arguments for the Wyvern, or a few other things (though it's missing the steam stack on the back for the wyvern)... it appears to be firing a projectile from the right arm though, which would rule out (stock versions of either) but the loadout, head, etc, none of that remotely looks liek any form of the Stinger I have seen. And I'm one of the bigger Stinger Fangirlz on these forums.....

Honestly it could be a dozen things.. or just some random robot made up for the painting. It could also be some heavily modified and covered in custom Geometry, that we'd never guess. My point being mainly that aside from almost certainly not being a Stinger? (Or a Quad, Chickenwalker, etc) it's really impossible to say what it might be...if anything canon.

I'd be hugely shocked if it were a Sentry... but in a good way for being such an off the wall choice.

With Solaris coming I was thinking about how it'd be fitting for a Solaris mech to get added. They often have weapons or equipment not in game though.

There are few weapons and equipment I want to be added in the game:
  • Specialized Armor (reflexive, reactive...)
  • Plasma Cannons
  • Rifles (good ballistic options between Heavy Machineguns and AC/2s)
and last, but not least, those that would be perfect for Solaris:
  • Melee Weapons - either locked in the proper mechs or with a "Melee Hardpoint" (this way you can replace a slower-swing Hatchet for a faster-swing Sword).

Some of that is still a bit off in timeline.

Rifles so much yes though.
You could happily get away with just introducing them without the low damage to armour too.

And melee yes:
I mean, I'd like to see every mech with a Fist get a Melee attack option.

Baby steps, buddy. First we get the mechs with hatchets.
I suppose it would be a huge amount of work to add melee attack (punch) to every (IS) mech with hand actuator.

What timeline?

Why are people still talking like there is one?

The one thing that actually uses the timeline a little bit is (CW aka FP), and is finally considered dead and waste of development.

Yes, there is a timeline, which is relevant to what gets released.

If the technology or base variant of a mech does not exist in or before 3067 it is not an 'option'.
So long as a mechs later variants meet the tech rule, it may also be included.

Well the point is more about things that aren't even in game. We'd all love more options but more weapons and equipment create balance issues as also the work to implement them.

You can say there's no timeline when that just isn't true. Yeah it's more of an excuse not to add new stuff but it's still as Ovion said. Even though there are in timeline weapons and equipment that's not in game.

The Solaris mechs I'd like to see are the Onslaught, 75t with plentiful hardpoints including 7 ballistic and also JJ and a 375xl stock.

Onslaught hmm?

I will also see the the Werewolf.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Werewolf

But I doubt we will see it unless another tech jump. It got null signature and magshots.

But I love the looks!!

You know that arrow pointing you which way to go?

It's also a perfect kick pointer. And every robot here has legs, right?

As for rifles, yes yes yes for the IS. Halve the damage penalty vs armor because we double it in MWO and even light rifles have a potential role, with heavy rifles resembling an AC/5 with fewer shots/ton but heftier structure damage.

For kicks, as was said, baby steps. xD
It would be a HUGE task to animate them all though.

As for rifles - with the double armour, I think don't have ANY Armour reduction, and have a slight increase to crit chance. (easier to code, more in line with existing weapons)

Solaris 'mechs? Other than the Onslaught?

Porcupine - 20 tonner with 4E, MASC - needs Supercharger
Koto - 25 tonner with 4E - needs X-Pulse lasers
Silver Fox - 35 tonner with 5B, 3E - needs Magshots, XXL engine
Bombard - 50 tonner with 2M, 2E - needs Thunderbolt missiles
Juggernaut - 90 tonner with 12B, 6E - needs increase weapon cap, X-Pulse lasers, Coolant Pods

Also needs armor spikes, it's entire shtick is ramming people with the spikes dealing extra damage.

The old version actually jives with MWO, being an LPL/MG/SL build as a "super-Locust".

One week for the Sun Spider release.
I wasn't interested in this mech (purist as I am), but I'm very curious of how the 3d model will look in game. Heck, it might actually grow on me.

To be honest, I wasn't a fan of the idea of PGI originals in the first place.

The idea of the Roughneck and how it actually fits into the game made me rethink about that. Meanwhile it grew even more on me and it became on my favourite IS heavies.

The Sun Spider might actually be the same thing. High mounted hardpoints, decent mobility... for once I'm pretty excited about this.
