So that's hit and run out of the window for an entire weight class, or should your Preferred Playing Style Overlordship be extended to all drop-weights not going into a straight line fight? And is flanking allowed, or is that too much like mucking around for your liking?

Don't do this unless you are the one being betrayed. Especially when on the opposition team.

Its not always true!
It can be a tactic to decieve the enemy into dropping their guard and splitting up to race to some far corner while that last standing teammate takes out the stragglers from behind or to bring the fight to the defenders turf. If you don't know the full story of what is playing out then don't get involved and flood PGIs month long support queue with nonsense dobbing.

Last time this happened to me, I was still able to destroy 3 enemy mechs with my Gray Death before the timer runs out, too bad the game was 11-5 before these kills.

Under this assumption I must suggest the science career, because sitting there playing games won't solve any of the world's problems.

Ok at least here you got no Likes for this answer... and I can't believe I have to tell you that you're not forced to stay/spectate until the match end, just leave and do whatever you like.

If someone is ratting out the last person on your team, feel free to report them. Sometimes the person being ratted on cannot spare the time to screenshot or even realizes it till it's too late because their chat's off or something else. Who knows.

Do not suffer traitors to go unreported.

Hard to kill mechs are....well...hard to kill.

NO GUTS GLORY.... Make every kill, push, recon, and reticle lock and load count.

PS. Screw over heating, or it will screw you from running like the noon you be.

being alive yes, but its against the rules running and trying to survive without having any further intention to win. Which means in skirmish running for your k/d is basically partially violating the rules. Especially when this is hide and seek for the rest of 5 minutes.

In the other two modes there is still the primary objective to complete the mission.

there are still the other players on the other side that try to end the skirmish match versus a 150kph light with ecm running and hiding.

You find it. I want to see it in an official writing, and what dev/mod/PGI official said that. Otherwise I cry utter foul on that claim.

Running and trying to survive and run out the clock is against the rules? I'm not allowed to use such language in my unit for what I think of that statement.

I guess the most amicable and mature solution is to pressure PGI to create a non-penalizing 'surrender' function for Skirmish instead of trying to shove everyone's face in the mud and really hurt them when it's a hopeless cause like a schoolyard bully who's too fat to run after small kids and then really tears into them when they manage to corner them.

OK. lets go through your list there point by point in respect to the accusations from the OP and some others about the last player not going to suicide if against a full team. I am going in the assumption that this player had participated at some point during the match and just ran awaya after the tables had turned and he was the last one alive;
  • Wilfully or repeatedly destroying Teammate or Lancemate 'Mechs. - Does not have anything to do with this thread
  • Wilfully or repeatedly self-destructing one's 'Mech by Overheating or going Out-of-Bounds - The player in questions is actually actively NOT doing this.
  • Wilfully or repeatedly disconnecting during a match.- The player in questions is actually actively NOT doing this.
  • Wilfully or repeatedly spamming in-game chat.- Does not have anything to do with this thread
  • Persistent non-participation in core game mechanics. - If the player fought during the match, dealt damage to the opposing team and ran away AFTER the fight had already been lost, then this is a non-issue.
  • Wilfully or repeatedly taking advantage of an issue for personal gain.- Does not have anything to do with this thread

I don't care, and neither does PGI, if a player shot 1 single MG bullet and did damage during the match. If he ran off and hid once the match went south for his team, he is no longer participating in core game mechanics. Persistently doing it match after match and PGI is going to bust your ass and I am going to report you for it. So will others.

You can play Rules Lawyer all you want, if you break the rules you agree to, you get reported for it. Keep doing it and PGI will deal with you. PGI has final say on the matter, not you nor I.

Of course all of this could easily be settled by turning off "ALL CHAT" for dead players till the match ends.

While I would agree with you on that to some degree, you'd throw away the entire basket for a few spoiled eggs.

Though what you can do as a dead player to counter the issue is to feed the enemy misinformation. In one match, one of our guys decided to call out the last player's location (while he was moving even) and me and about 4 other people started spamming completely wrong locations, effectively forcing them to ignore what we wrote as there was no way to tell who was not lying.

Of course there is nothing wrong with calling someone who has disconnected imo, because they are not capable of contributing anything to the match.

I suggested a fix to this issue in the form of a simple waypoint that causes the last man standing to show up on the map/HUD as if they were being spotted by someone. But, of course... all the light pilots started crying and shot the idea down.

You can't be serious?

You want to ban players for active participation?

Stupid idea.

you only run for the clock if you would have a chance to win by time. like in a 10 vs 8. when you 2 are nearly dead. Otherwise why would you surrender? because of a single death on your death counter? would need a big ego doing this for that, otherwise you could still get a kill trying to kill someone.

a penalise free "surrender" is a bad idea, becaue loads of running lights would just run off and surrender for their epeen stroking k/d.

Extended CoD:

"Persistent non-participation in core game mechanics."

skirmish, aka the battle is core part of the skirmish mechanics, running the last 7 minutes for your life is NOT. Sure you can discuss if it is counting as "non-participation" if you participated at the beginning but in the ed you spend like 33% or more in not participating without the will to go for the mechanics goal.

A surrender option would be ok. You could choose to eject but all your xp, C-Bills, Kills and Assists would be forfeit. In return you get no death in your k/d.

So if I play and battle for 10 minutes and try to just survive for 5, I have not Participated in teh Game's Mechanics???

So you're opinion is superior to PGI's stand on their Code of Conduct.

Yeah...... that's not gonna work out for you so well. I'd suggest playing a game you developed instead.
