And that's simply sacrificing speed with a smaller engine.
It's less heat efficient and 20kph slower, which just isn't a good thing imo.
Speed is life after all.
Obviously the pb is an outlier, and 4mpl is a hell of a kick, and end of the day, so long as it works for you.

Not saying it is the best but it was more to show you could get 8 tons.

The Arrow hero in addition to LPL and MG quirks, has been given increased side torso hitpoints. I almost guarantee they will do the same with all other Blackjacks. This is very much welcome because it will make it much more XL friendly.
They are only doing stock buffs now it seems, so expect the BJ-1 to get AC2 quirks, while the BJ-3 continue to get horribad PPC quirks.
Why would anyone run the BJ-3 when it runs to terribly? The BJ-1X outclasses it in EVERYTHING but PPC velocity.
One if it gets similar quirks to what the VND-1R got, those PPCs become rather good. And with their high mounts and JJs, the BJ-· now becomes the defacto poptart.

Actually you can get 8 tons, I do it on my pirates bane.
DHS, Endo, Ferro, 170XL, 4MPL, 4DHS, 1 head and 6 on the arms, 16/4 ST, 20/3 CT, 16 legs

While I'm sure you can do work with it and I know you said you weren't claiming it to be best, I think there is no point at all in running a Locust that goes slower than 160, since most Lights can't hit 160.
Therefore, I actually run this. It is awesome.

At first glance it would seem that way. I loved 2 LPL. But have you tried 2 LL, 2 ML? It's better.
2LL 2ML is better, but 2LPL was never the optimal loadout. The RVN-2X is best with 1LPL + 3ML, which has better DPS, better heat efficiency, better burn time, and only marginally worse range. However, the LPL +3ML setup has all three weapons in the same range bracket which is ideal, unlike 2LL + 2ML. The new setup is a strict downgrade to the 2X, which was actually decent for the first time in a long time before.
I guess I appreciate the doubled leg structure quirks, but I'd honestly prefer that they fix the leg hitboxes that they intentionally broke back in OB rather than just quirking it more.

Arrow got LPL/MG quirks which is my current build, so yay for that.
Orion-V went from AC5 quirks to AC10 quirks... Waste of a ballistic hardpoint now, dual AC5's in that thing was awesome!
Also I like how they quirked the phract-Ilya to AC5's, trying to make people run something other than the triple UAC5's eh? haha

The arrow is one of those ones I sort of want, due to being a mini Jager, but then... I could just use my Jager, and I wouldn't be piloting a blackjack...

If the AC/5 cooldowns were higher I'd consider running something like a 3 AC/5 3 Med pulse Ilya instead of the 3 UAC/5 3 Med laser one just to see how it worked out for me. As it is my gut tells me I'd get more potential damage when needed out of the UACs even with jams. Still might give it a go just to see.

I like most ballistics in the Ilya really, triple UAC5/AC5/LB10X/AC10 or any combination of those.
Maybe I can squeeze on 3 AC5's with two LL? Seems like a lot of weapons but maybe I can make it work somehow.

At least you can do this now: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...207486898fbf554
Which isn't great but at the same time isn't too bad. You just have to be careful with your shot placement and not waste ammo by spamming. I think the Jager just killed the Ilya though. Being able to more safely mount an XL and having those high weapons just makes it so much more effective.

Should be easy with an XL.

The AC20 quirks sucked anyway, compared to what YLW and the HBK-4G got. It's better to just send the Arrow in a completely different direction.

This is going to be my first time playing where the nerf bat has made its rounds. Do all of these quirk changes affect purchased and future mechs after the update on 2/17 or does it also affect past models that have been bought?
So, is it better to buy one quickly to get the old quirks OR it doesn't matter since all variants of that mech will be changed, past, present and future?

all are changed sadly, no mech since the dawn of time will be able to escape this...
