You can put an xl engine in this because it has extra slots through quirks enough for 4 lpl one in center and two in one torso and one in the other. It probably could hold another lpl but I didn't test that on smurfy.

You CAN put and xl in - and when you do you lose all your crit targets that save your engine and weapons.

And the higher torso locations are alright, even with wubs and their shorter duration, you have one option and that's to straight on face your opponent to take your shots because everything is hard locked to the torsos. That means the method to dealing with these mechs is vastly easier since they only have one option for attacking, and that is giving itself up to being face loaded.

If you're going to whine about a new "P2W" (by which I of course mean 'temporarily cash-only'), at least pick a mech that completely obsoletes a hero mech instead - Look at the ENF-4P. AC20 in the right arm, four energy hardpoints in the left torso and left arm... Where's your mechanical deity now, YLW?

Sure it doesn't have the ridiculous torso twist rate, but you can do some pretty crazy builds. Like a large pulse laser in the left torso. Let's see the YLW run four medium pulse lasers or two larges.

The Grasshopper is a ridiculously tall, unquirked HBK-4P that can run pulse lasers instead of regular ones with a bit more armor for its weight. That's it. I've played a few matches in it, and it's ridiculously hot, probably the worst grasshopper by far in that respect. Can it survive better? I guess, I managed to zombie down to my CT large pulse laser and head medium pulse laser in my first match, next to zero actual armor anywhere and still managed to score a kill (and survive the round). Here's the punchline: I still managed to overheat it in zombie mode, with a whole two lasers and 11DHS.

do you somehow have special mechs that shoot weapons out of the sides or something? never seen a mech shoot me that wasnt facing me at the time...

(yes, there are edge cases where the torso traverse is at its max and you have lower arm actuators, so can shoot to slightly off center, but those are edge cases and you never aim for them, since a slight miscalculation means that you cant track your weapon to the enemy, and it doesnt give any kind of advantage since its only slightly off center and they can still hit all 3 torsi)

Enforcer Weapon quirks:
BALLISTIC VELOCITY: 10.00 %
BALLISTIC RANGE: 10.00 %
BALLISTIC COOLDOWN: 5.00 %
ENERGY RANGE: 10.00 %

Wang Weapon quirks

AC/20 RANGE: 10.00 %
BALLISTIC RANGE: 10.00 %
AC/20 COOLDOWN: 10.00 %
BALLISTIC COOLDOWN: 10.00 %
AC/20 VELOCITY: 10.00 %
BALLISTIC VELOCITY: 10.00 %
ENERGY COOLDOWN: 12.50 %

Soo.. the wang is more agile and has a way better AC20, the Enforcer has better armour quirks and more lasers. Seems balanced to me...

I can't belive what stupid sheep you all are if you all happy your getting screwed. Ignorance is bliss. Continue to follow the lemmings off the cliff.
Clearly people are not going to continue to pay 120 plus for digital robots pack. Nor does it make sense to pay 25$ FOR ONE mech when you can get a used game for that price. The funding for this game will dry up soon as they run off all the reasonable people. I can't think of any mechs worth those prices that we don't already have unless they continue to nerf our current mechs and release unbalanced ones. It's bad to screw your customers for greed. Mc donalds and coke stocks are beginning to fall now as people awake to see they have been sold junk for the last several years. I doubt most you fat nerd jocks that continue to eat that junk would understand my point or pay attention to stocks and companies. Nor would you understand political movements that try to enlighten people to the corrupt corporate greed.

Anti-capitalism blathering...

The hypocrisy of your ranting is you are this upset over a piece of entertainment.

We're not talking life saving medicine... we're not talking care for the aging or disabled... We're talking premium digital bits that are offered as part of a free-to-play piece of entertainment software...

I love you 99%'ers.. ^_^

...And yet, people purchased $500 Golden Mechs.

Your point with this rabid, foaming in the mouth rant of yours? -_-

I get the sense that you would like all this to be free or dirt-cheap. You do realize that the game is free to play? No one's making you spend money on these packs. It's optional. As such, what do you care about the costs? <_<

It's not greed, it's business. Free to play games normally have more expensive wares because they do not charge you for the game subscription. It's all a balance. ^_^

Now, go back to school and take an economics class or two or three... ;)

Pgi continues to screw even paying customers. This newest grasshopper is 10 times better than the rest. It's the only one with complete extra armor on all parts and also has the best laser quirks with 10 percent less laser duration. PGI continues to sell players mech packs while holding the best version back to make players pay even more after they buy a package. Several other examples are the timberwolf with high laser mounts, energy dire wolf with jumpjets, or ecm cataphract. I would think most players with a brain are getting tired of this business practice. I'm pretty sure the new grasshopper will be nerfed as soon as pgi want players to buy a new mech pack. I am done supporting this business practice. I've been done since the timber energy shoulder release and nerf, even though I didn't buy that. I haven't bought any resistance 2 mechs either. Only reason I didn't cancel clan 3 was because of the shadowcat.

You statement would only be true if the mech never was available for Cbills.

Why shouldn't PGI try to make money from MWO?

I'd like to know what drugs you are on because this entire rant-fest sounds like some new age hipster babbling from a guy that can't stop smoking for a month in order to get a job that pays more than minimum wage so he can afford his entertainment AND his marijuana.

The world isn't out to get you, more than likely your paranoia from being constantly intoxicated is just kicking you in the balls over and over trying to get you to balance your life out a bit more.

This would be the SECOND Grasshopper with two high-mounted torso energy hardpoints...

It's still a Grasshopper though.

I'm concidering buying Grasshoppers. I saw the 5P weapon slots and thought: I'll skip that one. I hate not having arm mounted weapons in both arms.
When i looked at the quirks: Complete armor quirks. Nice. But it will still suck in a brawl because of no arm weapons and those armor quirks can't help much against that.

So Grasshopper 5P being a pay2win mech is one of the biggest lies i've ever read on these forums.

I read all the posts from the OP and all I can really see is anger and raging. And lots of name-calling, which is ALWAYS the best way to support your point, right?

Seriously, wr3ck, calm down. Your blood pressure is not thanking you for your needless ranting and raving on the forums.

...And I see no "P2W" here. Maybe I am not an expert, but that is my opinion. (It does sound like it is also shared by others, though, so idk) I have never used a 'Mech that magically granted me wins every time, in fact, but then again I could easily have been doing it wrong. :P I do have a knack for screwing up simple things.

These posts remind me a lot of my brother in law. He's 22, loves conspiracy theories, and thinks people that don't agree with him are "sheep" or "idiots."

Relax. Read a book. Not everyone is going to agree with you all the time. My brother in law mellowed A LOT once he actually got a job and was working 40 hours a week. Being busy really helps you quit worrying about all those FEMA camps keeping people prisoner.

As far as mechs go, if you think a Grasshopper is OP in any way, we simply aren't playing the same game.

With all of the really strong mechs out there, I don't think I'd call this GRH pay to win.

However, PGI very clearly saved the most optimized chassis for the Gift Store and did not put it into the pack that people pre-ordered.

This isn't the first time they've done this either.

TBR-A, DWF-S, WHK-C, etc.

You might think it not having arm mounts is some kind of a detriment, but every play that plays metabuilds sees purely ablaitive arms that you can shave for extra tonnage - and a CT you can better conceal while you poke with 4 or 5 high energy mounts.

The sky isn't falling, but this isn't a coincidence either.

Except you never once HAVE to pay to get those mechs. They all become available for completely free.

Since it's possible for PGI not to make a single cent off those gift-store-only chassis, I don't see it as P2W.

Hard to say if the new grasshopper is any better than the 5N we already had. The new one has no arm weapons and no other weapon choices except lasers and no more laser slots than 5N. It's just another octowub.
