Yes but nobody wants to face a group alongside Johnny 5 either. If you can't prevent Johnny 5 on your team, at least make sure the other side might get him instead. :)

In the wild days before there was any split queueing, the public TS servers would often have 15-20 teams a piece in the pickup areas, NGNG I know that I saw 400 on once. Now I don't even know if the Comstar Nexus is still up last few times I looked it was a ghost town.

But that is cool, I have a variety of units and CW community servers, and a handy address book.

To expand upon the new player bit, Tri, a lot of new players try out a game like this because they have friends that already play. It's a rather niche genre, after all.

The problem right now is it's impossible to actually bring your friends into MWO and play with them for their ... whatever the first 25 matches are called. Cadet things? Because you'll be in group queue, and the only other people in group queue are comp teams, and your friend who you've spent months begging to try this super cool robot game out will end up getting their **** kicked in over and over and over again.

At least in a mixed queue, I can show up in an Urbanmech and help my buddy fight off the Tier 4 hordes. There's no good reason for me to show up in a Thunderwub and steal all his kills in his first games, after all.

You also said President, which implies the USA, because pretty much every nation I can think of with a direct democracy (Greece for example) has a Prime Minister as a head of State.

Almost every South American dictatorship has a President, as well as Sudan, the Philippines, etc. Is this really worth talking about? The point is you don't have to understand why a majority of people want things a certain way. PGI just gives them what they want because they're the majority of PGI's customers.

There's a story behind how that came to be.

Vlad you should know better than to speak sense in the under hive. The tier 4s and 5s are drawn to it like moths to a lamp post at night. And when they find the speaker of sense... They feed. Or at least they try. Usually they come after you with lrms so mileage may vary.

I agree with op, but just to blend in. "Op idea is stupid because it changes a thing I don't understand therefore op must also be stupid and we should slander him posthaste"

Yeah, CW held units' attention for about 2 weeks until the bad ones got sick of losing to the good ones. Repeat ad infinitum until the only people left are either diehard fans, hardcore roleplayers, and the good units that people disconnect to avoid fighting against. That's CW today.

No one likes losing against stronger players. It's human nature. That's the whole point behind a skill-weighted matchmaker. Equivalent skill is more important than the size of your group for a good match in my eyes.

The entire premise of the argument is "I Don't want to face teams" .........even though you have teams on your side as well.

Like I said, advantage, nil.

The best solution is a PvE co-op campaign to train them up in and PGI's already working on it. That way, they get trained and soloists get to keep their solo-only queue. Everyone wins.

But Biggzy, It is my sacred duty to wade through the underhive for matters of grave import such as this.

After all, I am Vlad Ward, winner of the First Annual Mechwarrior Online Community Contributor Competition - A true Forum Hero.

How could I live with myself if I did not at least try?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a PvE campaign. Like, really really really love one. But nothing a bot can do will prepare them for real players. It's just not the same kind of experience. If anything, "training" against bots may only reinforce bad habits that will come back to bite them when they face off against real people.

It's the lesser of two evils compared to forcing soloists to play with groups if they don't want to, though.

Meh my issue with CW is crap rewards, its pretty low c-bills particularly when consumables are accounted for. Since I'm in grind mode I'm not going to be looking for CW matches until I have the C-bill that I require, which means power pubbin.

Apparently new player experience and the caaual player who is the only source of new tier 1 players is not something some of the eletes care to nurture and grow as opposed to club and compare man cards.

That is what PSR is supposed to handle. Remember?
