And you'd be wrong, very wrong.
Locking the enemy is called "telling the team who and what you are shooting at", unless of course you're one of those "They'll just steal my kills!" types.
Again, nobody in this thread is arguing that you shouldn't press R and get locks. I haven't seen a single post to that end, at least.

Sure, there are as***ts of every stripe. Like I said earlier in this very thread: You'll get grief for bringing LRM's. You'll get grief for running meta. You'll get grief for NOT running meta. Some people will just ***** because you're not having fun right.
But certainly I don't see that in practice, in game, very often. Sometimes, sure, people say stupid ****, but it's not really very common.
And as I said - my T3 travels were done exclusively with LRM's (and other weapons, but always LRM's too). Never once did I get any grief about it. I still use them in T2. Still zero grief. Maybe I'm just very lucky, or maybe I just always get my own locks and don't ask players to do it for me. I hope they will, because pressing R is rookie lesson #1 and the first step to not being terribad, but if they don't, it doesn't stop me from being effective.
The cryhards on the forums? I never see them in game. *shrugs* I suppose they must be there somewhere, but I don't run into them. The guys I do meet in T2? The VAST majority are largely silent, many more are really decent guys out having a good time and fighting hard. There's some a****ts, but there will always be some.

you mean the no armor, sitting back guy?
posible? sure. consistently doing well? no way.
In his defense, he said it did well roughly 1/4 of the time. The rest of the time, I'd assume he died shamefully (but probably laughing anyways)

you have to hit r to get a lock. therefore, it shouldn't even need to be asked in the first place

yeah it's always the loud ones who make people forget about the vast majority who aren't whining every match.

Seriously? The second post implies just such an attitude, in my book anyway:

Active lrm usage usually requires for you to stay with the group and close to the targets to get positive hits.

People don't bash LRMs because they are ineffective, they bash them because they hate getting hit by indirect fire. What they are trying to do is shame people into not bringing LRM boats so they no longer have to deal with them. Such cowards.
been the case since day one of CB

Well, quite a number of people seem to have this insane idea that the only way you can see and shoot the enemy is "up close and personal".

But they have horrible synergy with poking or brawling builds, as those have very little facetime.
And the meta currently favours builds with little facetime.

welcome to the minority point of view.
More like welcome to not being a nub who doesn't understand the game at all. What are they even proposing the solution is? They aren't. This thread is pointless and stupid.

Not really, much to my own dissapointment. The time-to-target of lrms is far too high to reliably punish poking. Because of this, lurms weirdly work best in medium to close range firefights.
But arguing for lrm buffs is not very popular.
