Lights... are better, IMO. They never made sense before and now they seem like they match up to their actual tonnage. However, I can certainly see why those that care about the effectiveness of light mechs would be concerned now.
Still, I want to wait to see how it plays out first. I don't think they're going to be dead, that's for sure.

Were they drunk? I can understand making the Jenners larger for gamplay balance, but the Locusts? Really?
*Scratches head*
Nothing makes sense any more.
What they had decided was, to normalize 'Mech sizes using their volumes. Then a computer told them if any particular 'Mech was too big or too small in volume compared to the reference.

(Ironically, the Orion doesn't seem to have noticed much, other than the modeling fix to the knee.)
Do you ever piloted an Orion? It was already a pretty big target. That's why it was barely untouched in size.

I love the EXEs, my favorite 'Mech to pilot. I'm afraid that's going to have to change.
I wrote a response in the official comparison thread, but ill mirror it here:
I fear this will make the EXE the Summoner of the assault class; a 'Mech that should be good but suffers from a number of problems that deny it viability.
The one thing it had going for it was serious mobility. If the profile is made so much vastly bigger, I'm afraid that will be negated.
My other response here:

The EXE is dead, my friend. It was already the tallest, now it's the tallestest and got way chunkier to boot. We'll simply be too easy to shoot, and finding cover will be impossible.
PGI's magic formula is some bull****.

For example I love Cicada's, always bugged me they were so much bigger than the Jenner. I thought the Cicada would get smaller but it didnt. The Jenner got bigger (as did every 35 tonner I think).
The Awesome didnt change much........but the Zeus got bigger.
So when you look at it like that.....yes I am content. Quirk adjustments will come but it will take time.

Gameplay might be altered, but that doesn't mean it won't be overall more balanced.
Overall, I think the changes are "correct", but particular 'Mechs might suffer and benefit. I'm sure the so called "meta" will change.

50 ton HBK and 55 GRF should be similar in size the GRF is HUGE and the SHD is HUGE
CPLT is hugely different, why can't more Mediums and Heavies shrink like that?
I thought the overall issue was things were TOO BIG not too small.

It's as if Paul himself rescaled the mechs (hint: it's bad, and those responsible should feel bad).
That is all.

I know that's what a lot of people want, but that's not even application.
Balance comes from even application.
It's also not really true that a lighter 'Mech can't be as tall or taller than a heavier 'Mech. A mech with long thin legs a spindly design could easily be taller and lighter. That's still fair.
