thank you. It's much appreciated. Doubly so as a member of the Autistic community who is very tired of seeing his kind used as insults, when many should be looked to as inspiration (and others are without people even being aware they are or were, autistic)

wait a sec... not seeing your steering wheel......

Wait, you're autistic? You're telling me that the person I view as one of the few voices of reason on these forums is autistic? I wonder what it says about this community that someone with autism sees reality more clearly than they do.

And when you guys never see a Spirit Bear again because it's half as durable as an AS7-S with less efficient weapons, worse hitboxes, and no real mobility advantage save when it's got M.A.S.C. bar to spare?

I said it about seven hundred times in Bishop's thread - we all knew, and nobody cared, that they were going to buttmurder the KDK-3.

Why. Did. You. People. Have. To. Insist. On. Buttmurdering. Every. Other. Variant. Too?!

Cuz we never did?

Go look at my posts on the topic.

I said potentially reduce mobility quirks and add structure to the others. That was before they got the hitbox rework that made them even better.

Every other good assault has been nerfed once, some twice since the KDK got released. Yeah. It needed nerfed down to stay in scope of every other assault. When the others were better then I'd have said leave the other KDKs alone. Since the last 2 nerf rounds though the KDKs are in need of the same change of scale.

Everyone wants everything but their favorite nerfed. They want TTK longer but they want their mechs buffed.

KDKs are still top tier. Just not way better than everything else. Struggling to make tears here.

I mean, if MWO is the only other game you've experienced recently, then by all means.

Personally, I think House of the Dying Sun is a nice, new space combat game. It's small and narrow (and also cheap), but so utterly devoted to its core mechanics and polished to a tee that it remains satisfying. There's nothing satisfying in Elite. The guns are all samey and individually unsatisfying, fights are incredibly boring, the ships are overly simplistic in contrast to the fidelity of the game. Buy if you enjoy spending all your time trading and mining. At that point, though, I'd rather suggest EVE because at least you can play it while playing other games.

The stick feels like something you'd find on the space shuttle. So precise.

The pedals I modded too--rewired from USB to gameport + switches to go between so I can plug them straight into the Cougar and program them.

Hot Damn! I am jelly, especially because it's been a while since I've hacked -- ahem! I meant -- "improved" hardware to suit my tastes.

Well done.

Well, my friend, I suppose it says you should take a brief detour and educate yourself on the faces of Autism. Posted Image

Just of more recent "pop culture" vintage, Daryll Hannah, Dan Akroyd and Tim Burton are all Autistic. More than likely Bill Gates is and Steve Jobs was. High Functioning Autism (formerly called Aspergers) are usually noted for being high IQ, logic and order obsessed... and social disasters, who tend to over fixate on things.

That said, the disorder covers the spectrum from people you know and probably think of as "just a little off" to those are are essentially non functional. But regardless of where one lies on the spectrum, it's really not cool to use it as an insult.

And while we're at it nobody is allowed to use the words seizure, epilepsy, or the worst one: trembler. That offends my people. Those are our words, not yours. I shouldn't have to learn to not take things personally or grow a thicker skin.

if one is using epilepsy as an insult, I would agree. But thank you for making light of discrimination and continued bias and ignorance. Your contribution to making society better is duly noted.

Oh no how terrible an already superb mech with the most fearsome firepower in the entire game no longer has a bunch of overdone quirks it's the end of the world and the entire chassis is forever doomed to be trash.

All of the variants should have 0 quirks period.

I also like the bit about how removing overdone agility quirks means the mech will move as slow as a dire whale despite easily having room for a much bigger engine than the whale can ever fit even if the whale didn't have a locked engine...really shows quite clearly that quirk apologists are brain damaged.

Thanks for the House of the Dying Sun pointer. But I'm more into PVP and have been itching for a while for some pirate action. Posted Image

As much as I hate to tell anybody to back it, Star Citizen has more engaging PvP. That part of the game is fully functional, so if space PvP is what I wanted, that's what I'd go for.

Word to the wise, though: both of these games have strong mouse-support and gimbal-mounted weapons, and so they tend to wreck the joystick users. It sucks.

I had a crush on a girl with Asperger's once when I was in high school. She was shy and awkward and didn't know how to handle people, but I could tell she was really smart underneath it all. Only thing that kept me from asking her out, and her body language tells me in hindsight that she would have been happy to date me, was that I was young and stupid and concerned with my high school social status and everybody else thought she was gross and weird and I felt like if I dated her people would think I was gross and weird too. I don't regret much, but I do regret never asking her out.

Kodiak has three days left before it gets buttf***ed, according to the patch notes. And not just the KDK-3, either, but gol' dang near all a'em.

KDK-1 and 5 - the poster children for "So Last Meta" - are the only variants to not come out gagglenerfed - each gets a +15 Structure to the still-quite thoroughly-murderable CT. Helpful, but not really what either variant needed. They will continue to blow chunks next to all other Kodiaks, though the gap is about to get a lot friggin' narrower.

KDK-3 loses all mobility and most of its structure quirks, with a very minor +5 Structure to the CT. It will now drive with all of the agility and responsiveness of a Dire Whale. On the flip side, we'll get to see if all the Mischiefs of the world were right when they said that "the KDK-3 without any quirks at all will still be the best assault 'Mech in the game!" Personally...well, I'll be watching for a significant upspike in overquirked Spheroid fatbros replacing half-legged Kodiaks.

KDK-2 somehow inexplicably loses the majority of its mobility as well, as does the Spirit Bear - which is an assault 'mech with exactly seven hardpoints and a complete inability to pull off any loadout that isn't AS7-S analog brawly striker. The Atlas gets an entire medium 'Mech's worth of free structure and six free weapons modules' worth of weapon quirks. The Spirit Bear gets...~10% mobility and half a Locust's worth of extra structure. For the same armament. Go figure.

The ol' Stink Bear (KDK-4) loses more mobility than the 2 or SB, but less than the KDK-3, as well as receiving the same largely pointless +5 to CT structure as the 2, 3, and SB. Thusly it will be slightly to minorishly more responsive than a Dire Whale and survive for one extra medium laser hit's worth of incoming fire to its small moon-sized torso sections.

Yep. All sounds like just about exactly what folks were looking for. Oh well...suppose I shoulda played more Sprint Bear when I had the chance. Maybe I'll give it one last hurrah this weekend before the patch goes live and it joins my old Victors in the "I used to really love this 'Mech" corner of the hangar. Get it out of my system before the Viper comes in.

Still. Can't accuse Piranha of not listening anymore, can ye? They did pretty much exactly spot-on what "The Community" wanted for the Kodiak. Time to see how we like getting what we deserve, I s'pose.

Yeah, the Kodiak, at the very least the -3 needed to get nerfed (it still has arm structure quirks, by the way.) That 'mech is the clear winner for "most overpowered 'mech on the battlefield" right now, so you shouldn't be surprised - or mad - that it was nerfed. I'm less familiar with the other chassis, but the mobility nerfs to them might have something to do with their being able to mount Clan XL engines without the same risk as the Inner Sphere. The Kodiak is able to boat a massive armament while fearlessly romping around at 70kph - that might have something to do with it.

Speaking of mobility, a lot of other 'mechs got nerfed there as well. It looks like PGI is backing off quirks on 'mechs whose mobility they feel is excessive. Are those 'mechs really overperforming? We don't know - that kind of information will be found in demographic data sets that only PGI has.

Except the Viper, because pay up motherf*cker.

You can self nerf the Viper by running anything other than stock Omnipods.

Well, that's the idea.... one way to keep people from pairing the omnipods into ubermechs without limits.

Darian Del Ford and Bush Hopper must be dancing for joy. Jenners got power-buffed. Catapults lost structure. Marauders lost agility. Gonna be a lot of backstabbing on Tuesday.

Time to break out the Dragons again.

But, PGI always listens to the community. As long as the community is asking for a clan or light class nerf PGI will always oblige. I don't understand some people, all you need to do to be a happy mechwarrior is pilot IS mechs of 40 tons and upwards. Not so hard is it?
