Not complaining so much as wondering how I'll split my time between playing my Linebacker for the event, and some Medium or Light mech for the completionist challenge.
Gotta have something for those of us without a Linebacker to do, like protecting the Linebackers.
That is what the Formation and Defense event are for.

So all spelling mistakes are my own under copyright and keep it up PGI I am going to buy about 40 mechs bays that will cost me a mere 6 odd $ because you were so generous with your MC handouts this year, s h i t that means over 300 mechs to master, thanks for the double EXP lol.

There is no "anti-clan-bias".
If they decide to hand out hero mechs for free, which Clanheroes should they choose? The new ones they are advertizing right now or the new ones which they intend to sell right now?
Last month they handed out two summoners and a Hellbringer, whereas IS got only one Stalker and a Phract (discard the BJ, nearly anybody should've get it and it's the worst BJ anyway) - anticlan-bias... ridiculous thought...

P.S. and again, whole "challenging" part of this event is "play every day"... Giving staff for free just to pop up online won't make game more popular and will change nothing in terms of global situation.

There is no need for the mech to be specifically named "hero". What makes it valuable is the 30% C-Bill boost, not the "Hero" title. And it doesn't take much effort to take any random Clan mech, slap a 30% C-Bill bonus onto the CT, and add it as an alternative reward for the event for those who prefer Clan tech. They've already done the same with the Steam pack mechs - those aren't hero mechs, just "special" variants of the standard chassis. And since PGI is phasing the current Steam packs out, they could just as well offer one of those mechs as a reward. As it is, there is zero incentive for me as a Clan loyalist to complete all the event objectives. Most likely, i'll just grind out the MC challenge and ignore the rest, because the "Grand Prize" is meaningless and useless to me.
Quote
Yeah, that's the point: everybody - both the IS pilots and the Clan pilots - got the BJ. Nothing wrong with that, right? How does purchasing an MC pack automatically make you an IS pilot who wants an IS mech? As for the top-tier loyalty rewards, those were reserved for the select few who purchased the most expensive mech packs.

Indeed. This is a selling point IMO. Caches do not motivate me (and I've had better luck than most with them).

Besides that I am only disappointed in one thing and would like to make a recommendation to PGI about the Grid Iron reward.
As the prize for the Completionist, reward the Grid Iron Special Edition instead of the normal version.
For those who were not around when the Grid Iron was originally released, the SE came with the unique and now rarely seen Cheerleader bobble. The mech is identical except for the overhead label in a match and the cheerleader. I just feel that it would be more appropriate and suitable for the effort required to actually earn the reward itself since the SE can no longer be purchased.
It's something still in game, just not available to the masses which will add value to the reward itself while maintaining the SEs rarity and of course with the cheerleader would defiantly stick with the theme of things.
Unless of course the art team wants to take this a step further and design IS and Clan cheerleader cockpit items ... Hint hint, nudge nudge.
If you guys like this idea and would like to see the SE as the reward, like the thread and repost as needed. Lets make them hear it!

That's the best reward from an event since I started playing.
Eh, it got beat out by the NCIX Centurion. Can't beat +30% ... No, really. Why? You didn't have to play in-game to get that one.

Things to kvetch about?
Nah, I'm good.
Eh, I would be annoyed about one note-worthy thing, if I were you... That "12 of 14 days" requirement, for only a lame '2 Million' ... Like, that's punishment to people who can't safely do that, but were able to handle "10 of 14 days" as a requirement. Why? Many reasons, and here's some important ones...

It would be good if such events required "9 of the 12 days" or something like that, to accommodate those of us who just can't be home 12 days straight.
But anyway, thanks for the event.

...which range across several kinds of Real Life things. Stack on top of that the fact that those 12 days are part of what's required to get the Completionist Reward, and that's really overkill pressure. By now, anyone who's read enough of my posts on these forums knows I get really mad (probably insanely angered, but I'm trying to keep it toned down a bit) at "pressure cooker situations", because the game of MechWarrior Online and these Events should be fun, not an ugly grind. Previous Event, I thought "10 of 14 days" for a non-super-specific daily really happens to be right on the top end of risking going over into that rough territory of being too much. This time, PGI went over the limit and blew it, what with Real Life imposing itself on such a well-sized part of the player base.

Yeah, maybe people will actually protect their Assaults and Heavies and not let them die this time around. I know I've gotten sick of being in a slow Dire Wolf, only to get picked off by Flanking Enemy Lights. Seems like anyone in a faster Mech is actively trying to make it hard to keep up with the group in a match, almost as if they want to die and lose.

thats the real pain in the game... the matchmaker.
I second this, because it should be fixed. It ain't much fun to see the matchmaker making so many costly mistakes and screwing up matches before they begin.

wouldn't be so bad if this was Faction play only. but since FP will not be happening,
can we count the team components we destroy from the team idiots running in front of you trying to component steal ?
There's likely to be activity on Faction Warfare, directly because it's easier to get 'Component Destroyed' many times during those matches. Oh, and I should probably note that PGI can't change the way to get that one before the Event, directly due to how it's tied into the game code. One hell of a patch would be required, and there's no time for that, plus you shouldn't be getting them in that manner anyway. Unless you like the MatchMaker keeping you from playing again for half-an-hour afterward? I wouldn't.

Also on the other side of that, those Light and Medium Mechs could be thought of as little footballs to be kept away from the enemy team.

Yeah, PGI really needs to fix the underlying chances on those Supply Caches. It's too easy to end up not getting one of a few good items when someone goes to unlock them. On the other side of the coin, PGI could still at least provide Unlocking Keys for ones you get from random match gains, even if they don't give any Supply Caches from an Event.

I'm in agreement.
While I very much appreciate and enjoy these events, I have to question the length of the event itself when weighed against the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday here in the U.S.
Many of us will be traveling next week and will be unable to login to play for days. Personally, I will be travelling for four days and will therefore be unable to complete the Red Zone Offense, since there are only fourteen days in that portion. Ultimately that means I will also be unable to complete The Completionist as well.
I understand the need for a time limit but major holidays need to be factored into these events, particularly if they are strung together back to back.

A more thoroughly implemented theme would be doing so during Superbowl, or briefly turning collision damage back on and try and "tackle" the Linebacker.
Or doing a Line Charge to the enemy base with one player NARC'ed. If the NARC'ed player reaches the enemy base its a point. For this you'd need to allow friendly players to be NARC'ed to "pass" the NARC.
Or change up the mechanics (like have shown on the Dev fights) to only do short range fighting on Polar. Drop a few football /pitch lines onto the map.
Come on PGI step outside your usual template and up the level of events.
