This has been tried before, but perhaps you are the chosen one to succeed where others (me included) have failed.

You don't stick around for more than a couple weeks. :P

So far it's working, slowly. People are getting proper builds and advice and reporting back that it's working. I am yet to have time to drop with units that have asked for help. That's partly my fault as I thought my work would be quiet and it hasn't been due to my staff richard-ng me around

Overall I'll continue to help where I can and take guys along for drops as I have been the past few weeks. Plus giving advice etc.

It is all you can do..end of the day there are MANY who do not want to work as a team, bring proper builds, refuse to use comms etc etc. Those users are clear around here and in game and it comes as ZERO surprise they have not taken this offer up etc. They'd just rather complain about something that will never change. Good luck to them.

Lol I already got lulz for wearing a 'wife beater' while streaming on the weekend. And that's just what I normally wear on a hot day!

Thanks again to everyone giving advice in in this thread.  I've noticed a big improvement in my play over the last week (broke 2k damage several times over the weekend), and a large part of that has been due to having descent decks, builds and skills.  Taking these fully skilled-out builds into Quick Play almost feels like cheating.

I noticed that the Hellbringer has been added to the current sale. I currently have a Hellbringer-F and a Shadowcat as my only clan mechs - would picking up 2 more Hellbringers and running a 3 Hellbringer, 1 Shadowcat deck work for a "general" clan deck?  And if so, which variant?  The Prime?

Hellbringer.. I tend to run my Hellbringers in this configuration and have had great success with it. You can also just keep the F right torso and put 1 laser in the arm should you wish it as well if you want to keep cost down.  But I like to have weapons "high" mounted on this mech.   Also the IV is the superior ER large laser version of the Helbringer due to gen Quirks.  You just have to be comfortable playing a bringer without ECM.

Thanks for all the great tips! I may be back once I have the required mechs.

Regarding decks, should the mechs all have the same tonnage, roles and affordances, or can/should I carry a mix (for versatility or availability I guess)?

Too an extent. For example, while polar is a long ranged map where only ranged mechs will work, you can still bring 1 brawler if the enemy happens to be close. On a closer ranged map, you could bring one sniper to use on the first wave to get some premptive shots

I personally always bring my 6SRM6A maddog on my last wave (when clan) even if im being spawncamped i can still do at least 200dmg

How does tonnage work in drop-decks? Do I have a personal quota, or is the it per team?

I also found OPs requirements earlier in the thread:
"1. Long Range (All ERL or cERPP).
2. Skirmish (400-700 Laser or Dakka)."

HBK-4P, again you are mixing ranges. Why? Try THIS. Overall it's not great either way as you don't really want to be hitting ghostheat.

EDIT: this build is a modified version of A S H's 4P below. The extra half ton of space was bothering me, so i swapped out the mk1 targeting PC for a mk2, removing .5 ton of head armor

One thing I'm wondering.
Why do you guys want to switch Endo to Ferro? Aren't you just wasteing 5 tons for nothing?
Or is this info outdated?:

Thank you (and thank you to others that also responded)! Ash previously posted this skillmaze for a HLL Hellbringer with ECM. If I'm dropping the ECM, would the skillpoints from the sensor tree (and possibly the agility tree) go into survival tree, or would there be a better place to stick those points?

Edit: I'm assuming that moving from HLL to LPL or ERLL won't really affect the skilltree (based on my limited IS skill tree experience), and having/not having ECM is probably the only real factor between the different forms of Laser Vomit when you already have 41 points in the firepower tree - but if I'm wrong just let me know!

Each player on Clan side may bring 4 mechs with a total of up to 240 tons.

Each player on Inner Sphere side may bring 4 mechs with a total of up to 265 tons.

The amount of tonnage a player may bring is not impacted by how much tonnage other players on their team use.

Xann

Hunchback

Spoiler

Hellbringer

i use ebj as laservomit so actually had to rebuild them and came with 3 builds.

HBR-A (2 x cERLL, 6 x cERML, cECM) <- recomended
Spoiler

HBR-A (2 x cLPL, 4 x cERML, cECM, cTC1)
Spoiler

HBR-A (2 x cHLL, 6 x cERML, cECM) (a more sane version would probbably drop arm ermed and put x2 heatsink Posted Image)
Spoiler

For the weapon groups you want 4
1) 2 x erll/lpl/hll
2) all ermed (right side peeking)
3) only torsos ermed (hill, left side peeking, to hot to use another alpha)
4) only arm ermed (uav)

EDIT: Laser skill tree
https://kitlaan.gitl...mor%20Structure This what i basicly use for is or clan hot laser build.
Spoiler

or ecm skill tree and play ninja mode with your hellbringer (surprising people wont see you if you dont have red dorito above your head)

Your right, i made a slight oversight. However, if you switch to endo you run out of slots while still having eccess tonnage. To use that tonnage, you have to make 2 ml mpl or (what i did) remove a heatsink and add a mk4 targeting comp.

No idea, I mucked that up. If you switch over though you do have 1T spare it looks like. So yeah it doesn't matter so much in this instance but yet always Endo over Ferro. Except if you have tonnage then use LightFerro only to get some critslots back

Sounds like good advice, and it's very close to the original I posted (which was in fairness suggested to me by a player from a tier1 team).

I have two questions about it regarding the targeting computer. What is it about them that you feel make them good? I don't have much knowledge of them beyond never having recieved the advice of getting them before.

Also exchangeing a PL for an MK2 atleast help with heat-management. But considering the 4P already have heat-issues, how come the Mk4 is worth that heat-sink, especially when the mech already got an Mk2?

Just asking to learn :)

tbh i dont understand the advise for 9 ermed since you ghost heat when you alpha 6+ (it why very old build made 6 med/3mpl to bypass ghos heat). instead having 6 ermed + LL since there synergy well.
second the left arm totaly not worth it the placement way to far from all you oher 8 lasers. (right arm only usefull for right peeking not hill peeking sine it pretty low)

HBK-4P (5x ermed, 2 LL, tc 1 , LFE275 this one you can atleast alpha with (you can replace he tc1 for1 ermed arm weapon if ya want, although i would skim some leg armor for more armor on the arm though)

Not a counter-point (I'm new), but just wanted to point out that the ghost-heat enables at 7+ for ML/ERML/MPL. So you could have a full hunch with ML/ERML if you were so inclined, no ghosting.

Hey Ash, I'd like to take you up on the drop deck critique. I posted this in another thread a few weeks ago, but I've refined it a bit and added smurfy links. My four decks:

DEFENSE- used only on defense missions, or where speed isn't important. Can swap the ANH for a 5 UAC5 one if I need range.
ANH-1X (4 LBX10 - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d769b0272172132)
CP-S (4 UAC5 - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d7f64ff6c47b09d)
ASN-21 (4 SRM4 - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...16d965169ae1501)
JVN-10P ( 6 SRM2 - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ad858cc43f88236)

LONG RANGE - used only on maps like Boreal, Polar Highlands, Alpine, or if called for by drop caller. Considering dropping the TDR and LCT for 2 Cicadas w/ 3 ER LL and ECM.
BNC-3M (5 ER LL, TC3 - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c855784b6d841e6)
BLR-1G (6 ER LL - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...dd1aa3725d2e213)
TDR-5SS (5 ER LL - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3467441b8c47558)
LCT-1V (1 ER LL - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f81f13558d04076)

ASSAULT - used for assault missions and conquest missions, or as called for. All mechs are 76 KPH or faster, and have jump jets:
VTR-9S (AC20, 3 SRM6 - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5f43dab1f7a3f13)
VTR-9S (AC20, 3 SRM6 - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5f43dab1f7a3f13)
QKD-IV4 (2 MRM30, 2 ML - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...20de8524034b3ce)
ASN-21 (4 SRM4 - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...16d965169ae1501)

BALANCED - general all-around deck:
WHM-6R (2 Gauss, 4 ERML, http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f2449905b9001a7)
WHM-7D (2 LPL, 1LL, 6ERML - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6ff2e713107457e)
WHM-6R (2 AC10, 4 ML - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...fcd147ad0df68ff)
BSW-X2 (2 LBX10, 2ML - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f15bde6b3a6d415)

it 6+ and i used that ml and mpl where seperated ( i think that why 6med/3mpl used to be meta ) however nowadays they are linked together for ghost heat. Meaning having 6 ml + 1 ml/mpl/erml will trigger ghost heat (it will trigger the one with the biggest penalty)

a handy site about ghost heat and which one are linked together
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...eapon_heatscale

you can check this ingame too put 6 ermed and put 1ml/mpl/ermed on top the right torso mount there will be yellow danger sing flashing when you click on it will say *firing more then x amount weapons simultanneously will result in higher heatspikes*
