Why developers continue to demonize Capellan Confederation?

(Though, I'm hoping they don't overemphasize our ecm/electronics tech too much... wouldn't want anyone to think of us as "thoose lunatic stealthy assasin guys". Which we are definately not. Well, except for the Death Commandos. Who are rather known for being fanatic, not lunatic.)

The rule is asking us not to be like them.

No. We have roots from China, Russia and Scotland. Kurita is more North Corea friendly.

Depends on how much you're willing to understand about East Asian mentalities about government and culture, really. Most people can't get past the veneer of the Confederation being all police-y and stuff. The fact is that the culture of the Confederation allows its people to be okay with that. And by the way, BattleTech writers NEVER make any direct references to modern real-life polities still in existence.

I seem to remember reading a TRO PDF or something that made mention of an "ancient terra" nation...

Of course! All nations before the Terran Hegemony were considered to be ancient, but you must also remember that the BattleTech canon diverges from real-life history after around 1988 (and I believe for a few key figure people, before). Everything after then is all fiction, including the events leading up to the unification of Terra under one banner. If there's any reference to North Korea, it's either a.) pre-1980s or b.) totally out-of-character and non-canon.
BattleTech is the "future of the 1980s" with neo-medieval (or parilamentary if you're Marik) sprinkles on top.

Holy Roman Empire for the win!

Quote
- Osaka Agreement was a treaty that allowed Japan, China and the Korean state to join the Western Alliance in 2024. - nothing really interesting.
Starting in 2023, the Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere (ACPS) threatened Japan, due to its interest in joining the Western Alliance. The agreement ended increased tension in the region between Japan, the ACPS and the Western Alliance.
This accord allowed the member nations to retain some control over their regional affairs.
ACPS... Hmm
Quote
During 2023, the ACPS threatened hostilities with the Western Alliance over the inclusion of Japan into its organization. The ACPS instituted a naval blockade of Japan, with the Western Alliance airlifting supplies to the Japanese people. This caused the Japanese to side with the Western Alliance, but intense diplomatic efforts between both sides ultimately ended with the creation of the Osaka Agreement in 2024
So both Korea's were united and sided with China near 2010-2020. No idea was in south or north idea.
But here is also a link to planet Skat (originally in DC) which was colonised with japanese and koreans. So, I guess, finally united Korea sided more with Japan.

Communism was the global spectre that haunted the 80's, so FASA appears to have created the Capellan faction as the amalgamation of various cultures unified by socialist ideology. The Capellans were a mix of Russian, Chinese, and Indian culture with a bit of Scottish socialist heritage which let leaders of the Capellan Confederation add some Last King of Scotland flair.

Ultimately, communism proved a failure. Therefore, I suppose it was necessary for the Capellan Confederation to adapt to a changing universe in order to remain viable, but I miss the days when the Chancellor wore a kilt.

Now, that's just based on their leadership. The whole of the Confederation isn't bad, but unless you get something like the 'mech release packets or something not dealing with the direct politics of the CC, you're probably going to get the heavy CC media bias unless said article is written from a CC perspective. That said, seeing a bit more diverse sources of media wouldn't be bad, though there's still going to be plenty in lore that's going to point a lot of flack fluff wise at the Confederation. Also depends on how they handle the St.Ives stuff.
Of 'course, there's a good bit other nations have flubbed up too

Exactly this. Capellan's fully demonized themselves with the actions of most of the Liao family, especially Romano and later her son. I don't think it had anything to do with race or anything else, other than Romano happened to be a lunatic and everyone around her was affected by it. The writers just as easily could have made Hans out the same way, and in fact, they do make out "Katrina" this way when Steiner and Davion split after the Clans come in.
