The devs frequent reddit's MWO subreddit and even comment regularly.

http://www.reddit.com/r/mwo

If they want to ignore us, they'll have to do it everywhere. This is very disrespectful of them and shows that they don't give a **** about what's broken with their game. I'm thinking more and more that this is just a War Z-esque cash grab.

The only person who comments there is Garth, whose entire job is reaching out to the community at large. The community does not begin and end at the official forums.

********. The devs shun the forum because of [REDACTED]like you and the OP.

MWO is a game fun to play. Well, most of the time. Yeah I have bad games where some lag raven with ecm is killing me while I'm rubberbanding over half the map. But these are the exceptions.

I'm impressed how good, fast and stable the game is for a beta. At least for ~80% of my matches :-P

I can't wait for the improved netcode an colliding. [REDACTED]

Absolutely. I just read the General Patch Feedback Thread and it really discouraged me, There are like 40 posts, 2 are rather mild/positive, 38 are outright negative like "game sucks, bye PGI, blah blah". I thought "darn, the game really must be bad". But wait a minute, why am i having ridiculously high amounts of fun EVERY evening playing MWO? Sure the game has many problems, but the core gameplay/mechanics are still a blast. :) Also devs did not stop to read forums, the just read LESS. That is exactly what i am doing, cause many threads are redundant overly-harsh criticisms.

Speculation:

I guess the main problem is that PGI obviously has not enough staff workers. There seems to be a huge misunderstanding what PGI is capable of in a limited time frame. Partly due to the community, which is expecting AAA-Publisher work and time frames, partly due to PGI, which overestimated its own capabilities, and led the community to believe in this AAA-workframe in the first place with originally miscalculated plans for the game (like Community Warfare originally should be in the game already etc.)

The moment people realize PGI is more of the scale of an Indie-developer than a huge AAA-working machine, expectations should get more realistic.

All i can say is: PGI keep up the good work. :(

If they are the scale of an indie sized company, they should be charging for the scale of an indie size game. A standard indie game is $20 for the whole game. PGI wants $20 for one mech (not to mention the huge founders prices). Lower the price of everything, and I'd be more sympathetic, and might actually buy something.

I would love to see the devs do that as well.

Rude communication is still better than no communication at all.

And I would laugh in their face if they called it a beta as an argument

Is it released to the public? Yep
Do they advertise it around the internet? Yep
Are they asking the public for money? Yep

This is about as released as a F2P game gets.

I'll laugh in yours now :) :(  . This is a finished product and I'm a SI swim suit model!

Don't FEED THE TROLLS ffs.

Quote

Q: Does the general negativity and unrealistic expectations on the forums dishearten you at all? Or does it make you try even harder to please these particular individuals? [The Dutchmun]
A: It's hard not to have it affect one at all; generally it just makes people around the office less likely to read over the forums. I still do though, and for every negative/unrealistic expectations filled post, there are dozens of PM's, emails, and threads that are the opposite. Also, we're dealing with long-time fans of a very old IP, so we expect people to be passionate. If I could have any one thing though, it would be the understanding that: A) we're barely a year into development, and :( the poor guys are usually here till 10-11pm, so the 'you're just lazy' posts are unnecessary and flat out wrong. [Garth]

Sounds about right to me. They will not Feed the Trolls and we should follow suit. :)

http://mwomercs.com/...er/23363-lyrik/ lol this game is becoming a joke due to people like you fanboys who are ALWAYS rude and calling names. Your loyalty and friends should love you but most of the players dont. This game is a terrible let down and the lack of concern towards the fan base is a let down from when this game first started.

Yes they released an Open Beta. Not a finished game.

I have the solution to their problem:

LOCK THE STUPID THREADS WHERE PEOPLE ARE B_TCHING LIKE SMALL CHILDREN!

Problem solved. Cleans up forums, makes life better for everyone. Be a hard_ss and be consistent.

A "beta" where they sell premium time, premium items, and premium mechs. Is there anything they will do different when the game is "Finished" by your estimation?

Because unless they are even more stupid that I figured they would still release more mechs, more items, more maps, and more features...just like they are doing now!

And I still want to know what SI is :)

Garth Erlam said in Q&A http://mwomercs.com/...evs-26-answers/ this morning that due to the volume of complaints and negative feedback, they now pay little or no attention to the forums. I think this is a slap in the face for every founder and player that supported this game with their hard earned. If people knew they were going to end up like this, would they have still bought founders? Not as many I wager.

They are still actively communicating on facebook and other internet sites to market their game, yet it seems they use this forum as a focus point to censor negative feedback and complaints.

I would suggest putting your face to your comments on facebook to get a response, because it will not be forthcoming here, other other internet mediums where they are still trying to market their game.

Make your views heard here:

It's not a slap-in-the-face, it's a simple fact that as the forum fills up with unconstructive whine the forums become less of a good place to gather meaningful feed-back. Your idea now is to fill facebook with the same sort of crud so there are even less avenues of communication open.

I don't understand why people like you insist on destroying communication between customers and developers, is whining really that much more fun than playing games? Try giving the forums a rest for a while and find a game you do want to play, rather than ruining a game you don't like for others.

I'm not a fanboy. If a game is crap, I don't play it or waste money for it. But I have a lot of fun when I play it. Which is only 2-3 hours per week.

I got in the closed beta, tested it and then I paid the founders package. I didn't activate the Premium status because the game is still in beta. I didn't spend my MC on hero mechs because I find the prices to high. I didn't convert MPX to GPX because the cost is to high.

You and the OP are morons because children like you don't understand the problems of financing and programming a game. The only thing you can do is bitching around. You don't deserve the attention of any devs. Their time is better spend with working on MWO.

They never said you were buying in to a finished product. What you're doing is a new paradigm referred to as crowd funding. It's a small development house that doesn't have a lot of resources. The things they sell in-game help continue the development of the game.

That being said, I'm not spending another dime. I don't see the money they earned spent on worthwhile causes. They've spent money on lawyers to send a C&D to MW:LL instead of spending that money on making their own game better. That shows me that they don't have faith in their own content and they don't intend on making it any better. They just want to be the only dog in town so they don't have to live up to bigger expectations.

If they had spent that money on better programmers, more designers, and creating a better game, I'd be praising them. Instead, they spent it on shutting down a bunch of passionate Mechwarrior fans who were making a game because they wanted to, not because they'd get paid for doing it.

There's where our MC money went, people. They spent it on shutting down a fan project instead of fixing MWO.

http://mwomercs.com/.../390944-heeden/ LOL the forums are to hear from US the fan base. You want to blame the fan base for the games failures? If the game was good the forums would reflect that. The reason this game is failing is becuase of the greedness of the system They installed and the lack of concern towards US the fan base when we address issues on the forums like we're supposed to do and get NO response.

Depending how the contract with Microsoft is written they are probably under obligation to defend the IP, meaning they would not have had a choice.
