These builds are highly optimized and very specialized.

Followed by the 2 Streak 3 MLAS raven 3L. Everyone uses that!

295 is a waste, 280 with speed tweak gets you over 140
take the extra tonnage and add more heatsinks

The extra speed is not a waste, I rate in at 1.48 heat efficiency which is perfectly fine. This is where it boils down to personal preference and the skill of the pilot's heat management. It's not often that I see 3L pilots that fly better than me, and I'm an xl295 fan.

The Atlas Brawler and 3D Jumpsniper are close, but ours are slightly better. Same goes for the 4 Med Pulse Cicada. This is a neat post, but I would say that half of those potential builds, especially for ground based snipers and fire support (Dakkaphracts/Illyas/K2s) are fairly worthless (Even 2 Gauss 3D's are on the edge, too slow, IMO). Including the Stalker as well. I've never seen a Stalker do much on the field, even in the hands of an experienced assault pilot(In Competition). As snipers, they're too unweidly and hot, a brawlers, they can't outurn/out manuever an Atlas. Granted, they can fit a fair amount of firepower as a brawler, and a well played one will bury an Atlas. But only if the Atlas is Pants on Head ********.

3D's are pretty much the be all end all right now, when it comes to competitive play. The style of play will become even more prevelant when the Highlander hits the field.

How did I never know this thread existed?!

It's cool to have a glimpse into the competitive/pre-made meta.

I hope this continues to get maintained, or even expanded. The reasoning behind the usage is as-good or better than the links to the builds.

Why on earth is this not stickied?

Thank you for this thread. The masses will finally understand the lack of variety of builds at the competition level. Hopefully this will lead to a harder push for better balance.

I dunno, the 6 PPC Stalkers we've encountered have done really really well in the 3-3-1-1 drops.

Also, I'm going out on a limb here and guessing the Kaos improvements are mostly additional heatsinks and less ammunition?

Close, but no cigar. Additional Heatsinks, same ammo levels. Armor is much different, in terms of general ratios. Niether our DDC's, nor our 3D's have additional free space. Also, I've never been in a match where a PPC stalker has been able to outsnipe a well played 3D, especially when working in tandem or trios.

Cut a jumpjet, stick another heatsink in the arm slot or ... well I can only guess.

Awesomes don't see much use, at all, in competitive play because of a few major issues.

The first problem is that they are 80 tons, yet take a space that would otherwise be used on an Atlas. This costs the team 20 tons in weight and armour (and the ability to soak and sponge damage for the team).

Second, they have absolutely huge torso hitboxes - making them the easiest mech to hit in the game. Good Snipers, will disarm or kill most Awesomes before they can ever even enter the fight.

Third, almost any good Awesome loadout makes an even better Stalker loadout. More armour, and better hitboxes, the Stalker does PPCs, Med Lasers, SRMs, and LRMs all better than the Awesome.

The only real advantage the Awesome offers is speed, which is a high cost to the team's survivability and a big risk for a strategy, that it just isn't worth it.

Interesting atalai although your cataphract 3d builds leave much to be desired.

Could you provide me with information on why the Cent 9-AL is not used? It seems like it would make a good PPC mech, and still have enough lasers and missile slots to be a brawler.

This is my 3D: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d93c7f4dab9c37b
Basicly its a direct upgrade of the standard variant with double heatsinks, more armour and more ammo. It's not for everybody but is a ninja at close range.

What about the X-5 ?

To me he sounds much more powerfull than the 3M. But well, there's not many mech that pack up 50 firepower with 133 km/h

As someone who plays in RHoD, I can tell you most of these builds need to be tweaked for PUG play. In RHoD the fights are quick and vicious or not at all and you can get away with less heat sinks, ammo and a few other things. But in the slow back and forth of PUGs, where one may have to do a bulk of the work, you will need to stock up on these things to make it to the end of battle.

The builds OP posted are very close, everyone has their preferences when it comes to tweaking the small things.

So, please don't think these are GOD builds, b/c it's a very specific niche for the min/max'ers. I keep my Comp mechs on the side and adjust them if I wanna take them into PUG play, b/c I know how they will perform and where they will fall short.

I'm glad RHoD is wrapping up b/c the PPC/GR meta is getting too ridiculous. My fears of MW4 online are getting closer and closer and I'm praying that balances will be implemented soon otherwise the state of comp play is not going to be very fun, for me anyways.

It could be, but other mechs can do the job better. Also, in comp you want to specialize and not really 'all around' your mechs. Trebuchet with PPCs+JJ will do the long range better and Cent with 3SRM6+2ML will brawl it better.

As mentionned, the speed isn't enough of a benefit and the Stalker can have superior builds via hardpoints, etc. but are still uncommon in RHoD b/c ECM Atlas is so damn beneficial to your team, so why sacrifice that spot.

Because the meta changes like the wind and the OP builds are not going to be the same in the comming months.
